The way Aqua and Ruby died in their previously lives, and their proximity to witnessing Ai's death dramatically shapes the kind of trauma they internalize from the incident, and shapes their behavior going forward. Aqua watched the light and life leave Ai's eyes, while Ruby was on the other side of the door, and the authorities that showed up didn't let her see Ai's body or the scene at all when they rushed her out. Also, because their identity was still being protected (it mentioned that the Saitou's transferred them to their family registry officially), they ended up having to watch their mother's funeral from that fucking car window. Asa Akasaka understands human psychology, and really nails how these kinds of events effect peoples' behavior, and what happens next is going to be a ride for sure.

Ikr 'stan' literally is a portmanteau of the words 'stalker' & 'fan' and it was Eminem who coined that term in a song that was about an obsessed fan whose insane worship of their idol and following 'rejection' by them lead to the stan committing murder and then suicide

The story of this episode with the stalker and stabbing is likely inspired by Mayu Tomita a Japanese singer and actress being stabbed by an angry fan back in 2016. She also acted in a TV show playing a member of an idol group called Ai. The fan had apparently sent her gifts which were sent back which made him fly into a rage, he confronted her before an event she was attending about why she refused the gifts and ended up becoming enraged then stabbed her several times. She did survive and he ended up in prison but it created a lot of debate. Some people on social media just like in this show responded in negative ways towards her even blaming her for the attack. This sort of thing has happened to actual idol groups too. In 2014 at a handshake event for popular group AKB48 a fan managed to bring a saw inside the tent they were doing to handshakes and attacked. He injured two teenage idols and a male staff member who tried to intervene. When you get into these very involved parasocial relationships you do get some people who get crazy obsessed. The majority of idol fans are fairly normal otaku who know exactly what the deal is and don't go crazy but things have happened in the past like this.

05:15 Sensei is a term for a lot of occupation, from what i know it includes teacher, doctor, and author. Although the main translation is definitely teacher. 06:58 It is social stigma and the fact she is idol. Just imagine K-Pop parasocials. She will instantly lose a lot of fans if they know she is meeting a man, having a sex, pregnant, unmarried, and 16 y.o at that. Well one fan who knows did that. It's not a dark show nor it is a lighthearted show. It's a "reality" show. Save for some fantasy setting. Although it won't be as dramatic as this episode. I can guarantee you this is still a very good show till the end of season. I really love your reaction girl. please keep up making a good reaction.

