One of our favorite travel hacks is having afternoon tea at 5-Star Hotels! It's a great way to check out and enjoy a luxury hotel for just the cost of a snack. But this place may have been too cheap at just $5.40 per person! Music volume was too loud, sorry about that! Go for a full buffet in a 5 star hotel, trust me its the best. Don't know much outside colombo, normaly us in colombo do it at least once a week..

Johnny I went for my honey moon here and this has been one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka, the staff was amazing. I'm surprised by the food when we were there it was amazing, didn't have the tea with snacks though.

Try the buffet at Mount Lavinia on a Sunday and relax by the pool with a nice view of Colombo. Better to go for the buffet there and the hotel has some interesting history behind it. High tea: Kingsbury is decent, Galle Face is a nice hotel to visit and offers high tea, good options in Colombo.

Hi Johnny, glad you enjoyed Vil Uyana. I see that you’re not a fan of Kandalama. Which is fine, since it’s based on your personal experience. But Kandalama has a special place in the hearts of Sri Lankans, not for being opulent or luxurious, but for being an eco-friendly hotel. Geoffrey Bawa, a renowned Sri Lankan architect, built the hotel into the side of a massive rock, with minimum harm and disturbance to the environment. He even envisioned elephants and leopards taking over the place some day. He wanted it to be more of an environmental experience rather than a luxury resort. While you’re entitled to talking about your experience with Kandalama, please know that it’s an architectural and environmental wonder to a lot of Sri Lankans. You can criticize the experience and service without bashing the hotel over and over again. Peace!

Hi Johnny & Kristina Another great video, this place looks amazing , so relaxing and tranquil. If you visit the west coast the Mt. Lavinia hotel has great Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. The Galle face hotel a little bit north of there had a pretty good high tea when we were there a couple of years ago... keep enjoying you travels in Sri Lanka and stay safe!

Amangalle, Galle(Galle Fort) has a fabulous high tea, also many hotels in Colombo, including Galle Face hotel, Kingsbury (Colombo) are great places for High Tea. On a different subject, I believe you will go to the ancient city of Anuradhapura if so stay at "The Sanctuary at Tissawewa, very close to" Ruwanvali Seya " you can use hotel bicycles to explore, a former British governor's mansion converted to a beautiful hotel, the staff is friendly, food is delicious, of cause you will encounter monkeys and peacocks again. Enjoy. By the way the music was too loud and it was hard to hear what you were saying at Vil Uyana.

Too cheap? That was only the high tea for 5 USD. But one night stay is 600 USD for a room. It's associated with the nature but it's 5 star hotel. As a local I must say this hotel is nice and your review was cool.

Yes, it's crazy that at such a nice, and expensive hotel, their high tea is too cheap compared to the rest of the hotel. It doesn't match!

They charged Rs.7000 for high tea coz kandalama heritage 5 star even more options. I'm working in Sheraton grand, Park Lane, Mayfair, Piccadilly, London. They charged for high tea £70 per a person. Srilankan prize still cheap .foreigners when they visit srilanka always complained prizes are so high n expensive. Even Australia everything are so expensive. When you compare with other countries srilanka still so cheap.

Cool video! Similar to Ulugala Resort. If you are in Colombo try Galle Face Hotel and Mt Lavinia hotel for high tea. Also the Kingsbury, Colombo. Thank you for the awesome videos. Enjoy!! Take Care!

Vil Uyana is a pretty hotel with nice surroundings. The high tea looks yummy and is a reasonable price. Kandalama is at a beautiful location. The high tea is on a different scale so I wouldnt compare it with the one at Vil Uyana but maybe once you explore other high teas you can get a good idea of the prices and quality and compare the options, and then make a video all about high tea options for tourists :). Stay safe.

Hi Johnny, if you not play music at least while talking, that would be better. Couldn’t hear what you were saying properly. Other thing is Kandalama charges more, because it’s one of the top hotels in Sri Lanka . They’ll have to charge more because they may pay higher salaries for staff than other hotels. I haven’t been to America yet but It’s like you’re comparing Ritz, London to another good hotel in England. You can’t do that. We’ll have to pay extra for their name. It’s same in any where in the world.
