Hi, my name is Michael & I am a 3-year vet of rockhounding, thanks to you. My journey started on the Oregon coast & has now taken me all over the West Coast & beyond collecting material. Almost all of my adventures have been inspired by your show & I still remember the first Currently Rockhounding video I watched, it explained the many variances of what an agate is or could be. I am putting my hat in the ring to take possession of your custom belt sander because while I have a lot of material now, I still don't have any tools to work on them, which is my dream. It would be really neat if my first piece of equipment was also from you who have become my digital rock Sensai, thank you for your dedication, knowledge & consideration :)

I just sold my vintage Highland Park cabbing machine two days ago. It had two 8 inch expandable drums, two rough wheels, and one round polishing end. I loved that machine but it was just two big to run in my little apartment and i couldn't lug it outside because it was screwed to the table. So I've been researching these wet belt sanders to do my shell polishing work. Thanks for this video, love your work!

@@CurrentlyRockhoundingI just have a lot of respect for your content, and what I said is how I feel. I am currently in college to become a geochemist. I appreciate your REAL rockhounding and honest finds, which are rare on social media. The reason I commented was simply to let people who watch this video know about the value you provide! As someone who doesn't have a bunch of money to make mistakes on buying faulty or less than promised equipment. I have gained a great deal from your ingenuity and tips. I'll put my hat in, I've never had an issue with Highland Park Lapidary and would love another piece of their equipment. Always get what I order and never had issues with my tumblers or saw that I purchased from them. John has helped me with old saws in the past and has been a pleasure to talk to in my experience. So hopefully you will do a live drawing, or I would suspect that if my comment was picked, you would just pick again. 😂

I'm in Virginia, let's leave HP out of this - to mend broken fences - I'll meet you halfway, say Cahokia, across the mighty Mississippi from St.Louis. that should give us both a bunch of terrain for impromptu rockhounding. Right in the middle of crap weather, what an adventure! Whoever gets this piece is getting a wonderful device, with your improvements, and what an honor to receive such incredible charity, from both shops over a bad situation. I see a lot of Rock's (Texas Rock's) evolution in that red hood and silver end lap, and more evolution after you got ahold of it. Cool premise!

Hey Jared, we’ve been watching you for years and you are the OG to us as we got into the rock world by finding your channel and watching. You’ve taught us a lot! We are wanting to get into lapidary. We travel right through your area every March and we’d love to take that sander with Jared engineered improvements off your hands!

Not a lapidary person but I am a fan of your channel and also a fellow consumer of goods and services. I just cannot believe that the owner of a company would publicly respond to your concerns. It should have been taken care of via private channels. No matter who is wrong or right, he and his company end up looking bad as a result.

I love it that John Rowland is stepping to take customer service seriously. It should not have taken you sounding your grievances and others having to do the same to get things taken care of We are not asking for gold, just equipment that works when you invest so much in the equipment. I will reconsider my opinion on this company if they take care of the problems with the customers! Would love to have something besides a flex arm rotar tool lol. You do with what you have!

Hi, just saw your video about how much you hate your Highland Park Lapidary wet belt sander. If you were serious about giving it away, please enter me in the drawing. With all the adjustments you made to it, it sounds like it's much better than when you got it! I live in Nevada, so no reason to involve John in the shipping! I could arrange to pick it up. Thanks, Mary

I've walked away for companies like highland park before, because of the lack of customer service. I get the frustration I hear in your voice. That said I am in Northern CA, but I would be down for a drive to Utah,, it's only an 11-12 hour drive. I'd be able to stop to check out a couple of spots on the way there or back.

I’ll throw my name in the hat as well. Sorry for the conflict, love your work and perspective. Hope it all blows over quickly. You’re offering clear, constructive advice, worth it’s weight in gold. And honestly considering the feedback it would benefit the business, the machines they produce and the Rockhounds who buy them!

My wife and I look forward to each new show you produce. We have learned so much! I would gladly pay you for this grinder, but if you want to give it away we could give it a very good home. :) We love our Highland Park 16" Slab Saw and are looking forward to the CB8 Cabbing Machine with variable speed. Just got the variable speed tumbler and am looking forward to experimenting with it. If you ever get to Arizona, come on by and I will show you our Tumble Rougher. I would love to stop by and shake your hand and pick this thing up.

I appreciate your intelligent but respectful reportage with the manufacturer (highland park) and us, your viewers. It can be difficult to speak truth to power in cases where: “They are big, you are small. They are powerful and you are not. They are right and you are wrong”. I talk of course about the attitude of large corporations and politicians and not of the courageous individuals who, like yourself, stand up to them with the goal of highlighting the reality of the situation and cutting through the BS marketing nonsense we have thrown our way in such circumstances. I am a newby in the lapidary arts but a lifelong rock hound and mineral lover. I have found that spending time in my garage polishing rocks that I have found in the wild has been a great way to practice and gain skills before investing in rare or valuable stones that would be a shame to destroy. It’s also a great reason to spend time in nature as living in Northern California gives me the opportunity to commune with some beautiful scenery. I would love the opportunity to add a tool such as the sander you are giving away to my small but growing accoutrement of rock working equipment and would be thrilled to combine a trip to receive the tool with an opportunity to spend some time with you learning anything I can in the time you have available. Thanks for all of your content and the time and energy needed to produce it!
