Hey everyone! Starting next Wednesday (October 4th), all future Hidden Stories will be migrating to a new, separate channel for clarity and simplicity. All of the current stories will still remain up on this channel, but all new videos moving forward will be posted on the new "Hidden Stories" KZbin channel here: www.youtube.com/@hiddenstoriesYT. If you want to continue keeping up with the weekly stories and my Hidden Stories series, subscribe to this new channel ✌

I feel like that kid Paul aka "heavy" kidnapped Bobby. The parents probably knew he wasn't the real Bobby, but couldn't bare the pain of losing a child. Since Bruce's mother didn't seem like a great mother( she let a man take away her son for a year and said nothing to the police) they probably gave that kid a better life. A very interesting story that would probably do a great movie.

also legal matters like child custody costed money even back then that a single mother mother who worked all day as a farmer wouldnt be able to cover... seems like she stilled cared greatly and was deeply wounded to continue to grieve the rest of her life after marriage (ps lots of kids is completely normal for any farmers anywhere in the world)

This reminds me of a story i have seen somewhere of a woman who was assaulted by a man. During the crime she tried her best to memorise his appearance as best as she could. She would be presented with a line up of victims and she insisted that one of the men was her attacker with absolute certainty. The innocent man was thrown in jail and may have stayed for life but eventually he was released after the real criminal was identified.

I think maybe Bobby Dunbar kept away from the lakes out of fear of the alligators, then died of thirst/starvation. This could explain why his body wasn’t found, since he could have travelled many kilometres before dying.

Andy, Thanks again. For the many stories yes, but more than that… Andy, you’re a good person. You resonate with the good and positive in people and that comes through. You’re not preachy (thank goodness) but focusing on the good comes through even in talking about these bizarre stories. Stay true to yourself. It’s refreshing and a gift more important than your stories.

Amazing story! I couldn't imagine a missing person story where someone is both lost and found. The simplest explanation as to Bobby's whereabouts is some combination of the lake and animals. I'd guess he fell into the lake, drowned, and was dragged by a crocodile far away from the lake. The lake is very small (more like a wide part of the a creek), so I doubt that they missed him if he was still in the lake, but in the hours between when they were searching on land and started looking in the water an animal could have taken him miles from their search location. " When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

I always told my mother, that kids under 4 would go with just anyone and think they were their parents all along. As for the disappearance, was it ever said where the guy was that took him fishing? Lot of caves, holes, etc dot all over the south. Be easy to fall into and never be found. Great story.

I am someone who has been told lies by my family for so long that I have no idea what the actual truth is. It affects everything I do and I doubt everything, even things I have been present for. Margaret Dunbar is a freaking hero. "Leaving things in the past" should be your first clue that there is something wrong that needs to be rectified. You may not like the truth, but the lie could destroy the well-being of someone you care for. Is your temporary discomfort so much more important?

In those days the family name meant everything. If a daughter turned up pregnant out of wedlock, she was thrown out, to fend for herself. Looks like that's what happened to this boy's birth mother, causing her to labor in the fields and entrust his care to another. Family honor would also have played a huge role once he'd been claimed by his new family. In no way could they afford to go back on it once they had laid claim to another family's child. That was a done deal. So when his modern day descendant met such disapproval when she went digging up the past, that's why, and it's why the older members of the family still turn away. She exposed the family shame, and shamed the family name.

Cause I find it rather strange that Bobby’s family especially his siblings never questioned if it was actually him and why they accepted it him when it isn’t.
