Enel's always been my #1 villain. The casual brandishing of world ending power is so well done. He adapted very well to Luffy's pokemon rule and even after Luffy nullified his haki, used physics to win by putting the gold ball on him and throwing him off the platform. His ability to go from deathly serious to calm conversationalist to absolutely shocked super jackass clown is just phenomenal. He could come back and do pretty much anything and fit in. He could be a villain again, he could be neutral or he could be an ally and it'd fit in perfectly because he has the personality range for it.

I was actually disappointed by enel and I’m starting to realize it was just me. Like I thought he was badass until we learned that his power was lightning. At that point he stopped being threatening at all cause obviously luffy wouldn’t be able to be hurt by electricity. Plus his electricity was doing like nothing. Most of the Straw Hats have tanked much worse, especially Zoro and Usopp considering they have no enhancements like say, Sanji. The real reason Eneru is a great example of power is his El Thor which has literally destroyed an island. The only other thing in One Piece that did that was the weapon that obliterated Lulusia. Give him a New World buff and he could be Yonko/YC1 level easy

It's an extremely extensive flashback for sure. Basically a mini-arc. I also loved those episodes exploring Noland's relationship with the tribe and how everything was set up in the modern day. We enter Skypiea in the middle of a war between factions. Sooner or later we had to know how it started.

I think Skpeia is a mirror preview of Imu and the Gorosei. Eneru mirrors Imu, The Gorosei are the priests, the God’s Knights are God’s army. Maybe Wiper is Dragon and Ganfal (actual Ganfal not the gorosei one) is one of the marines.

Enel was one of my favorite villains. When he was introduced, he felt invincible. None of the Strawhats, even the monster trio, could do anything. In previous arcs, the goal always felt achievable, but before the reveal of Luffy being immune, this was the first time where the villain was truly unbeatable. I also love how he still achieved his goal, even after losing. If you think about it, it's also really clever from a meta-perspective. Oda guaranteed that the godly Rumble fruit would be unusable as long as Enel still had it up there.

Just for debates sake. I still maintain Dragon was listening in on Luffy and Smoker, likely Luffy and Buggy on the platform, long before Dragon helped save Luffy in Loguetown. Maybe could be argued that's how Mihawk followed Don Krieg to exactly where he was, Mihawk was using advanced observation haki. Always was implied Yasopp is a great sniper, so I imagine he has some advanced observation haki. Van Augur was sniping seagulls above the Sunny from miles away when Chopper noticed, I think that was the beginning of Jaya so right before Skypeia. We don't know much about Crocus, but I've always thought he was much more powerful than he let on. Not like a Yonko power but he could handle his own when aiding Roger if Crocus happened to be up against some of the stronger Whitebeard Commanders.

Given how the Five Elders are named after planets or stars, the fact that Eneru is based on the moon can't be a coincidence. The strongest people and things in One Piece all share the convention of being named after something space related, like the Gorosei, Pluton, Neptune, and the other weapons. LOL.. Yeah I believe Enel will definitely be back in the Post Timeskip era haha! Not to mention become an unlikely ally to Luffy and Dragon. We've seen him slowly gathering some army of robotic creatures across the various moons around the World of One Piece. He's building an army most likely to take back with him to take on the World Government. Based on the fact that the Celestial Dragons pushed out a race of 'sky people' from the red line in the first place.. Enel may be trying to get revenge for his ancestors.... Honestly it would be pretty hilarious in the final fights around the world Government if Enel was returning planetside with his army just for his entire to force to Take and TANK a blast from Uranus or Imu on the way down and indirectly become a hero himself of that country in the process. I very much want to see this happen and think it could lead to some real comedic scenes lol! I have a good feeling Enel and Dragon both have Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits as well, but Enel's wasn't yet awakened..and therefore he was stuck with its base form which turned out to mimic that of a lightning logia. Dragon most likely has awakened his already and thus having an opposite fruit of the five elder stars that would easily already make him an enemy to them regardless of his Revolutionary Army..... I'm almost certain based on all of the Japanese or Eastern Themed Deities we've seen in the story already that Enel and Dragon both respectively have the Mythical Zoans that represent Raijin and Fujin. The Japanese Deities of Thunder and wind. To me this would just make perfect sense... The Pokemon trio of Tornadus, Thunderus, and Landorus believe it or not originally got me thinking about this back in the day as people would talk about which Japanese deities they were supposed to take after. Landorus for some reason in the series was closely related to the 'sun' or the 'sun stone', which I figured was strange because there was no deity for the sun that was related to Raijin or Fujin in Japanese mythos unless you could Amaterasu I guess lol!

