Hey! So there's been some new findings courtesy of reddit! Let me break down what we know so far. From what I understand, Knowledge is power is not properly displaying numbers. Which is resulting in damage totals not being what we would expect, people measured the PIXELS IN THIS VIDEO to confirm that hahaha. Also, there is not supposed to be multiple numbers showing when you hit a weakspot. HOWEVER. There are in fact two damage pools being simultaneously affected. Apparently, according to Turtle Rock, the weakpoint system they use on Ogre's and Breakers is the same system they use on regular Mutations and Common. However you can break weakpoints on Ogre's and Breakers, but you cannot do that on other mutations. Soooo the result is that they FORWARD damage to the health of the creature you are attacking. Anyway, this is causing Knowledge is power to misrepresent numbers. Common Ridden seemingly have a breakable weakpoint on their head. So KiP gets even weirder on them when trying out different weapons. The rest of the concepts in the video with mixing and matching things to get benefit out of additive/multiplicative still stand. HOWEVER Turtle Rock did say they are going to be looking at if they need to change anything now, so who knows if cards effects will change over time.

@@fire_ant_187x7 The problem is the other damage types don't mention how they stack or don't with one another, from reading the cards you would expect them to all be working about the same way and they don't. A failure on the devs part to clarify how the systems work and what "damage" vs "bullet damage" vs "weak spot damage" means exactly. It's not a huge deal, it just kind of sucks when there isnt like a help feature tucked into a menu somewhere, that makes it transparent how each system works. Instead we have to try to do testing which relies on the testing tools to be accurate, and is a chore, to figure out this stuff. I know not every player cares too much about this kind of thing, but I find it frustrating when I am given choices, but not really all the information to know what those choices mean. Still a fun game though, have been really enjoying it.

In the Reddit post, the numbers he displayed for total weakspot damage seemed to also be affected by Walker’s damage bonus even though it isn’t a weakspot bonus. So, his character card DOES have an effect on weakspot but regular “damage” cards don’t? Patient Hunter is a damage card that seemed to affect the weakspot damage too though.

+damage not affecting body damage multiplied by weakspot is incorrect, this video is effectively useless, the "base understanding" of how the game actually works was more accurate than what your experiments showed. If you remove the second number, and the first number is not showing the crit multiplier of hitting the weakspot, your entire video is actually giving opposite advice that is negatively effective. Avoiding Glass Cannon, Patient Hunter, cards like these work perfectly fine with weakspot multiplier but DOES NOT SHOW ON KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. So... all your suggestions are wrong. All of them. Multipliers on multipliers is the only useful advice from this video.

As a melee main who has all the cards: Breaker sees me and sweats. Tallboy variants see me and panic. Hocker/Stinger - spawn in and 0.025 seconds later they have me disabled and dead (or stun gun it off and the same hocker just disables you again before you can even move from the spot) - worst special design I've ever seen haha.

@@projectskald i believe you. game really doesn't punish toxic players or trolls. what's going to stop a player from shooting birds/snitches/doors or doing friendly fire damage in higher difficulties. im not a lfd player so im not sure how they dealt with it. playing with good players is a different story though, games are really fun when everyone's on the same page

From what I gather, what affects the damage number vs weakspot damage number can be inferred from the type of category and the phrasing. It seems that anything that just says "damage" or "damage with x" will always affect the basic damage number. I think the phrasing is key. "Damage with x" is referring to the base damage from that particular weapon type, the "with" being the important distinction. It's not referring to a different type of damage, just the standard damage coming from that weapon. However, the cards that affect weakspot damage are phrased like "melee damage" or "bullet damage". The descriptor coming before the word damage might be the indicator that it's a different type of damage and not that it is just the standard damage coming from a particular source. Here is how I understand this. First you divide the damage into "Generic damage" and "Weakspot damage". They are dealt separately. The Generic damage is calculated by taking the guns base damage and adding modifiers to it such as glass cannon. The weakspot damage also takes the guns base damage but does not apply the modifiers and then adds its own unique weakspot modifiers. What makes the silver bullet so different is that it is not a modifier that is applied after you separate the damage into the two types, instead the "bullet damage" directly changes the weapons base damage which both use when applying their respective modifiers. It is not necessarily anything to do with having their own categories as it has to do with the order in which it is calculated where bullet damage is applied before they are split up and handled separately.

