Your show is fabulous and I hope it gives energy to those still associated with Everquest in any way. It's such a professional production that some do think it's directly affiliated with Daybreak, et. al. That's a compliment to your own work and professionalism. Your labour of love is a bright spot.

Thank you so much for the compliment! It's one of the reasons I wanted to make the clarification here. Darkpaw has been VERY good to me, providing content and information when able to. And I want to remain in their (hopeful) good graces moving forward! It's a balance between discussing what's out in the ether, and what they're willing to discuss (as any good game studio has to balance as well!)

Great video! I certainly agree with the need to be open minded. As you said, we already have an EverQuest 1. Staying true to what EverQuest is doesn't mean making the same game, again. I remain hopeful the stars will align 😀 Can't wait for the next episode!

Yeah, agreed, I am open minded for a new EQ(ish) game, interested to see what ideas they come up with this time around, which is why I'd love to see the old ones (EQ1/2) get a few visuals upgrades, because if the new game doesn't scratch the same nostalgia itch, I can still continue to venture in the older versions of Norrath alongside the new one.

Love all the work you put into this show Fading. I'm not actively playing EQ due to lack of time, but watching your videos gives me that EQ dopamine drip I so crave. About new EQ IPs: The first thing anyone will mention about their enjoyment of EQ is the community. At the height of EQ, it was the online social platform. Problem with an EQ3 is that could split the community further. I don't know what the answer is to see this franchise prosper, but I'm with you in hoping it does.

Sometimes the best way to move forward is to look back and analyze what worked, what didn't, and why. EQ3 is a clean slate. A way to get a fresh start. I think trying to reinvent the wheel or try to follow current popular MMOs (FF14) is a fool's errand. EQ is great for a lot of reasons, focus and lean into those. You do that and modernize where needed and you have a winner. Like they said in the EG7 presentation, dark souls showed the suits that hard can be good. I feel that's an oversimplification but the point holds true none the less. Curious to see what Darkpaw comes up with.

I disagree, there's a lot on live OR Progression servers for just about any playstyle. If you haven't tried a TLP sever, give it a shot. Oakwynd is the most recent TLP, currently in Velious.

Again, from the last video, hire a fantasy art team in line with the og Keith Parkinson art. Nobody has done this so it’s fresh and I think all EQ fans would love to just play something like the original box cover

RIP Parkinson. iirc the art of EQ next was in line with that. Imo using that base and art team would be amazing. That said I still would prefer a Reskin/modernization of the OG game.

I like the artwork and enjoy the style. It reminds me of 90s X-Men a bit or tabletop Shadowrun. Come to think of it, at this point I would adore a Shadowrun like story in a time-shifted Norrath, NGL.

Check out Episode 19! There's much more info there about it, even going into the idea of a Marvel type universe. That seems to be a controversial idea (See comments) but certainly an interesting one. One of the former developers even mentions that he'd love to go WAY into the future of EQ.

I agree to a point that The Races of EverQuest needs Changes but I really don't think Dark Paw is going back and Picking up the EQN Dark Elves and the EQX Kern Race (Yes I look at the Kern and it's better in EQX then EQN) But I agree No one wants a Race in Mud (Made of Mud). Yes the Elves in EQX look good but again they said they were not going that way. Yes open Minded but it needs to be EQ.

@@EverQuestShow Yes my point was Compared to EQN Kerrans the EQX are better. The point your missing & the Reason why the divide is Everyone wants EverQuest 1 Remade and that has not change since 2004 or Not at all but then you hold up Pantheon & everyone is Fine. Their answer that isn't EQ so the Redesign Races are Fine. Which sadly Daybreak & Dark Paw isn't understanding Since they don't want to Remake their best Work.

Haven't watched the video yet, will do right after my kids fall asleep, but I just wanted to say that I would love to see a visual upgrade for both EQ1 and 2 (if done right). I commented on this via the previous video, so I won't go into detail with this post. In short: I don't mind a new game, but I love EQ1 and 2 as well, so please don't forget to share some love with the existing communities that made this franchise great in the first place. Long live the EQ franchise! PS: FF14 is getting a huge visual upgrade very soon. I also wouldn't mind seeing Vanguard Saga of Heroes rise from the ashes in a revamped and refurbished state either.

1:41 Very well and very diplomatically stated, change can be a very touchy subject for fans of Everquest. Especially for players on the non official servers, who are going out of their way to avoid change, 25 years later they still want the same exact experience. However I am in total agreement with you. What I want in 2025+ from an "EQ3" would be the extreme class interdependence that brings people together and makes us rely on one another, forging friendships, in a recognizable Norrath. The rest is up to the talented people at Daybreak, and hopefully they can deliver. And if they don't... EQ1 isn't going anywhere :)

You could literally just remake the original though and everyone would be happy. Take out what doesn't work, improve and add upon what does work and bring it up to modern standards with the old look and feel with updated graphics. That's where the magic is. Don't deny it

Getting rid of the server sending all NPC data client-sided at all times regardless of the player's distance to the NPC would be a great fix for EverQuest both current and new. Especially for TLP servers where at least 95% of players are using EQShow commonly referred to as "Eyes". Also having effective means of enforcing true box rules would be great.

There are various reasons on why I am unable to do this. It's not a choice, it's a contractual limitation (on my end, not Daybreak).

Capturing the old feel of EverQuest would require no in-game store, no cosmetics, and no microtransactions of any kind whatsoever. Just a subscription model only. I want to know what quests someone has done, monsters conquered, and epics completed based on what they are wearing. I don't want a level 1 to have better-looking gear than a level 50 just because they clicked a "buy now" button. That kills the game for me. I don't care if it takes a $250 / Month sub to keep microtransactions away. I'll pay it.

YES!!! Just charge me more per month!! Most EQ players are middle aged and we have been in our careers for 20+ years. We can afford to spend the money on a massive monthly subscription to keep the Pay-to-Win model away. $250 is peanuts when compared to what you get in return.

Honestly it feelsl like the few people who still play just want the game to die.....This game needs innovation I love the ip and i just feel like the ones that want the game to be better and fresher are over shadowed by the everquest boomers that should honestly just play project instead.

The problem is we do not need another game, just EverQuest. No other game has been able to capture what was put into EQ.
