Hersheypark’s success won’t impact that of Cedar Point’s. Especially once they get this Dragster dilemma out of the way, I could see them adding a bunch of new projects of their own, which they already did this year with the boardwalk. I think you’re right that the business directions of these two parks will set up a good rivalry between them!

Wouldn’t this more so directly impact Dorney Park? Which is why Cedar Fair is starting to invest in that park for 2024 with the B&M Dive, which is something Hershey doesn’t have. They may have gotten too late of a start on it, as HP has truly grown at an insane rate. If not, whose to say CP doesn’t have the plans in motion to counter what HP is doing? I also don’t agree on the food aspect as CF has invested heavily in their food department.

tbh I don't think Hershey's insane growth is an entirely bad thing for Dorney. Cedar Fair is in a good position to use that park to tap into a population base that really likes amusement parks. All Dorney has to do to hold its own is make improvements similar to what parks like Kings Dominion have been doing(With the new area and new food offerings) and maintain a lower price. Hershey is going to keep increasing their price of admission as they grow. Dorney can benefit from that by staying cheaper while still offering a strong experience. We see Cedar Fair do this strategy with Knotts Berry Farm in the SOCAL market. That park arguably has harder competition, but its wildly successful. It's going to be hard, but I don't think its too late for Dorney yet. The next few years are going to show us a lot.

I never liked hershey when I visited. As someone from PA, I go over to Ohio for Cedar Point. Cedar point has better coasters and more coasters. Hershey is nowhere near to Cedar Point. They would have to add at least three elite coasters to possibly be considered on the same level.

Velocicoaster, Gwazi, Sea World building multiple coasters every year, whatever Dragster is going to become, Disney building new coasters, Universal building new parks and rides, Fun Spot doing crazy things, it’s awesome for us. I must be missing something. I admit I'm biased to CP as it's my home park. With that being said. Have you even been to CP? I haven't been to HP. My boss went last year and told me he thought I'd be wasting our time. The coasters look small and not very thrilling. What really makes this park stand out? I heard operations weren't great either. We've been to KD, KI, Carrowinds, and Dorney. Geauga Lake is my original home park and even that seemed better than HP. If I'm missing something. I'd like to know as my girlfriend loves chocolate and my son loves roller-coasters. We live in Ohio so it's a one tank trip, but I just didn't see the value.

I personally enjoy HP a lot more than most of the parks you mentioned. Especially in 2023 after Wildcat I think it's an awesome park. I think it's worth a visit for sure & I'd bet you'd be surprised at how much better it is than you're describing. But that's just my opinion.

Hershey Park has a lot of half ass coasters. They build them short in track length, short in height, and just above average in quality but not great. They have a lot of enthusiast fans because some feel Cedar Point is over hyped and Six Flags has various issues; but Cedar Point, a few Six Flags Parks, and the Busch parks all have better coaster lineups. It is not something Hershey can fix with just a few additions. When you go half-way with rides like Fahrenheit, Great Bear, Storm Runner, and Candymonium; the bulk of your lineup is just too weak. You have rides that are just less thrilling or too short everywhere. Cedar Point's coasters are all not the best anymore, but it is clear they did their best with many of the rides. They have probably 6 coasters that are all just much bigger projects than anything Hershey has considered.

Kings Island is a better overall experience in my opinion. From someone who visited both parks last year, the staff and atmosphere was better at KI. Less coaster downtime at KI, staff were outgoing and friendly. CP was good and has a better lineup, but staff looked like they dreaded their jobs. Most food places were closed etc

Ok, you guys must be talking about 'rides' and 'thrills' mostly, when it comes to Amusement Parks. Because as far as experiences (rides, food, shows) alone, Universal and Disney has that wrapped up. Once Epic is done, thats the end of the argument. BUT, if we're discussing amusement parks in a general rides, affordability, and access aspect, then yes, Hershey Park is about to knock it out of the..(clears throat) park, so to speak. Still though, Cedar Point is legendary with coaster and ride enthusiasts. I dont see them going to 2nd anytime soon. So we shall see. All this competition just means better times for us park enthusisasts, and the general public at large.

I think Hersheypark could really put the pressure on CP for sure. If one of those B&Ms is a Giga. And if they add a Giga, it would have to surpass Fury I feel. If not, you just have a big coaster. Cedar fair as a whole has Five, it would just blend in with the rest. If it surpasses Fury, then HP could really put a hurting on CP. However, CP won’t just give up its crown. And I think that’s where people are missing the point that a massive coaster war is on the verge of braking out!