Trauma resistance does stack with doc’s trauma resistance. When running those cards with doc I take almost no trauma damage while playing.

not absolutely sure, but I believe use speed and revive speed are additive for reviving a player. also, I was inspired to do some experimenting with other % cards, and ammo capacity is bonkers. It's sort of additive, but it doesn't just take the percentage and add it to your default max. It multiplies the % times 5, then it adds 3, then it is multiplied by a base number given by the ammo type. so for SMG (base# = 80), if you take 50% ammo capacity card, and take the 30% SMG ammo capacity card, you get: 960 = 80 * (5 * (1 + 0.5 + 0.3) + 3) I'm not sure if it's actually coded like this, but this gives the correct results. base number for snipers and shotguns is 20 and rifles are 55. also, you eluded to the "Character Card ability" for Walker being in a different category. Well, for Hoffman's card ability to give 10% extra ammo capacity, it's added to the equation above just like the other cards. no difference. All this to say that "categories" theory doesn't quite apply to the ammo capacity I think. I would like to know if it applied to health stuff, as you said.

I have tested the healing bonuses (doc's, EMT bag, and ointment), and they all are additive. I used a bandage with all these, which normally heals 1 segment, and it healed less than 2. 0.2+0.4+0.2=80%

I tested him weakspot +10% to team, this was additive to other weakspot cards. While his stacking up to 25% was weapon damage, multiplying with glass cannon, confident killer and patient hunter all being weapon dmg (bonus dmg uneffected)

I believe what’s happening is that the body and the weakspot are two different “hitboxes” and you’re simply hitting both at the same time on a weakspot thus leading to damage values not applying to both spots

That's fine but the issue is the cards working weirdly. Like Glass Cannon only multiplies your non-weakspot damage. But silver bullets multiplies both weakspot and non-weakspot. It's just weird.

While I was testing similar things myself, I noticed that Holly's +25 Team Stamina seemingly changed the amount of extra stamina you get from stacking stamina off certain cards. Seems like character team effects stack multiplicatively, and has me wondering if regular team effects also stack multiplicatively with normal cards, and whether "character team" and "regular team" effects stack multiplicatively off each other. Could give Mandatory PT some extra incentive in a coordinated group deck.

I experimented with something similar with Hoffman's team ammo capacity card, and it seems to me it is added the same as all the other cards, Team or otherwise. ammo capacity is, sort of, combined additively. it might depend on the individual mechanic targeted.

Willing to bet all damage types are self-compounding: Melee, Bullet, Accessory, Fire, etc. Also, REAL weakspot bonus damage multipliers from what I've found: Stingers/Hockers, 2x Tall Boiys, 1.5x Common Ridden: 1.1x No clue on the retch tree and allegedly the stalkers take more dmg.

This explains why I'm so OP when I'm using my shotgun build with my friends in Recruit, even though we're all new. I've got the cards that give: 1 that gives Shotgun +30% damage, +10% Bullet Damage, and +20% Weakspot damage. I'm sure that's nothing for cards at Nightmare, but I'm smashing through stuff with my friends.

Base Dmg & Weakspot Dmg are separate damage hits, that land at the same time when hitting a weakspot, and therefore calc independently from one another, with % increase cards. Bullet Cards increase both Base & Weakspot. Shotgun/Sniper % increase Cards are calc'd separate. Jim & Walker Dmg% calc'd separate. So to achieve max Gun Dmg, mix cards of Base Dmg%, Weakspot%, and other % categories, as opposed to just loading up on one. One exception is Melee. Melee% increase effects both Base Dmg with melee and weakspot Dmg with melee. Did I miss anything? I'm really curious as to how to Maximize my Explosive Damage with Frags.

I know this is very late but I have only just got into B4B. The way to think of this is the order the damage is in. Melee/bullet damage is before you swing/fire Damage/specific gun damage is applied when you hit the target Weakspot is applied when you hit the weakspot It is calculated in order like the following Base damage X bullet damage=damage Damage X damage multiplier=damage done Damage X weakspot multiplier=weakspot damage done Being calculated in that order is why bullet/melee damage affects weakspot but damage multiplier doesn't.

All this shows me is that the game needs a stats page as well as the "active cards" page. If we could see that your Bullet damage/ Weakspot damage/ General damage were different we could have figured this out... games a bit of a mess honestly I feel like they didnt really test this or the difficulty scaling at all. The whole weak point damage thing is like duh to me sorry xD. It comes from Crit damage in Rpg games. Crit damage only effects crit attacks but not base/white attacks. Usually crits are usually red/yellow attacks. Usually in rpgs you would increase your crit chance to about 30-40% and max out crit damage as high as you can. then run a tank build to max out survivability and damage output. Sometimes in rpgs you can use items to turn total health pool to max crit damage. So like in the game guild wars 2 you could do this. I became a Glass cannon tank thief. It was so broken. But whats crazy about this game is that they dont combine in this game but are completely different damage sets.

