It looks like it is over for Denis, however, in November, they had a video of last training before the Devon Larratt match, and there Denis was handling Tokarev easily. Yeah, Tokarev was stopping him with Kingsmove, but anyways it was pretty easy for Denis. Now, this video shows the total opposite, and that can mean 2 things - Denis is tired after sparrings with Dadikyan and others + special training with coach; - Tokarev is getting stronger, and he is definitely top 5 in 115kg (this version is possible too)

I see it this way. Every different match opportunity shows the athlete whats lagging in his abilites and can fix it after that. In Ermes case, he knew that he has to strengthen his weak wrist after the Devon match. Which makes him now very dangerous. And Denis got an overall check vs Devon whats lagging in his pulling abilites and how the Top Elite feels like. So lets see what they bring to the table.

Denis' advantage in open bicep position is his superior drag pressure. Gasparini's is superior elbow flexion pressure from a tighter angle. I believe this means Denis will be able to pull Ermes to his side of table reducing Ermes' side pressure. I would expect they both lose wrist at some point, could get interesting

Denis will likely take his wrist but the match will go to Ermes winning side and stop in Denis sticking point. After some adjustments Ermes will press him and win, and that's that. If not he will just gas Denis out due to the gap in strength and finish him. Yet, that's also where Denis could deny him by going into the kings move. That move will drain Ermes more than Denis, but it hinges on the fact that Denis is not too far from Ermes strength wise. I mean, I really don't think Denis has the finishing power to blast through Ermes any other way. I think and hope Denis learned something from the match with Devon and will execute this way. Hoping that he will have become that much stronger is just wishful thinking. That being said, Denis has a small chance.

He thinks he was 70 percent when he faced john he was like 45-50 percent of what he was in 2013 or 2018 where ever his prime was. Ermes “back pressure max” lifts are actually mostly side pressure. He stopped levan from pinning him with a flop wrist position, using side pressure and tricep power, not back pressure.

I mostly agree with you, I begun thinking "oh wow Denis is looking pretty good" using that infamous kingsmove and so on, but as the video progressed it started to look less and less impresive from Cyplenkov. One thing I would say is that at some part of the practice Denis used pretty much the same technique that he used way back against Chaffe (the one you showed in the video actually) I thought that is cool. Some things I'd like to add though: I think Babken is still hiding stuff. Some people are saying that this video exposed all that Denis has to offer, but I disagree. My russian is not very good but from what I understand the video wasn't about Cyplenkov's training specifically, it was about Tokarev's preparation for a match, so it makes sense that Denis just let him work. Something I noticed is that most (if not all) recent videos of Denis are not about his own preparation, they're about him training other guys or him lifting weights (wich is not the same as leaking every single practice pull). Also, has anyone noticed that Dadykian is suspiciously missing in all the videos? This doesn't make a lot of sense since Dadykian's match against Devon has already been announced, and we know from some clips that he's actually training there with Denis. My theory is that the important, technical training is happening with Dadykian and the practice pulls we're seeing against Tokarev or Kiril is just Cyplenkov getting some extra work after doing his main workout. I still think Ermes is the favorite btw and I'll think that until the match happens but damn I want to think there's actually hope for Denis so bad.

I agree with first sentence. It all about the pronator. If Denis can't take Ermes' one, then Ermes is gonna take control, he is gonna attack and if he can go through Denis bicep it's done. If Denis takes center but can't completely take Ermes' pronator we will see who has the better endurance (because Ermes will stop him in the same way he did with Levan). If Denis will take both center and Ermes pronator and then he will attack, maybe it will be like Devon vs Ermes (note: Devon never went through Ermes back pressure and side pressure, Devon just denied Ermes to use them, if Ermes was able to access his power, Devon was fked for good).

Also he's giving away his wrist for a reason, they're preparing to control the center and Ermes' wrist. If Denis fights for his wrist he's gonna lose the center which is the worst thing against Ermes, they key is to take the wrist and stretch his arm as much as possible. Do you guys remember how Ermes was getting out of losing position against Vitaly by applying his enormous back pressure. Imagine the same match, but this time Denis takes his hand more than Laletin (due to his thick hands) and maybe he will be stronger in that hanging position than Laletin. Who knows really.
