I got a great deal on frozen turkey on Monday ($.29/pound) but didn't have room in my freezer. So I defrosted it in the refrigerator, and I'm roasting it today. I'll also make turkey stock today with the carcass and frozen vegetable trimmings. Nobody says you need to wrestle the turkey on Thanksgiving day.

I love shopping at Aldi.s and trader joe's but you do have to read the labels. I have a heart condition so I have to reduce all processed foods, salt, dyes, MSG, and sugars. I buy only the organic veggies so not to get pesticides in our food. I absolutely love there organic granola which they have in a chia and coconut as well as a flax seed and pumpkin seed variety. I have them with some whole milk plain yogurt and some fruit on top. There grass fed beef is wonderful. I found that on Tuesday and Wednesday in the mornings they discount meats that are about 2 days out from expiring and reduce them by 50% off. They have a high protein bread as well that we love for breakfast with eggs. Aldi's has a great selection of hard cheeses as well that we like. With reducing all our meals to a whole foods diet we have actually saved a ton on our food budget each month. Our health and energy are so much better.

Half the house, including me, has walking pneumonia. So what I cook depends on how I'm feeling by Thursday. I'm supposed to be making Nutella pies, brownies, baked beans, and dressing for a get together (husband's aide of the family) and then a ham, rolls, green beans, twice baked potato casserole for here. My older daughter is 25 and making a couple of things for here and my younger daughter is going to help me, too. My 25 year old has graduated college and moved out and I have 3 kids still at home - 21 (she's in college), 18 (he's a high school senior), barely 9 (he's in 2nd grade).

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! It's just the 2 of us for Thanksgiving, so we're getting a chicken from Costco on Wednesday to have on Thursday. We'll have all the fixins with it, but a much smaller scale. I've purchased sweaters for our pup and have found I need to size up for her. She's 13lbs. and a small should work, but they are always tight. So, I go medium.

Heyyyy Jen! We usually don't do the traditional Thanksgiving meal. I'm doing a meatloaf! Our son and his girlfriend are coming. She is a little food picky so I'm also doing chicken and rice.
