You know what? There may be some truth to this. Another person we've seen with those eyes is Cavendish, but only when halfway between his normal and Hakuba personalities. There is a theory that Cavendish's sword is a cursed blade and that is the actual origin of Hakuba. Basically the curse is that when you sleep the sword takes over to go do what swords do best. Which would mean that those eyes are actually the sword Durandal's when it's partially taking over. Honestly, I'm starting to think that "cursed blade" really just means a blade with a stronger personality and will.

Has anyone made a theory of a potential connection between Yoru and Mary Geoise yet? Yoru, going by it's shape, seems to be a Kriegsmesser, a type of sword that was particularly popular among mercenaries of the Holy Roman Empire. With Mary Geoise beeing the only holy land we know of, I think there might be a connection. Also the decoration on Yoru's hilt with the pommel slightly resemble the flag of the world goverment. Mihawk having the same eyes as Imu plus his aristocratic mannerisms might also hint at a potential link to the holy land. Just a thought.

Mihawk’s backstory is actually one of the most intriguing, honestly. Hailed as the strongest swordsman in the entire One Piece universe is no easy feat, given how many people we’ve seen wield swords. The strongest swordsman to ever exist is another subject entirely. But to be the strongest in anything is a title only Mihawk, Kaido, and Whitebeard held. Mihawk definitely has some really interesting blood running through his veins. He is definitely Yonko level in terms of strength. And he’s honestly right behind or neck and neck with Shanks for me, with how little we know of them, yet still so intrigued by their backstories and true capabilities.

This made me think that their first interaction was itself a test that stemmed from Yoru's arrogance. At first, he thought Zoro was not able to beat him point blank so he used the little chode knife. But then he eventually saw the three swords specifically and his insane potential. This is where ANOTHER one of Yoru's "rules" could come into play. What if living objects need to fulfill strict conditions, or whatever ties them to that item will restrict their abilities and who they can bond with? What if shanks losing his arm took him out of that running? All that to say, what if another rule is that only someone who has survived against Yoru in battle can wield him at all, just like the two arms? He may have wanted to cheese the rules a bit to give Zoro a chance, so in case there's any like, condition where they HAVE to follow the rules no matter what, mihawk used Yoru on the last strike of the battle specifically because it would qualify Zoro. Like tagging a boss at the last minute in a video game so you get the loot. If I remember correctly, that's around the same time Mihawk realized that Shanks' arm was gone so now that his number 1 pick for his wielder broke the rule and even if he IS the best bar none he can't wield it so Mihawk/Yoru set his sights on Zoro instead. That's my smooth brain head cannon now at least.

Y'know, I've been back to reading the manga, and noticed that in the panel before Zoro finished his final attack against Mihawk in their first duel Mihawk started to sweat a little. Mayhaps Zoro was closer to Mihawk than we initially thought. I mean, the WGS himself had a bead of sweat on his face when Zoro was about to launch his Senzen Sekai, maybe he was forced to change stances unless he had a death wish.

Interesting. Maybe it has this form because it was its previous owner (the one with enough haki to make it a black blade), and before that its form would've looked like what Oda drawn. Which means that young Dracule is actually young Previous Owner X bit still in a way the younger actual for of today's Yoru. I still think it is not possible because in order to be in stalemalte against Shanks Mihawk would need Haki and I'm not sure object can muster that x) But after all maybe it's a sword that ate the human-human fruits model spanish.

12:10 - 12:15 Now I can't stop imagining Zoro getting separated from his swords during a very climatic battle, getting beaten within an inch of his life, and before his opponent can finish him off, Zoro has a flashback to a moment from his training with Mihawk where they talked about swords having their own wills, picking their weilders, etc. and Zoro calls out for Yoru, which out of nowhere flies into his hand, Thor's hammer style. Zoro proceeds to completely destroy his opponent. Then, if this theory is correct, Mihawk (Now one with Yoru) just exists in Zoro's mind now, like a guiding voice that helps Zoro summon Yoru to his hand as a final trump card for intense battles. I feel like I just wrote the premise for a really odd One Piece fanfic

The biggest hole I see in this theory is one that it cut itself. If Yoru rejected Shanks for not having two hands to wield it with, by that same logic it would never accept a wielder who uses three-sword style and would only ever wield it in one hand - or worse, in his mouth. Do you think that Shanks' sword; Gryphon, is a Black Blade? It doesn't look like it, and if it isn't, this would make Shanks' achievements more impressive as he wasn't using a Black Blade and fully relying on the swords power instead of his own, and he was just using a normal sword. This also wouldn't make sense if Gryphon was a completely normal sword, as Shanks' haki mastery is tremendous. It is extremely likely, as if a normal sword had clashed with Magma, The Worlds' Strongest Black Blade, and clashing with Whitebeard, then his swords would've looked like Zoro's swords after he clashed with only The Worlds Strongest Black Blade.

This is a really interesting theory, but as you were explaining the part where mihawk/yoru allied with buggy, I got distracted thinking again about how mihawk can threaten buggy if he cannot cut him. And then I remembered that line from zoro's teacher that a great swordsman can decide when to cut and NOT to cut anything. So I guess mihawk could just decide to bash buggy to death with a haki infused non cutting edge hahaha

I was sitting down and started thinking about one piece. I now have a theory about the end of one piece. I do believe that Fishman island is gonna come into play at the end. and we all know that blackbeard's whole crew are devil fruit users. oda said that one piece would have an emotional ending like Luffy makes Blackbeard and his crew into Fishman island. he will then pop it killing Blackbeard and his crew but also the people there. This shows that he would have to make so many sacrifices for the greater good. but everybody at Fishman island would want this to happen. This is why Luffy would destroy Fishman island. or he could do this but bring the Fishman people out of Fishman island and then do the same. either way, I think Fishman island is going to be useful.
