Hi, my name is Michael & I am a 3-year vet of rockhounding, thanks to you. My journey started on the Oregon coast & has now taken me all over the West Coast & beyond collecting material. Almost all of my adventures have been inspired by your show & I still remember the first Currently Rockhounding video I watched, it explained the many variances of what an agate is or could be. I am putting my hat in the ring to take possession of your custom belt sander because while I have a lot of material now, I still don't have any tools to work on them, which is my dream. It would be really neat if my first piece of equipment was also from you who have become my digital rock Sensai, thank you for your dedication, knowledge & consideration :)

I just sold my vintage Highland Park cabbing machine two days ago. It had two 8 inch expandable drums, two rough wheels, and one round polishing end. I loved that machine but it was just two big to run in my little apartment and i couldn't lug it outside because it was screwed to the table. So I've been researching these wet belt sanders to do my shell polishing work. Thanks for this video, love your work!

I'm in Virginia, let's leave HP out of this - to mend broken fences - I'll meet you halfway, say Cahokia, across the mighty Mississippi from St.Louis. that should give us both a bunch of terrain for impromptu rockhounding. Right in the middle of crap weather, what an adventure! Whoever gets this piece is getting a wonderful device, with your improvements, and what an honor to receive such incredible charity, from both shops over a bad situation. Absolutely love how you are handling this! I’ll put my name in for the sander I live in Leeds, Utah

Count me in! Thanks for making quality content and can’t wait to see what’s next for your shop/machine business✌️ …and John’s reply to all this haha 😂

Good luck and I just hope John backs up his offering up of this machine he gave me to someone else by handling the packing and shipping.

I'll throw my hat in the ring also Jared! What a good idea - I've got a shop that water won't be a problem in so this would work fine. I expect it would work well for thundereggs. Thanks for being honest 😊

I've walked away for companies like highland park before, because of the lack of customer service. I get the frustration I hear in your voice. That said I am in Northern CA, but I would be down for a drive to Utah,, it's only an 11-12 hour drive. I'd be able to stop to check out a couple of spots on the way there or back.

If you win, it sounds like you will be having a fun rockhounding road trip.

Well hailing from Canada and while would be cool to get this machine shipping up here not feasible I would LOVE to come to Utah to meet you both as I enjoy your honesty and experiences....maybe in the future :) keep up the great videos!

John didn't say that the location of the person he was willing to give my machine mattered, so he should cover it. You could also take a Utah road trip if he bails on his offer to give it away.

I’ll throw my name in the hat as well. Sorry for the conflict, love your work and perspective. Hope it all blows over quickly. You’re offering clear, constructive advice, worth it’s weight in gold. And honestly considering the feedback it would benefit the business, the machines they produce and the Rockhounds who buy them!

My wife and I look forward to each new show you produce. We have learned so much! I would gladly pay you for this grinder, but if you want to give it away we could give it a very good home. :) We love our Highland Park 16" Slab Saw and are looking forward to the CB8 Cabbing Machine with variable speed. Just got the variable speed tumbler and am looking forward to experimenting with it. If you ever get to Arizona, come on by and I will show you our Tumble Rougher. I would love to stop by and shake your hand and pick this thing up.

I appreciate your intelligent but respectful reportage with the manufacturer (highland park) and us, your viewers. It can be difficult to speak truth to power in cases where: “They are big, you are small. They are powerful and you are not. They are right and you are wrong”. I talk of course about the attitude of large corporations and politicians and not of the courageous individuals who, like yourself, stand up to them with the goal of highlighting the reality of the situation and cutting through the BS marketing nonsense we have thrown our way in such circumstances. I am a newby in the lapidary arts but a lifelong rock hound and mineral lover. I have found that spending time in my garage polishing rocks that I have found in the wild has been a great way to practice and gain skills before investing in rare or valuable stones that would be a shame to destroy. It’s also a great reason to spend time in nature as living in Northern California gives me the opportunity to commune with some beautiful scenery. I would love the opportunity to add a tool such as the sander you are giving away to my small but growing accoutrement of rock working equipment and would be thrilled to combine a trip to receive the tool with an opportunity to spend some time with you learning anything I can in the time you have available. Thanks for all of your content and the time and energy needed to produce it!

Thank you for the kind words! I'm just a guy with a camera that wants to share and promote rockhounding and lapidary as hobbies people can enjoy. Good luck!

I wouldn't buy one, but I could certainly put it to use for free! :) Also, I live fairly far away from you so John will have a nice shipping bill! lol!

I am completely obsessed with rockhounding, rock cutting, rock polishing, watching rock videos, reading about rocks and I’m just as excited about the rocks as I would be about the wet belt sander. I, however, could make this sweeter for you by saying I live in Canada.. Shipping would be spendy 😂😂 PS I realllly want it/them!!!
