The intrusion in Ethiopia is rather concerning despite it slowing down, especially after that magnitude 5 quake. From what I've learned from Iceland since 2021, especially since October 25 last year when that Svartsengi intrusion started, an eruption is preceded by a magnitude 5 quake. I know thats not always the case, but when I heard about it now, I'm concerned.

Thank you for your brilliant and informative videos. I have really learnt a lot about volcanoes. Some of which I never knew existed.

Formula 1 was just in Mexico City this weekend racing. When I go back and rewatch the track action over the coming week, I'll be pausing helicopter shot to see if the ash cloud is visible. I heard nothing of it on the broadcast. This is the first I've heard it was erupting.

Is there a statistical number of small eruptions that are precursors to massive eruptions? More likely? Less likely?

Fun fact: Popocatépetl it's not in México City, while it is close, it actually sits between 3 states. In Mexico City there are extinct volcanes like the Ajusco and Xitle. The remains of the last eruption of the Xitle can still be found on the nearby University and archeological site.
