I'll give you at least two big mistakes you made with the concrete pour. Number one it doesn't appear you tamped the soil because it needs to be packed before you pour concrete on it otherwise the weight of the concrete will pack the soil causing the concrete to crack. You could slow the cracking of the concrete if you had installed wire or rebar throughout the floor of the concrete. The cheaper thing is to use fencing wire because it stops concrete from continually cracking. When a crack develops the fencing wire stops it from growing. I can guarantee you you're going to have that problem. I hope somehow you get lucky but I have my doubts.

It's the one thing you do PERFECTLY! The rest of the stuff you do is pretty damn good too, just do Matt. Matt. I think if you & Kirsten work together, you can accomplish much more, unless she is unable to help. It seems you want to do it all yourself, but sometimes you need help. Don’t be afraid to ask her to help you. I helped my husband by striking up the block & brick he laid on our house. I brushed on 2 layers of Therasil on our walk out basement, & followed it with a layer of tar. I swept out a lot of water off on the plywood floor when it rained. (We had a guy come to put down the real wood floor) I I loaded 30 solid brick in to a wheelbarrow at the back of our property & pushed it into our basement, so my husband would be able to build a brick fireplace in our basement. I did that 3 times. The only thing is I pulled ligaments in my back. The doctor told me my back wouldn’t heal unless I took off from work, which I did. What I’m trying to say is that I helped my husband all I could until I got hurt. I think the 2 of you would work great together! Then it wouldn’t be soo hard on you. We really like your videos, but this one was way too short. Have a nice Thanksgiving!

Pro tip, since it's hot weather, always have retarder added to mix, it slows the cure time. You want a slower cure time on all slab work, giving maximum time to finish and it allows the slab to cure more evenly so it doesn't crack.

Great Video like always! Two tips for concrete slabs. 1) Put some reinforcement in the slab, type net-reinforcement or at least using chain link fence. Preferably lifted off the ground so it becomes embedded in the concrete. It may not stop cracking 100% but will clearly help a lot and the cracks will be much smaller. Actually, even steel fibers can be used (added at the batching plant), but depends on availability. 2) To give you time for placement AND smoothening of the surface, the batching plant probably has admixture available that can give you a couple of hours extra (or more) of delayed setting. Especially if high temperatures or if you are strapped for manpower. May cost less than extra hands. Best of luck with the next slabs coming up!!
@scottmarkham9466Сағат бұрын
While you are making a "concrete" slab, you typically need to incorporate steel reinforcement, commonly called "rebar", within the concrete to significantly increase its tensile strength and prevent large cracks, especially in situations where the slab will experience heavy loads; essentially, the steel works with the concrete to create a stronger structure overall.

I guess someone gave you the same recommendations but you should use wire mesh or iron bars as concrete strengthen..Also you should compact the soil before pouring the concrete..Other recommendation is to shower the concrete with a hose..That avoids fast dry and consequently crakings..

If it really rains that much in your PR location, consider getting a 10'x10' popup tent to cover your work area and can be moved easily. Consider something larger (party tent) for house build. They are not that expensive, will allow working in rain and make for a cooler work area due to shading.
