Specially she is here even if she is extremely nice young lady you can’t believe how the environment can change you. It happened to us from a such a good girl finished college and ended with bad friend .sometimes friends can ruin your life if you let them but when they are that age it happens to a lot of them in America. Be careful. 😊❤

Hi from Liverpool! Love the vlogs, a great insight into moving to Florida. On the SD card, if you take the card out of the camera and offload onto your Mac, once you have offloaded and moved the files to the trash, make sure you empty the trash as this will ensure the SD card knows you’ve deleted the files otherwise it can think it is still full. Look forward to the next one.

I am not surprised at the way the school has handled your change of enrollment. I would suggest speaking to a lawyer. My youngest son just graduated from HS this past June. It was the biggest relief to get out of the school system. Now, he’s going to college and they still require him to get a physical every year. It’s just ridiculous. I’m sorry you are having to deal with the bureaucracy, and it was refreshing to hear your honest point of view. Thank you Katie for another fun vlog!

I'm happy to hear you managed to get Zara into the local school . It did surprise us when we moved here that schools have their own immunization program . As for your contact with the other school, all I can advise is getting the contract in front of a lawyer to look for a loopbhole.

I am not a fan of pink but I really liked your new teeshirt with its washed out/denim look..looked good on you. Cripes - when you were saying about the immunizations it took me right back to 1996 when I was trying to get my 2 into a local California elementary school. We arrived in July and no places. We were in Singapore for 2 years before coming to the US. Prior to leaving Scotland for Singapore my 2 had every jabbed/shot possible (including yellow fever, BCG, Hep A & B) and thankfully I had very good written records to prove it. But I still had to battle because “they” were unfamiliar with the type of record. I stood there and had to explain every single word. Basically because the paperwork did not conform with what they were used to they were suspicious it was fake. Ever so grateful to the school office clerk who helped and was patient ….. she and I are still friends all these years later. Poor Zara - all those shots, she is a real trooper. My two literally got into the closest school 1 week before school started. Someone else has already commented (very succinctly) about the wellness checks. Understanding school is going to be a challenge. My suggestion would be find out if the school wants volunteers (for which you will have to go through background checks). Easier in elementary rather than middle school. I didn’t for the first year but should have done. When I did, I volunteered in the classroom and also in the library, and slowly it began to make more sense. And I had people I could ask to explain things to me. Regarding the headache with the private school, someone already commented to check the local library to see if they have an attorney who holds a weekly clinic. All practicing attorneys have to pass what is called the Bar Exam and they are then members of the Bar Association for that State. All Bar Associations encourage their attorneys, especially newer qualified, to do ProBono work…. that is advice for free. Florida State Bar Association may have further details on their website. And speaking of NHS and US Medical Insurance, that is another big one to wrap your head around. You replied to a comment that you have health insurance which is great but for me, understanding how it worked those first couple of years, was very, very difficult…..it’s was a whole new world of terminology- HMO, PPO, EPO, deductibles, out of pockets, out of network, Open Enrollment. Please feel free to ask anything - Gillian in California.

I love the speed you get your videos up, can't get more current than what you're doing. Wow, can't believe the problems you're having with Zara's schooling - good that you've eventually got a place at the local school but the other problems! I wish I was able to offer you advice - I hope you get it sorted soon - and they're supposed to be Christians! On a lighter note, great choice for food there with Longhorn. Winter Haven's a lot more relaxed (and, we think, better quality) than the same chain restaurants on either I Drive or 192. We always go to that Longhorn a couple of times when we come across. We like Manny's (best to call ahead) but find that Longhorn's better quality. Lots of other restaurants I'm sure you've discovered, places like Texas Roadhouse, Cheesecake Factory etc - drooling already. You've also got Magical Dining Month coming up (16 Aug to 30 Sep) - top-end restaurants with prix fixe menus for either $40 or $60 - enjoy.

It is so interesting to learn of these cultural differences in how countries handle things. As an American with health insurance, I take "wellness visits" as a basic part of my healthcare that is not only free to me but if I miss too many of them my provider will not write me prescriptions or give me referrals. Also the school story is crazy but I am glad that your daughter has gotten a place at the local school where she can make friends from your local area.

I’m learning every day on all of these different things. If you were taking regular medication in the UK then you would visit the doctor maybe once a year or 6 months to review that but that’s it, if your not taking anything then unless you become ill then you wouldn’t see a doctor at all. They certainly wouldn’t be able to cope with giving children a physical for school, no way at all, the NHS is at breaking point! It will take me a while to get used to the system here and how the insurance works :-) I’m so pleased about the local school too, thanks for watching xx

Great vlog! About the BBQ I have seen people using an uncooked half potato to prevent the meat from sticking and they used an half onion to clean the grill. Maybe you should try it out?

Hi! Love your videos. It looks like you’re using the DJI Pocket 2. To reset your skid card here’s what you do. It’s happened to me several times. After turning on the camera slide the viewing screen down. You’ll see a rotary icon. Select the rotary icon. In the top right hand corner you’ll see the SD card storage. Click on that. Next click the format button and that should reset it so you’ll have storage again. Hope that helps!

Katie I can see the school keeping the initial payment, but to keep on paying the rest of the year, no way. I would contact a lawyer, see if the can help you, but first go to your library. Next thing I would do is go to your local library, tell them your are having a problem, school related contract, many times they will know of people that do volunteer work, and direct you without cost.