The fact that Foxy actually was able to get into a punch-out with Luffy *at all* even if he didn't win the clash is frankly impressive as fuck. Like, the man went punch for punch with a Gum Gum Gatling for several seconds straight while eating hits from it over and over again and he *still* kept on punching. Ignoring *everything else* about the dude, his physical stats were actually impressive as hell in context. Luffy is a straightforward brawler type and Foxy is a trickster type, but Foxy *still* had the physical stats to get into a slug-out with Luffy. We've seen Luffy destroy buildings with his bare hands. Luffy was physically strong enough to go blow for blow with Arlong who was casually turning houses upside down. Foxy fought a Luffy who had also been through Enel and Crocodile so had to be proportionally even stronger than that. The conclusion from this is that Foxy could very well be at *least* as physically strong as Arlong was, which is concerning as hell when you apply that information to a fight with a normal person and add on his slow-slow powers. Foxy is only a joke because his opponent was Luffy. Against anyone who isn't a complete outlier, Foxy is kind of a ringer. @@wickerman2817

I've always loved Enel. Ever since I was a kid, I've always been fascinated by angels and holy imagery, so Skypeia was always one of my favorite arcs, and I had never seen anything quite like Enel as a kid, so he fascinated me. The themes, the design (I wasn't nearly as familiar with Eastern mythologies as I am now), the presence, everything, it was amazing to me. Nowadays I play a lot of Shin Megami Tensei, which explores a lot of divine ideas and especially the idea of a false or unworthy yet still overwhelmingly powerful God archetype, so I can appreciate Enel and everything he represents now more than ever. And his cover story is easily one of my favorite for all of those reasons, seeing where a god goes after he's ripped from his golden throne. I'd personally put him in S tier, but everything you said about the loss of threat when Luffy showed up, and the comparisons to the much more built-up Crocodile and Doflamingo (side note, ever notice how like half of the best One Piece villains are named after animals?) are valid and understandable, so I can see the reasoning for the A tier placement instead.

Skypeia introduced us to the Gorosei, Whitebeard, & the Black Beard Pirates as the Straw Hats were in Jaya making preparations. Then when we get to Skypeia itself we find a dictatorship supposedly run by God & the 3 Hour Contest was incredible as was Deathpeia. It was better than the arcs that came before it & this was where the slow death of Going Merry that would be a huge part of Water 7 started.

Whitebeard in his death foreshadowed exactly how the series will end over the next 5 Years. Egghead is shaping up to be S-Tier & we can only imagine what will happen when Enel returns in the coming arcs. People underestimated Skypeia for nearly 15 years & now some believe that Uranus may be on the White Sea & that the true entrance may be at Elbaf. The sky was a perfect place for hiding lore like Nika thanks to its isolation. I can't wait to see what Oda writes the next few years.

have to agree, Enel is one of my favorite villians of one piece but i also love skypia. the story line with Merry and Usopp hits me so hard over and over thruout the series and the culmination of that story probably hit me the hardest in the whole series. i remember having to pause at Merry's funeral because i couldnt see what was happening because i was openly crying too hard. i really hope that Enel does come back, even if its for a gag bit about how strong the crew has become in his absence cause its been too long and we need another Enel shocked face meme.

Enels biggest weakness was the he came up way to early in the story. He had the potential to be one of the end-level bosses. imagine him with haki and awakening, he would be insanely strong. I would honestly put him on par with Kizaru regarding power. but I guess we will never know.

idk why people always say this. him returning doesnt mean he needs to suddenly be a powerhouse and hold his own against luffy or any of the endgame villains. his return is going to be about the discoveries he made on the moon and how they connect to the void century, hes not going to pull a rob lucci and come back just to have a rematch with luffy (though a rematch is certainly possible). also, its been two years, he easily could have awakened and/or learned other types of haki in that time, plus he has an army of robots. and who knows what else was on the moon for him to have discovered that other characters in the story havent that could give him an advantage in a fight.

Not gonna lie, I think Skypiea is one of my least favorite arcs. But most people tend to hate the lore because it gets in the way of the fights, I actually hate the fights and I think they get in the way of the lore wich is a lot more interesting to me.

I always loved Skypeia . The first ark where we really understood how big this world was and that Lucy defies convention . They literally sailed into the sky . I loved the weirdness of thy sky island soldiers crawling on the ground . The natives that were removed from their homeland , the white supremacist god that dresses like an African warlord . Enel is my favorite villain in all of One Piece and the Skypiea Arc is ma fav arc. I love him because of his very broad personality, his god-complex and his connection to a history we still don't know a lot about. But I also love how he is one of the very few enemies who got beaten thanks to something different than "power-scaling". Enemies that get beaten through cleverness or some odd circumstances are a rarity in todays One Piece. East Blue and Paradise had a bunch of those (Buggy, Sir Crocodile and Enel being the most obvious choices). This made the fight against Enel just even more interesting. Nobody could stand a chance, but then there was Luffy. Heck if it comes to "power-scaling", we have no actual clue where Enel stands. For anything we know, he could have been stronger than a majority of people Luffy encountered below the clouds. I love when such an enemy-encounter isn't just "I am stronger, I will beat him, no matter how long it takes!", but actual thoughtful situations. Luffy having to use water against Sir Crocodile? Clever! Luffy having an advantage against a pseudo-god? Unexpected and epic! Heck, collecting body-parts so Buggy cannot reconnect them? Comedy gold! And yeah, while I absolutely support the concept of God Nika, I feel like it takes away all the possibilities of creative story-telling away in favor of "freedom". Narratively speaking it just makes sense, but I feel like it was introduced too early. However "clever" ideas when it comes to fights are mostly non-existent during the New World anyway, especially when it comes to the "strong" crewmembers and the captain himself.