loved your reaction, thank you for sharing. i really appreciate your thoughts, especially when you noted "wanting to love is love." i personally thought another way that her love was already there was that she was already showing her love to her kids in all her actions. that she was so very accustomed to lying to make others happy to me paints a sadder picture of what life with her mom might've been like, or at least in her time as an orphan. when you did note that wanting to love is still love, it makes that disparity in her heart more evident. some supplementary notes! to add context, or at least try to answer questions from what i know: - sensei's not specifically for teachers alone. it can refer to instructors, professionals, or professional types - like musicians, doctors, or writers. - japanese idol otaku fan culture _insanely_ idolized idols, for scale. in the 80s, it was a thing that fans believed idols didn't have any bodily functions (no such thing as idols pooping; i'd bet they didn't know about periods either). there was an ice age of idols in the 90s where they weren't around as much, but junior idols became a thing (like younger than 15.). the 00's saw popularity come back through morning musume (like many others, they weren't free of scandal, whether dating, smoking, any variety of bad PR, anything that their _family members_ get in trouble for causes a fuss for them too). the '10s saw the biggest boom in popularity of idols, that it was called the "warring idols era," one of the biggest groups from this time was AKB48, with its "idols you can meet." with so many members in AKB48 alone, on top of its sister groups in neighboring cities, so eventually someone gets caught by the tabloids for dating. there's still the risk of parasocially obsessed fans harassing and assaulting, but speaking in terms of common fan expectations, dating scandals are a common thing to come up, so we're at a point where regular fans still might be against idols dating at all (this all still holds for male japanese idols too), but it's at least somewhat a thing that fans may be more accepting nowadays of an idol dating - but whether they stay idols or graduate, whether fans accept them or don't, it really varies based on the situation. that some idols may live normal lives without hassle may be good enough news for some that the industry has changed so much compared to before, but there's still fans, idol companies, and (just to acknowledge the possibility) probably some idols who may think such restrictive things of what idols should be. - 200,000 japanese yen is about $1470 american dollars, or $2014 canadian dollars. by her own metric, it isn't much, but there's also the context that b komachi was able to perform at budokan, that she had come back from hiatus, so she might've been able to do more work and get more pay previously. to give a sense of scale, most everyone wants to perform at budokan - a venue that's for them at the cultural scale of people wanting to perform at madison square garden. that b komachi was already at budokan when sarina was a patient shows the degree of their popularity. the domes in japan, to my recollection, are usually for baseball and could seat tens of thousands of fans (IIRC tokyo dome has one of the largest concert capacities at 55k). for any artist to tour exclusively at the 6 major domes is really big. but also, for that degree of popularity, in terms of probability, creeps and stalkers are also so much more likely - deluded shut-ins who didn't talk to anybody (or only talked online in toxic cesspools). - yeah, what minako said is spot on. - i agree that it's weird there's probably men in that audience thirsting over a teenager. as it is with idol groups, fans might be there for a variety of reasons - at least with japanese idols, the focal point is for the idol to have fun, and for the fans to feel happy. some fans are there to just get away from the world and have fun - where other people might enjoy themselves going out to clubs, staying in to read books, some people have fun by dancing around to music sung by a bunch of teens trying their damnest. - what the babies were doing is wotagei - calls and chants, mixes, and moves (waza). it's basically fans doing their part to return the energy from the idols and increase the hype, like a feedback loop of fun. that "oi! oi! oi! oi!" from the other fans is the typical call that's done to the beat - there's other calls that are also used depending on song structure and the specific song. mixes would be chants used during the intro or the instrumental break. one part of idol fan culture is that, while the calls are mostly whatever fits the rhythm, fans may organize and customize the calls for each song, and what mixes may be used (one might say the "babu babu babu babu" is the twins' "babu" mix lol). the waza, the moves that the twins were doing, are its whole entire thing. mainstream venues may only allow calls, chants, and mixes, but no waza. uchishi, those who are actively into wotagei, maybe even as its own dance subculture, would have their own groups (some are active on youtube, tik tok, and so on). technically you can theoretically apply wotagei to any song, and uchishi have their own fun making their own art of it. - what the twins were waving around were UOs. ultra oranges, aka UOs, are super bright glowsticks. UOs get _very_ bright lol. they stay bright for only a few minutes, so you usually snap them right at the part of the song that gets you most hyped. if you look at the other fans, they have penlights, battery-powered lightsticks, noticable because of the handles. some may sell depending on a specific idol's color. but there's general penlights that can swap between several colors. - small thing imo, but even though the director's talking to a 4 year-old with an adult brain, from what i heard, it's generally a good thing for adults to not simplify things into kiddy talk for kids - using common adult vocabulary would help teach them communication, how to socialize, and expanding their vocabulary. - because he was once a doctor, aqua knew the severity once he realized it was the abdominal aorta - since that's the biggest artery in the body, a person can bleed out very quickly. that he frankly has little kid hands, he might not have had either the dexterity or strength to take any preventative measures. the event in general was likely influenced directly by what happened to mayu tomita, who survived, but with lots of trauma.

So many people were expecting a light-hearted story like you were, due to the author's other massively popular series (Kaguya-Sama)... "Probably gonna be some cutesy idol stuff!" And then after the Doctor's death you think "Ah, that was just to set up the story, now it's gonna be cute idol/mother stuff!"... and then she gets murdered too. Many tears were shed over this!

Lolicon is a derogatory term because it implies guy is interested in young girls but not necessary in sexual way. You see, the default view is "if he wanted sex, he would go for adult woman", if he goes for small girl he is somehow childish or sth, but it does not suppose he is ped0. His collegue is not accusing him of being predator, but making fun of him being weird (in non-sexual way) to be interested in young girl instead of adult woman. And yeah, sixteen is age of consent there.

Yeah, regarding adult men thirsting abut young girls - for some reason while in our culture it immediately brings shady things to mind, in Japan idols and such are very normal and not considered thirsting. There is so-called "kawaii culture" - sweet looking things are considered attractive in a non-sexual way and not shunned to be enjoyed. Guys beings fan of sweet, young-looking girls are sth normal and no one expects them to want anything sexual from the girls.

I feel like so many completely misunderstood him saying he'll consider it when she's 16. That being the age of consent is important, but not in the way a lot seem to be viewing it. Kids say some dumb stuff sometimes, and it's not always easy to navigate sometimes. You could be harsh and tell them outright no, but for a kid that doesn't fully comprehend just what they're asking for in that type of situation a harsh denial can do a lot of harm emotionally. Because of that it's easier to either sidestep it, or even just play along and let them over time grow out of the idea. Circling back around to the age of consent, 16 is the lowest he can say to use the laws to sidestep the request. He could have said yes just to let her have some happiness about it before she dies, since dealing with a terminally ill child makes that sort of thing even harder to navigate. He also still never agreed even with hiding behind the age of consent, he just said that was when he'd consider it, which even if she lived that long gave him the chance to sidestep the idea now, and let her grow out of the idea over time, and worst case can turn her down then if she was still set on it.