It seems this video is now outdated. Hits on weak spots no longer show 2 numbers. Instead, the damage is combined. All damage multipliers except for the weakspot one are effective no matter where you hit. Weakspot damage and damage multipliers now belong to the same category so they are additive to each other but the rest of the multipliers belong to their own categories so they are multiplicative to each other.

If weak spot damage only goes up with weak spot cards and certain damage cards but not all, that makes it weaker as a stat. Glass canon doesn’t effect weak spot damage. Weaker. Shredder and confident killer potentially doesn’t effect weak spot damage. Weaker. Armored weak spots on mutations prevents weak spot damage and even base damage bonuses. Weaker. The point of the video was to show you not to stack weak spot or gun damage but to make a wide variety of damage bonuses for multiplier values. Edit: someone else confirmed confident killer does not add to weak spot damage. Making weak spot weaker again.

when u hit normally it does X damage. when you hit a weak spot or get a headshot it does X damage + Y bonus damage. +% damage cards only increase X, while weakspot +% cards only increase Y there, i saved you the entire first 5 mins of the vid in 1 sentence edit: "bullet damage +%" increases both X and Y. there, saved you a few more minutes

Did some simple quick testing for anyone who stumbles across this video, glass cannon definetly increases weakspot damage now. Using a full damage build without glass cannon, my shots did 174 non weak, and 765 weakspot damage. With a fulll damage build and glass cannon my shots did 217 non weak and 880 weakspot damage. If this video were true then you wouldn't even want to take glass cannon on a weakspot sniper build so its important to know this info is outdated. Also tested sniper damage from sniper pouch, and everything i stated about glass cannon also applies to sniper damage. I cannot tell you which of these damage bonuses stack exponentially, and which ones stack additively. Sniper damage is definitly exponential. Increased my weakspot damage by an entire 70.

This is an extremely important thing in Warframe. I'm glad its getting showcased here in B4B because a lot of multiplicative builds can look a lot worse on paper, but out perform additive builds substantially.

Something you don't mention, but seems pretty important: at 19:35, it looks like your gun does 2 instances of weakspot damage (60.8 + 91.2) when you're hitting a weakspot when attacking the bruiser. Does glass cannon increase your damage at all when you shoot a weakspot like it does on commons? My bet is no.

It does only for the first hit. The weakspot counts as extra damage. (basically a 2nd hit)

I love that this video was so detaled. I don't think any other youtubers put that much emphasis on the details like u do. I really would love if u could make a detailed video about trauma damage, cause it seems that I get more trauma damage when use melee weapons with healing card builds.

it's no quite accurate to state they "multiplied" with each other before they got applied on your base damage, from a mathematical standpoint that is. the way it works is one of them applies before the other, so u apply 10% and then whatever number you get (which would be 41.8 assuming your base damage is 38) you also increase that by 10% meaning you multiply it by 1.10 (so 41.8*1.10 which gives us 45.98 which is roughly 46), so the percentage bonuses never multiply before they get applied again from a logical arithmetic perspective, they just have an order of application.

So what about cards that make the infected take increased damage. For example cards like shredder and Sunder. these cause the target to take more damage. does this also affect weak spot damage?

I want to guess it doesn't purely on the wording lol, so far any card that said increase damage be it glasss cannon's "+damage" or gun-specific one like "do +damage when using x gun", they both only affect base damage

Not sure if this applies to +Damage Resistance, though. I've had a total of +105% Damage Resistance before, in addition to the Scar Tissue card, and was still taking tons of damage, even on Recruit difficulty.

There is probably a base stat that the cleaner's have labelled "damage resistance", and the %damage resistance you're stacking increases that number as opposed to resisting 105% of the damage you take

@@kami3989 True. In that case, +100% Damage Resistance means that you'd just take half damage, which feels correct based on my experience. Dedicating the entire deck just to reach that value is definitely not worth it, and by extension, damage resistance cards as a whole are not worth it.

So instead of stacking cards of a damage type it's more effective to use one or two cards per category and stack categories? Are you going to be going through the cards individually or testing different things that aren't damage like you mentioned with character passives possibly being multiplicative?

definitely seems like a solid damage deck at this point would be hyper focused + silver bullets + large caliber rounds. i haven't personally tested it, but cards like shredder and marked for death are also interesting. if marked for death is its own "category" then that's another 1.1x multiplier for all your other damage on specials you spot. so 1.5x1.175x1.1, but we also don't know if marked for death damage applies to weakspots. swing also said that sniper damage from the sniper card does *not* affect weakspot damage. so it would be prudent to avoid gun specific damage cards as well. i tested tactical vest myself (10% AR damage) and that does not increase weakspot damage. with this knowledge in hand, i would run no-ADS decks for the most part, trading the bad, flat, damage cards for really efficient cards like motorcycle helmet. and mag coupler. while still taking the really good damage cards like hyper focused, silver bullets, large caliber rounds, and other relevant weakspot cards. also, different accessory damage cards should multiply too becaues "different categories". which means if you take improvised explosives with the +75% accessory damage card, your frag grenades would be dealing 2.0x1.75 damage. so 3.5x damage. one person with those two cards and some frag grenades would make the hag basically irrelevant.