One category Enel falls short (and both Croco and Flamingo don't) are the henchmen. The upper Baroque agents were just incredible cool, and the Flamingo family was a wide array of quirky characters. And then you have the priests. Satori is basically pre-timeskip Trebol, his defeat felt so good. Gedatsu was just a strong idiot and Shura never felt really threatening. The only priest with some kind of threat level was Ohm - but as the "stoic sword guy", he kinda looses against Mr. 1, at least in my opinion

Enel is S rank IMO. He is similar to frezza he has never needed to do training. A interesting change in Enel. is that he was the oppressor in the sky and in space he is the liberator. The influence of nika has changed him. after knowing how oppression feels. Now he is one of the most free even from gravity.

I really do want Enel to make a comeback like no other. Enel isn't the best as an antagonist towards the Strawhats alone, he's a much bigger menace when he's after anyone else. Luffy really is the worst person Enel ever could've fought, a guy with lightning powers up against a guy made of rubber, of course the gum gum powerhouse is gonna come out on top. But he's still extremely powerful, so him coming down to earth or him plotting against earth from space would be a cool story, especially with the inclusion with the space pirates.

I remember when One Piece surged in popularity in the west, and hearing that people were skipping Skypiea to get to Marineford or Timeskip more quickly. Skypia has always been my favorite arc. It felt the most "adventurey" to me. I love the scene where everyone is praying that the death ball is stopped and then Luffy suddenly destroys the death ball and everyone wonders if there is really a God. Now that I am older I think Oda was implying that "no it's not god, but man." However, my interpretation was "Yes there is a God and He sent the one man in the world (as far as we knew at the time) who could and would stop the false god Enel when you would need salvation the most." I love how Luffy turns despair into hope. Throughout the series whenever the strawhats and others are given the choice to embrace logical despair or ridiculous hope they choose to hope and it is always at that moment when Luffy gets back up and finishes the fight. BTW Many IRL religious experiences are not personal but very public. The miracle of the sun in Fatima was a religious experience/vision witnessed by tens of thousands of people at the same time. Furthermore, it had physical effects on the people ruling out mass hallucination. There are also many healing that occur at events like World Youth Day where there are thousands of people in attendance.

I think something fascinating was the video I saw a while back(might’ve even been on here) discussing how One Piece would’ve worked if it was actually 5 years long as Oda intended. And something that stuck out was the idea that Skypeia is around the 5 year mark, and is likely what the final saga was going to be like, the priests were like the Gorosei, loyal followers to a god like figure. And that godlike figure(Enel/Imu) being capable of destroying entire islands with attacks from the sky. Add the fact that Luffy was the perfect counter to Enel, mirroring how Joy Boy/Nika will be the counter to Imu, and I think Skypeia can be looked back on in the final arc even more fondly than it is now. But also seeing Enel show up and actually fight Imu would be nuts

Enel is also extremely powerful by even modern One Piece standards IMO. He has the ability to turn into a wisp of lightning, allowing him to essentially teleport, he can send devastatingly powerful attacks from long distances and without line of sight, and he can use his abilities in a way similar to sonar allowing him to "see" almost everything in a wide radius the size of a country. These abilities mean that he is essentially an extremely fast, untouchable, extremely accurate artillery piece, seeing from a distance, sending powerful attacks from outside of retaliating distance, and disappearing when the enemy tries to get close. If he didn't have an ego that demanded he face everything head on to prove his unbeatability, he would be by all accounts actually unbeatable.

Enel prop is a massive W. He's my third favourite character in One Piece and second favourite antagonist, after Crocodile. I very much agree that the reason he is lower on people's estimations is because a compelling antagonist has to be imposing, but Oda very much subverts his initial presence by making Luffy his natural counter. Once we got the infamous Enel face, his rep was irreparably damaged. That for me is precisely the brilliance of Skypeia, but for some reason it just reflects poorly in people's minds. If you asked people on their estimations of Enel halfway through the arc, it would probably be way higher since all we knew was that he could hear everything you said an deliver seemingly divine punishment to anywhere on the island without being physically present. He was this omnipresent looming threat. I also love that he represents a depiction of god that rules through fear, yet any of the inhabitants of Skypeia view him as this benevolent being that has mercy on them. It's such a smart take on religion that I think really goes over people's heads. And his line that "Fear itself is God" is iconic. Top tier antagonist imo.
