I laughed so hard when you mentioned most of those culture shocks because I experinced most of them when I moved here in the Netherlands from Kenya. Especially the rain part. I was like, why aren't people running to shelter when it rains? They just go about their busineses in the rain! Also, how people are so used to the cold, beggars on the streets, directness of people here, and then it getting dark at 4PM was the shocker of all shocks. Oooh and by the way, if you don't like bread in the UK, you should try bread in the Netherlands. Utainua mikono😂😂. I had to learn the hard way. Most of their breads are meant to be eaten with stews. I try to spread peanut butter more compared to butter or blueband. Tastes better with peanut butter. But taste buds zimezoea sasa. Or you can bake your own bread with sugar. That is also a good option. This video was fun watching,Tess. Escially after watching your previuos videos of you assembling things for yourself instead of calling "caretaker" like in Kenya. You discover you screw a bed yourself. Living in Europe kind of empowers women. You come to realise that you are so capable of so many things that you didn't know you could do back in Kenya. Mimi kwanza I want to be a track driver🤣🤣. By the way I also have a KZbin channel that I discovered I could share so many things about The Netherlands to my country people Juu weeh, shocks zitanimaliza.

You want to be a truck driver 😂😂😂 The peanut butter on bread sounds like something I'm definitely gonna try. Sometimes I miss bread so much. Btw I was shocked by the fact that some people here really eat bread with stew. 😲 I'm definitely checking your channel out...

@@tessogambaupclose Trust you me, Bread and stew is the order of the day. Hehe. I used to be surprised as well. Untill I began trying out and now I can eat bread with stew as well. I just make it as a sandwitch; put everything in including avocado, maybe beef or beans then eat it as a meal. With tea, I realised that toasting the bread a little helps enhance the taste.

Our cats and dogs in Africa eat organic food. Infact they eat the same food we eat not actual dog food that has chemicals and so many things. That was just my analogy when i also saw the big cats and dogs abroad.😅 When it comes to the shoes 😂😂😂 that was also a shock to me. They throw their shoes away when they get too too dirty. They don't have those road side guys who repair, clean and wash shoes.

This was funny to watch, I’ve been in UK 17 yrs now but I still can’t get used to the cold. Rain I’m used to now, Manchester is the wettest city in the universe as they say. It took me 3-4 years to get used to the taste of mayonnaise. Vinegar was weird tasting too. Raw chicken didn’t look pinkish but white to me and that was odd. Eggs were not a yellow and flavourful but just dull colour and dull flavour. I’m used to the taste now. Dating was strange how people just say “we’re seeing each other” for 6-7 months acting like they are in a relationship but not in a relationship. Where I’m from a guy would propose a relationship if you accept then you are together and there’s a silent knowledge that that relationship will lead to marriage once you’re both ready to get married unless you break up. The hanging out with a guy for months without a title but acting like a relationship while you’re not was and is still tough for me. I know what you mean about dirty trainers/shoes. 😂 and how some people don’t shower daily…they just wear makeup and body spray/ perfume and go about their day and school kids just get out of bed and wear uniform without shower and off to school, obviously not everyone but it’s a very acceptable thing in this culture to leave your front door without showering. Oh if you like sweet bread try Brioche loaf or buns from Aldi. I think ASDA and Lidl sell it too.

as someone who lives in a house share, I dont think its half bad as everyone makes it out to be. I have been living here for a year & some months now and I just think its a good alternative. You dont have to be friendly if you dont want to. You can pick an en suite if you want own toilet & shower,, and you can put labels on your dishes if you dont want anyone using them. The landlady/lord have already done required checks so security isnt really a problem,, plus your bedroom locks. I just pay rent and that's it. no other bills!

sorry,, did not expect it to be that long 😂😂 and I am not even done,, its good to be friendly with neighbours coz I am alone here, my family back in Kenya & my neighbour gives me some food when she makes alot & I do so too.... it came in handy when i was sick, she made me some very good chicken soup and I was feeling better in no time. House share isnt too bad 😊 thats just my experience & maybe I am just lucky

Now you should see parents that they don't care when children play in rain, at home they tell the children that they will get sick, here they don't get sick because of rain, and by the time they are adults, rain is nothing to fear. On darkness and light visit the Scandinavia, we went on a walk, we started seeing noone out then we thought something is not right, when we reached the house, it was 22:00pm. I have been to part of Scandinavia where it is 24hrs light. Need to visit the country side and see the mosquitoes, huge but harmless, only bite. Winter makes it difficult to care about shoes, unlike home, here they leave the shoes at the door. In the Scandinavia, the Kitchen is before the sitting room, and people spend time in the kitchen than the sitting room.

Love this video - truly interesting and hilarious!.....and I've ever heard of the shock that a Kenyan gets when time in some parts of Europe kinda sets itself back an hour, or ahead - sijawahi elewa hiyo concept but now that you've verified it, I can't even fathom that.....about the cat, it must have been a breed connected to a Lynx....and as for the dog, that was definitely a Mastiff - ikakukanyaga na mguu moja pekee, unapotelea ndani.....😂....as for the bread, itabidi you learn how to bake roho safi....😂...na btw, people over here have started normalizing Friends With Benefits thingy......I've heard, seen, and been approached for the same, upfront, so to me I think it's becoming normal....thanks for sharing.

It can really throw you off, especially if you were not aware of when the clock shifts. Spent a few minutes trying to understand what happened 😂. How comes I've never seen such big cats and dogs in Kenya? I didn't know FWBs are now common in Kenya. I've just never had someone be upfront with it that way 😂

@@tessogambaupclose I don't think we have such breeds over here unless waanze kuzizalishana.....and then, environment ya huku siko sure if it can be conducive enough for such....as for being approached upfront, usishangae next time round ukivisit home uulizwe, now that you're a free bird.....🤭

@@tessogambaupclose - Now I come to think about, they must add way more salt than is necessary (probably to extend shelf-life). I used to bake a lot of bread when the children were young and the difference was quite noticeable but that was a long time ago and I had forgotten 😁