I am not really sure they are in direct competition with each other. Cedar Point is really trying to position itself as a destination resort, offering things for the whole family, and reasons to stay 3,4,5 days. A ton of money has been focused on improving the hotels, dining, entertainment and appearance. All areas needed to make people want to stay longer. I go for the coasters, but definitely enjoy having a cold beer and walking the beach at the end of the night, or taking a cruise to one of the islands, etc. Hershey is an amazing park with a very solid coaster line up, but they struggle with crowds and how to disperse them throughout the day. Moving the water park could be huge, and expanding off chocolate town. They have a decent amount of room to expand, but still somewhat land locked. Kings Island on the other hand as a ton of room to work with, same with Dollywood. My favorite parks tend to be where I have the most fun from the time I get there till the time I leave. Wait times, crowds, how the park hands fast passes, food and drink options all play into this. Also I like having an escape to do something else for a bit and Zoo America, and the Beachfront both do this. So you are right they are both very good parks, but I am not sure either are my top favorites.

I love hersheypark but they are definitley not making efforts to "fix up the park", over the past decade they have significantly reduced focus on beautifying the park, a lot of theming has been taken out, most new food places added have only been chain resturarunt food, there are currently NO shows at all running other than their seal + sea lion show and their Christmas event has not seen a notable update in years and now looks shoddy in comparison to many other holiday events.

Cedar Point is more than just a theme park with rides. That’s what people who never been there don’t understand. It originally was a summer beach vacation spot on the lake. Hershey has some things outside the rides but nothing like Cedar Point can provide. Not saying it’s Walt Disney World or anything but for a weekend it’s the perfect family get away for many midwestern families.

Cedar Point is also probably the best views of any amusement park in the world, it not only attracts cause it’s an amazing park but has an amazing beach and hotel. Hersey improving will only help Cedar Point because it will increase competition. There’s pluses and minuses to be not in a chain, if Hersey has a bad year they lose completely if Cedar Point has a bad year they have other parks to draw from.

Imo Cedar Point is in my top ten but no where near the top and I do not consider it the #1 park in the country. For me they have 3 rollercoasters that are fun and re-rideable and the rest are either painful or boring. Their flat rides are decent though and the food is just okay. Personally I think Hershey is the much better park with more rides I’d hop back in line for, the food is better, and they have a good flat ride collection too. Hell tbh I had more fun with Great Adventures collection of rides then I do at Cedar Point.

I even prefer Knowbles and Kennywood over Hersheypark even though they are not equal in stats. I would tell others Hersheypark a cute little park based on chocolate with a collection of short, medium sized roller coasters. Avoid this place on busy days. Don't let the brand new shiny entrance fool you, It's an old, small park that has outgrown itself and is not designed for crowds it attracting. Don't expect Cedar Point, but if your into zoos, water parks and chocolate this park my be your thing.

@@KingEnthusiast I am surprised to learn just now that Hersheypark is 121 acres in size. I'll upgrade it to medium. A park has to be between 200 and 300 acres or larger to impress me with size. The maximum height of Hersheypark's larger coasters is merely 200 feet -- a barrier Cedar Point shattered all the way back in 1989. I get that it's your homepark and you have pride - and you totally should! I'd love to have you for a tour guide to show me all the magical things I most likely missed on my visit. But having been to Canada, most of the Midwest Parks, Up and down the coast of California and throughout Florida - Hersheypark was very middle of the road in every theme park, ride and coaster category except (arguably) food. I sure it's likely their chocolate is the best.

You forgot about the new dragster opening in 2024. Your prediction is so off😭 cedar point will always remain on top and even Kings Island doesn’t compete. Yes they have really good wooden coasters but Orion is not that good. Millennium is still better and cedar point has a way better line up of coasters than Hershey. I want what ur smoking🤣🤣

Not the best park in the country, I will say. Try the flipping world. Don’t clickbait me into this just to here about some hersheypark ride everyone knows is happening, cedar points legacy as the roller coaster capital of the world is not anywhere near rivaled by hersheypark, and sure, hersheys lineup is incredible, but bro, it’s cedar flipping point. Almost every ride there holds or has held a record and they are all renowned as one of the best in the world
