I feel like the biggest issue Activision could have had with H2M is that if it had been allowed to continue, Activision loses their get out of jail free card. They NEED MW2R as a failsafe in case they release an absolute stinker of a game again, they got lucky with Vanguard because warzone was still hugely popular, but since WZ2.0's complete failure and WZ3's inability to recover losses, the next misstep could spell disaster for the franchise without an ace like MW2R up Activision's sleeve. With that being said, that ace does have an expiry date to an extent. Like you said, MWR is nearly a decade old at this point, meaning the existing MW2R build is likely about the same age, give a year or so. While I absolutely wouldn't be opposed to it, bc the MWR engine feels incredible, there's no way they could put out a 10+ year old build of a remastered title and get away with it, atp you could justify an MW2R Remaster, seeing as MWR was released only 9 years after COD4. That'd be an insane timeline. Ideally, we need MW2R to be rebuilt on the IW9< engine for its existence to be fully justified, and given that devs are already under enough crunch to put out the annual releases, logistically I don't see that happening. As much as it sucks to say, I think with the H2M cease and desist, the MW2R MP dream is dead. Hence why I say, Fuck Activision.

Launcher is in development. Including new guns, maps, etc. We still need to create push back and make activison rethink ever doing something like this again. I want SM2 to be finished and I want everyone else to be able to enjoy that beautiful mod. After trying sm2 for myself, I have to say that it could be the best cod we have ever had. Even so, who knows what the future holds and how many other mods are going to be created, but only to be C&D by activision.... We need to put a stop to this and keep fighting the good fight. Once they see a drop in sales revenue and see their player base population drop, trust me they will think twice about ever doing something like this again. I have been a part of many communities over the years and have made many companies before APOLOGIZE AND WALK BACK their brain dead decisions. We can do it right now if we all fight together. Also, about the "being forced out to the menu after every game is over" that is not how it is for everyone! There are many that downloaded the "H2M Download and play torrent" and if you download that torrent, for one it has all of the updates, early server browser file, all maps campaign & DLC, game files & mod all in one. So, when you download this you don't have to do anything but click h2m.exe to play the mod. This is the easiest way to get on and play without having to buy the game or download the mod and updates. But I noticed that I don't get kicked out of games each time after the match ends, instead the next map loads and I am in the same server. I wish I knew specifically what files it was that does this, but I don't. So, if you want to fix this issue, Download the "H2M Download and play" torrent. I have the file if you can't find it. Activision wasn’t in the wrong though. The mod used ripped assets from the mw2 campaign remaster, but only requires you to own MWR. That is text book IP theft and highly illegal. This could have been easily solved by the devs by forcing you to own BOTH games and releasing a tool that rips and compiles the assets from your pc when you have both games downloaded. Not only that, they used stolen assets and advertised it like crazy. They should have not chased clout and just shadow dropped it

They have a master file with the game/mod on a Google drive I used. All I had to do was download the new exe from the group that took over to fix the server browser. I was playing pretty quick after I had it downloaded.

I think this all goes to show there is a big demand for a more classic Call of duty style game. Maybe 1 day we can get something similar without a lot of the modern algorithms and "player retention" things that a lot of companies feel the need to put into them. I enjoyed xDefiant but the complete lack of QoL updates and urgency of getting some things fixed like hit reg pretty much has me stop playing. Mine doesn't always boot me out of every game at the end of the game. About half the time it keeps me in the server which I'm kind okay with getting booted here and there so I can change up my class or whatever since you can't quit out at the end of the game or during map voting.

Seeing the franchise i grew up with slowly die is something crazy. After AW 2014 i truly felt the company go downwards. The mod tools for WAW and Bo3 truly felt like a connection for the community. Being able to play custom zombies and MP maps was such a great experience! The shut down of SM2 was genuinely heartbreaking. what confuses me the most is that all of Microsofts other studios legal teams never really go after modding, I mean we had the SAME EXACT situation with fallout earlier this year, Fallout London is an entire new Fallout game built on top of Fallout 4, by the community not Bethesda, Halo infinite has a forge system that allows for custom scripting and creating custom models that use existing game textures, and I don't think I need to talk about Minecraft very much since its literally the most modded game ever so why is Activision so different? I get that its still relatively early days with Microsoft buying them, but even then Microsoft still could have vetoed that cease and desist, it feels like Microsoft really dropped the ball here, they could have gained SO MUCH good PR if they said "Hey yea, you know that cease and desist yall got? ignore it, were in charge now and we say its ok"

on the topic of "what ifs" a what if I've been thinking about since MWR in 2016 is that since its obvious the forcing of yearly games IS harming new COD games what if we only got a new game every other year and in-between the new games was a remaster, starting with WaW since we already have MWR, so the the past 4 years could have looked like MW2019 -> WaWR -> BOCW -> MW2R -> vanguard -> BO1R, and going forward -> MW2022 (which in this case would actually be 2025) -> MW3R -> MW2023 (2026 in this what if) -> BO2R -> BO6 one can only wish that this would happen

Does anyone know how to fix the gpu error from the H2M launcher? My friend got it and is having issues. He tried starting his pc in safe mode but nothing is working. He has the legit files but can’t get it to launch. He turned off shaders in the campaign/mp but still has the issue.

You do occasionally get kicked after a match on H2M. I think it’s because a handful of maps (the campaign remasters) don’t work so it will either kick you or crash the game - or in my case if I don’t have the cod 4 dlc maps it will also kick you. But I’m not too bothered because in Aus we have about 6 servers available and they’re all 18/18 players all the time so it gives you a chance to actually get into a lobby.

To me, H2M is the death nail for any future legacy COD mods / clients. Even when the developers tried to play nice and did everything to not step on Activision's toes, they still got hit with the ban hammer. With the DMCA of H2M, it's Activision basically forbidding any large scale mods for the legacy COD titles (Outside of BO3). Jokes on them though, because now H2M is freely available to anybody, you don't even need to buy MWR to play, and Steam's generous refund policy allowed almost everybody who bought in anticipation for H2M to get their money back. We gave Activision the chance for an easy pay day, and now they get nothing.

Or remaster all old games, Cod1-Bo4. Put them all on one client/launcher. None of them are playable unless you pay a subscription for the individual ones you want access to. Something like that. I think the cod fans needs to get this through their heads. mw2 remastered mp will never happen everyone's got a better chance at winning the lottery than mw2 mp remastered coming out

It's been a few years since I'd played MW2 but man H2M getting a massive amount of players has done the game no favours. The way people play games now has completely ruined the game. People have a much better natural feel for the pacing of games in relation to TTK and map design so people are just perma angle holding. It's actually miserable. I cannot possibly imagine how awful MW2 would play with modern SBMM on top of that. This game is still fun to snipe on but MAN has this game truly aged like milk gameplay wise in every other respect. I really wish I could just go back to being a kid and play these games against people that didn't meta game and angle hold to this degree. Or maybe I was just too young/bad to even notice or care and it's all just rose tinted glasses. H2M has completely ruined my want for a proper multiplayer remaster. Modern gamers will RUIN this game if it ever comes out. I know it's kinda selfish but I hope the population drops significantly so these people leave and maybe then I can enjoy it again. I don't know. I'm just sad. My fantasies of this game have been completely shattered to pieces.
