The oil NAVAC recommends is based off of longevity of the oil. The industrial oil is meant more to take a beating and keep going. Its designed with manufacturing processing in mind, not originally intended for HVAC but it works!

I have a whole toolbox full of ball valves in various sizes I've brazed flare fittings to. Get you a refrigerant sweat to sweat ball valve, drop a flare nut on and braze a pre flared then cut section of tubing on. It will hold vacuum and is rated for 600psi all it takes is a quick turn with an adjustable. I even have adapters made to go from say 3/4"JIC to 3/8 male flare. Works a treat and as you need them you can just add it to the collection when the job is done

I like that o-ring design upgrade. Its so annoying to either not be sure of my seal, or to get boned trying to remove a core when I forget to hook up refr before I pull. When 3cc of atmosphere goes in, but it sits on 650 microns for 10 minutes....
@coldfinger459sub02 жыл бұрын
On your leaking valve stems when you’re cranking them in or cranking them out , they don’t hold vacuum because of the packing put silicone grease or dielectric grease in the old days when my dad was young back in the 1960s they would put Vaseline or dielectric grease on that stem and this would stop all vacuum leaks. That NAVAC four-cylinder recovery machine I ordered it and purchased it before they even first release them and have them in stock yet. The NAVAC four-cylinder recovery machine is in a league of its own I found the same thing with the NAVAC core remover tools it’s nice not having that O-ring squash and hold your Schrader core making it difficult to remove like the other companies.

Great video! I don't work on chillers so this was very informative. I was surprised you didn't need to pull a triple evac to get that low of micron level for a large system. For that Danfos valve that failed. Would you be able to see it restricting a lot of flow with a thermal imager? Or can you measure it with temperature probes?

Bloody Nora mate , I've never had this low microns and I almost always do an overnight vaccum ! 2 things that blow my mind with the recovery / charging : How fast it's going How you can use 1/4" hoses whilst I use 3/8 and I still struggle By the way Holden can I ask : Do you pull a vac on your recovery machine ( i do but I wonder if it doesn't hurt it ) or do you just purge ? And also , do you not use hoses with ball valves ? Cause if you unhook everything to finish the charge after the push pull , then you're loosing the gas that's inside the recovery unit and the hoses ? Thank you very much mate , brilliant video by the way 👍

I noticed that you turned on your micron gauges after starting your vacuum. I was taught to turn them on before hand to let them calibrate to atmospheric pressure. What’s your thoughts on that?
@HVACTIME2 жыл бұрын
Instead of directly answering I will ask this. How do you turn them on to calibrate when they auto off during the vacuum?
@ryanbrown71342 жыл бұрын
@@HVACTIME I almost always install mine with a core removal tool so i can shut the ball valve when I take it off to calibrate. On the few instances where space doesn’t allow me to install a core removal tool, I have a short 1/4 inch hose with a ball valve on it.

Your vacuum time is only as good as the the ports you’re pulling from. 12cfm pump hooked up to 1/4” -3/8” ports. You’re going to let it pull overnight anyway. No such thing as a perfect vacuum.

Watching you not loosing and tighten the packing nut when working that liq valve made my HVAC soul hurt!!! LOL Just wait until we have to switch to the new freons which will require special vacuum pumps and recovery machines. And you will not be able to leave them running without being in front of them. Oh and one more thing...the new freons will be flammable (much more than R410) which will require massive amounts of nitrogen to blow out of the circuits before soldering can take place. Annndddd our vans will need to have sectioned off areas for the tanks and exhaust fans installed. Joy joy joy!!
@HVACRTECH-832 жыл бұрын
You're way off man, first, let's start by using proper terminology. It's called refrigerant not freon. If you're in the trade you should know the difference. Yes the next refrigerants being developed are going to be slightly flammable and will require some extra precaution and some different practices in general but your acetylene torch on your truck is more flammable than the new refrigerant will be. You don't need a special compartment and exhaust fan on your truck to store it. They will be classified as A2L refrigerants and are only mildly flammable in fact class 3 refrigerants which already exist are much more flammable and have been around forever. Propane is a refrigerant. Much more dangerous.
@Harry1s2 жыл бұрын
@@HVACRTECH-83 Easy smarty pants. I don't need an education on the difference between freon and refrigerant. OMG. Trying to be the smartest guy in the room much? That's your opinion about the compartment in the truck, exh fans, etc. I work for one of the largest HVAC companies in the world and that will be their policy. You will only be able to carry a certain amount in the truck (I think it is 30lbs) and it can not get but so hot. I can't remember the temp right. Companies will handle these new properties and regs differently.