We are really happy with Pulte, up to now we have only had small snagging issues which they have dealt with. Our site manager was amazing during the build and sent us weekly emails with pictures and lots of details as we were out of the country. I can’t really say anything bad to be honest. It’s so hard choosing a builder as you hear so many horror stories! Thanks for watching xx

I would review the school contract carefully and see what can be done. If not, you can get free legal advice if you look around online. Regarding the immunizations, yeah, schools here in Florida are sticklers for shots being up to date. But if for whatever reason you don't want your daughter to get all these shots there is an opt-out form you can get from a pediatrician. Public schools in Florida can't turn students away if they aren't immunized. I work in the school system in Tampa and there's plenty of kids that aren't immunized by parent's choice.

Hi Katie! My husband and I love orlando ,Disney World , Magic kingdom my fav! Haunted Mansion is my absolute favorite! Have you gotten to go to Gideons Bakeshop in Disney Springs? Absolutely love that place also. I love all the little characters in there. They have I believe two times a day you can get their warm cookie of the day with ice cream, if I remember correctly. I like the little menus they give out while you’re waiting in line. When you do get a chance and go to Gideons can you grab a card for a new friend in Oklahoma? Lol

Sorry about the school situation, see if you can negotiate with them and hopefully given there is still time you may be able to reach a compromise but I think even in the UK there will be a cut off point where even if you withdraw your child from a school you're still on the hook for the tuition for the year. Keep insisting that you cannot pay anymore and you're happy to forgive the amount you've already paid and most of the time they will not go down the legal route. Just don't ignore it in case they send it to collections which can affect your credit score. Keep the dialogue going but keep pushing back. I've never heard of starting to pay fees before school starts though, that's strange. Our kid also started at a private school and is now in a public school part of the Chicago public schools.

Thank you :-) yes Zara went to a private school in Qatar and they always said you had to give one terms (semester) notice to leave otherwise you would be responsible for the fees. This contract doesn’t mention anything about part of the year it’s just all one 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m hoping to sort it this week or I will get legal advice. I will update on this weeks vlog :-) xx

I don’t know about the schools situation as I’m from the uk, but I hope you get it sorted💜and I think you e been so reasonable with them even saying they can keep the money you’ve given them so far, as many people would have tried to get that back and I think that was very good of you both!And I 100% agree they should not be taking further Money, that’s unbelievable. I wonder if there’s a clause in the small print that says how you get out of the contract or maybe something online where it’s happened to other couples? My kids were born here and I only moved from one county to another. They gave me so much trouble over enrolling my boys with their stupid requirements like proof of address - I gave them a copy of my lease agreement but they insisted on bills also. I didn’t have a bill for 30 days lol. I would suggest getting an opt out form and submitting that so she can get registered and then turn in the shot records once done. The private school - did you put your social security number on there? If no social I don’t think it’s enforceable credit wise. Look for a clause on there for breaking contract. Walk In clinics can do a school physical for you.

@@julesvlogs2222 thank you. I was lucky with the proof of address they just accepted the email from the builder that we were moving to the area as like you didn’t have any bills. It’s hard getting all of the paperwork together isn’t it, you have to be super organized. The shots have been done now thankfully after sitting 2 hours at a walk in clinic on Saturday so just the physical and we are done 👏🏼 with the other school contract I’m hoping they will just release us from it and thinking about it I don’t think I did put my ssn on it, I’ll have to go back and check xx

@@Katiesfloridalife things must of changed with the shots requirements in general. for me to get my green card initially I had to get the MMR as part of immigration!! I was 24 and had already had chicken. pox, measles and all the childhood viruses (pox parties, remember those?!!) was not getting a green card without the vaccines so I had them lol

Florida schools are pretty particular about vaccination records. We are American but moved to Florida and had to quickly get an appointment so the new doctor could enter vaccinations into Florida data base. As far as Christian school,surely they can’t make you pay if you’ve given notice. It’s not like she started the year and then withdrew.

Thankfully all of the vaccinations have been done this week and the school have everything they need :-) its just hard when you don’t know all of this info but I’ll get used to it all I’m sure xx

I am guessing that you must have American Health Insurance through your husband's job if you are living here. With American Health Insurance annual physicals or "wellness visits" are considered preventative care and by law are covered at 100% no deductible under American insurance. Usually most vaccines are considered preventative care also. You can also go to any "Urgent" care clinics to get school or sport physicals and vaccines. Urgent care clinics are everywhere. Keep in mind if your child wants to participate in a sport usually physicals are required also. The AMA (American Medical Association) sets the "standards" for medical care in the US and annual physicals became a recommendation for care here in the U.S. starting in the 1920's. The theory is if you can catch a medical issue early before it becomes a real problem, you have a better chance of curing it or fixing it before it becomes a serious problem. For children they are checking for any development problems, administer vaccines, etc. Mandatory vaccines for school started as early as the 1850's (in Boston for small pox) but in most states it really started in the 1950's and 60's when there were big outbreaks in schools of measles, polio, etc. Children were dying and so it became mandatory for the safety of the children in schools. Because it was mandatory a lot of the childhood diseases became eradicated. Now some of these diseases are making a comeback because of some people now that don't believe in vaccines.

I’m all for her being vaccinated, she had them this morning in fact :-) I was just suprised at how hard it was to actually get, took over 7 weeks. I called quite a few urgent care places but they wouldn’t do vaccinations, only physical once the vaccinations were done. It will just take me time to get used to this new medical system as it’s very different from the UK and also Qatar, neither of those countries offer yearly preventative checks for children. We do have insurance yes and I will be getting everything we need from now on :-) it’s a shame things are going around again if people are not getting vaccines, I certainly don’t want Zara to be poorly!! Private school parent of more than a decade, if they refuse to cooperate just stop paying them, send a letter that you are not enrolling your daughter and make them come after you, that means they have to get into a legal tussle. I know that sounds unethical but I have had several friends do it that way and no school has ever come after them.
