8:00 I fully agree here. Dragon is the son of an important figure in the marines/WG. Whatever had to happen for him to turn away from that and decide to build up an army of his own to take those guys down HAD to be big. Not to mention he is so dedicated to his goal that he has been working in the shadows, preparing, for over 20 years. Sure there is a lot going on in the world rn that he could get involved in but getting involved rn wont get him any closer to his goal. His goal is to liberate the people from the World Government. Engaging in smaller scale skirmishes at this point would be a waste of his manpower and recourses. They have finally finished preparing and are now lying in wait for the perfect time to hit the WG for real. Dragon said himself that now that they are smothering Mary Geoise all they need to do is wait for the Gods Knights to act. Which is why I don't understand why everyone is expecting him to show up rn. Saturn being on Egghead was a secret even amongst most marines. Dragon wouldn't know. And Kuma running away again was unfortunate but something he couldn't do anything about. Kuma can travel faster than pretty much any other character in the story, they aren't catching him. But even if they were to follow Kuma, they would have to cross the red line too. Dragon won't do anything until the Gods Knights do.

Dragon's "inaction" is similar to what the Cross Guild and Wano represent. It keeps the Navy on guard and prevents them from doing what they want when the enemy's strength is unknown, and the enemy's whereabouts are unknown. It's unpredictable and too much of a gamble to act on, or they'll be at a disadvantage.

People don't realize that Dragon and his connections have saved Luffy more times than anyone else in the story and even aided him when no one else could. Without Dragon, Luffy dies in Loguetown (Saved Twice), Sabaody (Kuma Saves), Impel Down (Iva Saves), Marineford (Iva Saves), and Dressrosa (Sabo Saves). Not to mention Kuma protecting The Sunny for 2 years can only happen because Kuma took interest in Luffy for being the son of Dragon. People give Ws to Ivankov, Kuma, and Sabo for protecting Luffy but forget that those 3 can't without Dragon because Kuma and Iva wouldn't have met Luffy and Sabo would be dead.

Dragon is literally the son of Garp and the father of Luffy. I highly doubt Oda wouldn’t make a character like that a bum. Also, the goal is to eliminate the Celestial Dragons, the main villains of this series are the CDs. Imu, the Five Elders, and the Holy Knights are most likely our final villains of the story, when Luffy becomes King. Having Dragon directly opposing them seems to me like Oda was planning to use him for the Final War from the beginning. Dragon isn’t Luffy, he plans his actions and attacks to make sure his goal is 80%- 100% safe. With Luffy and Garp having Advanced King’s Haki, he obviously has it too. So power wise you know he is, at least top ten twelve. Why would someone going against the actual world be weak? He should at least be an Admiral/Yonko level character power wise.

There's one thing that bothers me about Dragon. He doesn't have a quirk like Luffy or Garp. There's not an ounce of comedy in Dragon's soul. It just really seems like Garp and Dragon aren't actually related. I think Garp adopted Dragon in a similar way to how Dragon adopted Sabo. It makes sanse to me. You know, in researching societal standards for adoption in Japan, I was surprised that it's young men that see the highest rate of adoption. This is because there are a lot of families who adopt purely so they can have a male member to carry on the family name. And a fully formed adult, doesn't require the time investment of a child, so a young man is the optimal choice in most cases. This is all a roundabout way of saying, it wouldn't be weird if Dragon (17) was adopted by Garp at God Valley, from a Japanese perspective.

My best guess is his wife was captured/killed because he started revolts against the World Government and he kept away from Luffy to protect him. When he heard Luffy was becoming a pirate he went and saved his life and is following his pirate career while leading his army. I think the reason Dragon hasn't made big moves yet is that he is a patient planner and wants the best outcome of his war. When more and more people see the God Knights and all the bad they do, more people will want to revolt. Once more nations are ready to turn from the world government, Dragon will make his big move. Dragon the freedom fighter and Luffy the Sun God. Both men will free lots of people!
