Thank you for posting Tara. Especially because you don't have to and this is a privilege for people to hear your real time experience and pain. Thank you for also mentioning how traumatic it is for black people to constantly see this 'trauma porn' of black death being shared everywhere. It's deeply painful and traumatizing for us. And I think it's shared under this notion that if willfully ignorant white people see a video of clear murder for the 45th time, maybe THEN they will be convinced that there is a problem. They won't. And that's why I appreciate you sharing legitimate ways to help the black community and overall development of this nation by more constructive means. I also want to say thank you for sharing your experience because it makes me feel less alone with the deep sadness and depression this has brought on. Anyway, I hope you're taking time for self care in whatever ways that bring the most comfort. Peace.

Tara, I'm so glad I found your KZbin page! I am from Minneapolis but have been living in California (San Diego and now L.A.) for the last 17 years. I appreciate your heartfelt words. It's been difficult for me to be away from home during this difficult time. I'm glad you are there (in Minneapolis) caring and taking action to help.

Everything surrounding George's death is so frustrating. Like with the Amy Cooper woman. She wanted what happened to George to happen to Christian. And seeing these two situations side by side is so tiring because they really represent the flow of racism in this country. I really do love America, I love NC but the roots of racism makes me want to leave. I think begging for white people to see our humanity is something I'm tired of doing. My Blackness should not strike fear. I'm sorry Tara, I'm with you ✊🏾

Exactly!! Literally, the Amy Cooper situation (SPOILER FOR THE FILM GET OUT)..... ..... reminded me of the ending of Get Out when the white girlfriend sees the police pulling up, calls out for help, and our protagonist thinks he’s done for. Except, this is real life. And I’m sick of it.

The video of this poor man's murder will probably stay with me forever.. I am so upset and frustrated. The heartlessness and evil I see in some of these people who are supposed to serve and protect us is frightening.. My heart should not skip a beat when I see a cop, even though I'm not doing anything wrong, and yet it does. It shouldn’t be that way.. My biggest fear is them pulling me over for some frivolous reason and then have something bad happen. George Floyd did not put up any resistance in any of the videos I've seen so far.. To compound the situation for African American men, it is so frustrating when other citizens, who have never walked in our shoes, have a hard time understanding what this feeling of fear is like when we see a cop.. Easy for me to say, but, please don't let this get you down too much. You are doing the right thing by getting involved and helping in your own way! It is also good you posted this video, which, in itself, is actually a cathartic thing to do in this situation! Thanks for posting it! Let's stay strong!

The fear is real, and it’s totally warranted in this country (this is my father by the way, everyone)

Thank you so much for sharing. All you said is poignant and wise. As a white person I know I have 100% benefited from white privilege, institutional racism and implicit bias and while I am continuously working to be a better ally and do the hard work of examining my own biases and calling them out in others among other actions I sometimes am at a loss for what more to do. So thank you for sharing these resources. They were new to me and I deeply appreciate the time and energy and vulnerability it took to put this on the internet.

As someone who has only lived in a very safe country in Europe the whole police brutality topic was something that was quite unfamiliar and strange to me but i got to search about it and i read a lot the last days and i am just in such a weird state, i feel so stunned. this world aches so much right now, i cant take it anymore and maybe i should just stop looking at media and news..for my own mental health. but i also want justice and dont wanna look away

Thank you for sharing and being so honest, Tara. You are absolutely right in that this is not a new occurrence. People have a right to be frustrated and fed up with a system that simply does not value the lives and contributions of people of colour, especially the black community. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in Minneapolis. And the Google doc you linked is really helpful, as someone in Australia who can't protest or vote in the US, I want to support in any way I can.

I hear you and I appreciate you sharing, Tara. I hope you are able to take time for rest and staying hydrating and doing what you need to stay sane. As a fellow Minneapolis resident, I am doing whatever I can to seek justice for George Floyd. It feels like small steps, but every bit counts. I appreciated Andrea Jenkins's comments during the city council meeting today. She laid it out: racism is a public health issue. And the city of Minneapolis needs to declare a state of emergency. It is an awful, awful time. I have donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, I have donated to Unicorn Riot, and the family's GoFundMe and I am about to call Mayor Frey's office. More must continue to be done until we address racism as a public health issue and stop maintaining a white supremacist system, and a militant police as an extension of that.

Hey Tara, thanks for posting. Honestly I know I need a distraction, I’m trying to spend less time on social media, just because people that I follow are posting the picture of George Floyd and it’s upsetting. I haven’t seen the video and I don’t plan on it, but I’m just trying to keep myself positive by doing self-care activities, and I hope you are too Tara. I don’t even really know what to say that would make things seem better, because really the same things are happening over and over again and it seems like it’s a never ending cycle

Hi Tara, I was actually gonna check on you to see if you were doing okay.. knowing in you’re Minneapolis, I’m about 15 mins from everything. It’s so crazy, and scary, and infuriating. I share my heartbreak with you and everyone in the black community. I feel that way too that everything is spiraling out of control.. but please stay hopeful. Hopefully something will change. ❤️ -Angela

Can you imagine killing some random dude on the street and your punishment is you just get fired? Like that's insane! How in the fuck is that normal!? . After watching the whole vid: . Damn all this shit sucks so much. Even just watching it affect you is hard. I'm fucking sorry it's like this, and I'm sorry for all the folks who have to directly deal with this shit on a day to day basis.