Yep, this episode/movie left such a strong aftertaste it's crazy. I never expected an anime to be so traumatizing. The only thing that had a stronger emotional impact for me is probably Muv-Luv Alternative (the original visual novel). But this is just a 82-minute movie instead of a 80-hour novel with all the details and buildup! I'm going to read the manga next week and see if Akasaka-sensei can properly deliver a modern Hamlet and make Aqua a character that's remembered in the animanga world for eternity. Seriously believe it has the potential to be my favorite manga if it keeps up the quality till the end. And the love Doga Kobo gave to the anime is just insane. Kudos to them.

This was such a wonderful upload from you :) Thank you! There's something magical about good react-content... and that spark of magic lays within the commiseration, the vulnerability, and the shared enjoyment of a piece of art between viewer and content creator. Through a conversation with a close friend of mine a while back I came to the conclusion as to why videos like the one you just uploaded are so special... and that is that, connecting with someone else's experience allows others who have experienced the same media (Oshi No Ko in this case) to not feel alone in their emotions. For instance... I watched episode 1 by myself. By the end of it I was sobbing and just felt like expressing love to another human being. It was about 2am and I just wanted to share that experience with someone else. So I want to thank you for sharing that vulnerability many of us craved to be a part of when the credits rolled. React content... isn't as simple or clickbaity as many surmise. It truly does have an incredibly important place between people online. Anyways! lol, i just wanted to give you a virtual hug and say thank you! I highly appreciate you putting this out there. Subscribed, liked, and commented! I'm looking forward to seeing more react stuff from you in the future. (I recommend the Yoasobi music video for this anime and if you're into it, the legend of vox machina is a fun american series based on a D&D campaign. I think you'd like it!)

Love the reaction, was hoping to offer a little bit of constructive criticism for your filming though, since you got the video on the left and needing to close it due to copyright things, the mic stretching across is playing a big role in your video. And whenever you go to move it it is really noticeable. It is also one of the main reasons your camera keeps messing up with auto adjusting. So not sure how your setup is and if it is possible, but maybe set it up where the mic is coming in from the right side of the screen. Then if you mess with it, it won't be as noticeable nor will the camera focus in on it as much. Again, really enjoyed your reaction and wishing you many more subs!

Hardly anyone, excluding you I think, missed that Aqua considered ending his life, now that Ai was gone, having lost his mother and idol. That line "I can't die yet" should be so powerful and f'd up, but one has to realize his outlook before coming to find killing his father as his reason to live. Every reaction, that scene of Aqua deciding to hunt down the bastard hits so hard. So far, the next episodes have been very enjoyable, too. Remember, Japan has different culture and laws from the West. Please don't turn out like those Mushoku Tensei karens.

Oo i def didnt miss the fact that he considered ending his life. I’m aware of the difference in culture, however, personally for me it makes me. Uncomfortable as a result of my own morals. Doesn’t matter what country I’m looking at it just makes me uncomfortable. Also, I’m actually not from the west, eventhough i live there.

Please don’t use spoiler images for your thumbnail. The episode has been out for 3 weeks but many still have to discover the series - finding such a blatant spoiler in their yt home won’t be fun.

Sensei is used to address doctors, authors, artists, and politicians as well. The last one though is reserved for people who have political connections to the politicians and is lower than them to address them as sensei, not the general public. Doctors and authors are called sensei by the general public, and artists are case by case. Also, a very unique and special case - hired bodyguards were also referred to as sensei by the seedy types of people. For example, yakuza that hired swordsmen in the Edo period all the way to the Meiji revolution would refer to them as sensei. Generally sensei are NOT used when there are more appropriate addressing. For example scientists would be addressed as hakase (Doctor as in scientist doctor) and movie directors are called kantoku. Etc.

I really dislike the typical american overreaction over the age topic. Literally thats not even what the show meant or what was going for, but american always have to overreact these things because of their prejudice and oversensitivity to these topics. Like Jesus Christ they need to chill the f out with this stuff and stop thinking the worst every time they see something like this. When almost no one else in the world thinks like that only you guys than maybe you should look inwards a little bit.

@@farohreacts I’m not even talking to you. I’m just replying to original poster. I don’t really have a problem with your opinion on the subject. Seeing how defensive you get is a massive turn off from your content, which is a massive shame. It just let me know to avoid your future content, which is sad, since I enjoyed a few of your other videos.

I wouldn’t call this defensive, I take the age of consent thing very seriously, my apologies if I misunderstood u were in defence of it ☺️ But I definitely won’t apologize for having no patience for any conversations regarding ages of consent.
