When Jen does a 'visiting every station' video, she always visits at least some of the surrounding area. And that is an extra factor to make the video worth watching. 😁

Did visit the Disused Station of Wolverhampton Low Level last year as it was one of those 'bucket list' locations, was really impressed with how much was there. Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury is a nice route and Bilbrook and Codsall mainly end up in the top 10 of Staffordshire least used stations but mainly between 5 to 10 so they not that least used. Great video Jen.

The bridge at Codsall that you enthuse about is, in reality, but a shadow of its former self. It was struck by a engineers' vehicle in 2005. It was rebuilt using as much of the original as possible and other replicated parts. Most folks couldn't tell the difference. It's just a few stops away from my local station.

It was called Shrowsbury in Elizabeth 1st time but over the years it got changed to SHREWSBURY

Nice vlog Jen. I’ve visited every station on the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line now. I also did the 20 minute walk between Billbrook and Codsall although the little cut throughs did make it feel like I was walking through someone’s back garden. Cosford is one of my favourite stations with interesting views of the RAF Cosford base and the private planes.

I travelled this line a lot going to & from Aberystwyth University from 1999 to 2005 - originally used 86/87 MK2 coaches then with the brand new 390 trains. Wolverhampton low level! I just recently read that the trains from London to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli used to stop there, maybe even have a change of locomotive. All the way back in the day. Direct trains from London, can you imagine that? The Cambrian Line needs to get double-tracked really badly!

As a Londoner places like Wolverhampton confuse me. It seems incomplete and trying to be new and failing with the worse of modern buildings. Like many areas its "place" was probably at its best in the Mid 1960s and every "improvement" since then has managed to take away more than it supplies. Despite working in Birmingham 35 years ago I only visited Wolverhampton for a couple of hours abour 6 years ago, then passed through on a coach service at bit after that.

With the announcements of trains on that line being cancelled due to a landslide in Wellington and to take the rail replacement bus, and the forecast of snow, I'll hazard a guess this was filmed the Friday before Easter 2024? This was the day services restarted on the line I believe, which was too late for us and our direct New Street to Aberystwyth train on the Wednesday before - rail replacement from Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury and having to leave home one and a half hours earlier than planned 😭

@andyt2510
@andyt2510 Ай бұрын
@@JenOnTheMove that was lucky - the landslide happened 1 week later (the announcements must of been for a planned closure for unrelated work the following weekend). We have not had good luck with trains this year - 2 trips away and both disrupted by landslips (the first near Rugby in February). Though it does seem we were following you (and London Boy!) in March by going through Shrewsbury and calling at all stations on the Cambrian Coast and Main lines, the Conwy Valley line and the North Wales Main Line!