tested it myself, patient hunter does not work vs weakspots. but i think the card might still be worth it in LMG decks since it will help immensely vs tallboys and reekers when hitting the weakspot isn't an option. also, good to know, but the -10% damage dealt on the +2 offensive/support accessory inventory cards does *NOT* affect damage dealt to weakspots. so those inventory cards are extremely good since you really aren't losing out on much damage.

@@bomjus1706 The -10% only applying to normal damage really makes those cards a lot better than they seem. I wouldn't say weapon damage cards are useless, like what you mentioned with patient hunter that some general damage could be beneficial so cards like Rolling Thunder are bad, but the +ammo and damage cards are alright still but more for the ammo than the damage. Definitely only take one of them max though, more than one only normal damage increase is bad. Silver bullets is basically the best gun damage card now (assuming you take a copper card like money grubbers to balance the cost)

Strong builds already exists and being used its just a matter of ordering them properly now. Before the general consensus was to stack the same damage type early, now its to get every damage category early before stacking the same ones.

So you have a base damage (bullet dmg) and then 2 separate modifiers. Body shot dmg is 1x bullet + dmg cards. Weakspot(crits) is 2x + weakspot cards. Both scaling off of the base damage. Thats pretty good information.

bullet damage is another global variable separate from the other 2: damage, and weakspot. it increases the damage of each bullet meaning anywhere you hit with a bullet (including penetrating rounds), it will increase damage

TL;DR Net damage on weak spot=> b(x+y) Net modifier compared to weak spot without cards=> 0.5(x+y) For anyone interested, I made some easy formulas for determining your net damage increase with cards. x is the net modifier for your general hit damage (e.g. 1.25 for glass canon). y is the net modifier for your weak spot hit damage. Net modifier for the total damage is simply: x+y (e.g. 1.25+1.15=2.40) Multiply this to your base weapon damage b to get your total damage b(x+y) (e.g. 60(2.40)=144). To get a how much damage damage your cards do compared to hitting a weak spot without cards, simply take half of x+y (e.g. 0.5(2.40)=1.20). I.e. you'd deal 20% more damage upon hitting weak spots with those 2 cards as opposed to without cards. Obviously to get x and y, add like categories together and multiply different ones (e.g. (1+(0.25[damage]+0.10[damage])•(1+0.15[bullet damage])=1.35•1.15=1.5525 x=1.5525 While (1+0.15[weak spot damage])•(1+0.15[bullet damage])=1.15•1.15=1.3225 y=1.3225 (x+y)=2.845 So net damage with a weak spot shot is 60(2.845)=121 And it's 0.5(2.845)=42.25% stronger than not having cards

I did notice with buckshot bruiser that It didn't feel like it was doing what it should until I was blasting Mutations when I would stack crazy Temp health numbers. When shooting hordes it didn't do it until I started stacking penetration and I was blasting hordes. that I was giving me good HP value

Bullet damage and melee damage add to both regular and weakspot. So the number you see is actually double. When a card says just damage, it doesn't apply to weakspot bonus in any way at all. So the tldr is that you put all the bullet damage back in the deck, and only keep the very best of the regular or weakspot damage cards. lol.

TLDR: Its more effective to stack damage boost to multiple different categories (eg weakspot damage, bullet damage, sniper damage, character damage (walker, Jim bonus) etc) than it is to stack boost for ONE category of damage (eg weakspot alone). So build your deck with the best cards from each damage category. To work out (or guess) which card is its own category, READ the cards. If the card says 10 percent damage increase to Assault Rifles, chances are that card is its own category of damage. Its ridiculous how the system works but that's how the devs apparently designed it.

9:17 I think a less confusing way of explaining this interaction is, rather than multiplying the cards with each other first then multiplying the base damage by 1.21, to just do one card then the other. 110% of 38 then 110% of 41.8... functionally it's exactly the same but that's how most people learned multiplicative vs additive so it won't sound as bizarre.

What happens is the multiplied base is multiplied , not necessarily 21 percent increase. You do 38x 1.1 and take that and multiply that by 1.1 again and you got the answer

I mean it kind of makes sense as to why bullet/melee damage count towards weak spot damage but gun/ed don't. I still don't think it makes sense to split up how the ed types interact with eachother but at the same time its kinda cool
