I don't know if anyone else has said it, but thanks, Gina, Al, Olivia, and of course Figaro, for making your homestead and your channel a calm, safe place for us all to escape to in these troubled times. I've been starting my mornings with your videos for a few months now, and they're one of the things that's keeping me sane. Well, that and knitting my new scarf. As we say out here in Minnesota year round: knit faster, winter's coming!

There is a winch in the front - but one in back would be a good idea as well. I like Andrew Camarata's idea (?) of a winch on a removable hitch pin - that way one could mount a winch on any machine that has a hitch mount.

I’d get the tracks fitted as soon as possible, as the moment you need them, they’ll be in a box. In Germany we say end of October to Easter is Winter, so it’s snow tyres. You can test them out and get used to them as well. It’s a good idea and will prove to be a good investment

My answer to your question, "When should I install the tracks on the Mule". It depends on the expected weather. The tracks will wear more on gravel than snow. As you know, you will have plenty of snow soon enough. Install the tracks within a week or two. You may need some time to get used to how they handle. I'll be watching. By the way, you and the fam are getting to be seasoned pros in front and behind the camera. Great work!

The first thing you will need is a very large dump trailer that can hold the mule and other items you need to transport to new property and back. A dump trailer is more versatile and easier to unload for your wife. Hopefully you can get one wide enough to hold with mule on it. Make sure you can still get mule out of garage once lift kit and tracks are on. Hopefully you have been able to test drive a mule with tracks on. Hopefully you have power steering on mule you will need it.

The other thought with the outsider fyi was his sawmill & making his own rough cut to build his cabin. Plus the quick cabin to have shelter for winter logging. Suggest a winter emergency kit for the SXS & truck just in case. & planning where to put the meat pole located centrally like a firewood 'depot' We are the morgans have a huge firewood setup (another fyi). with the tracks hanging out further at the back of the side by side are you going to have to extend the toe bar so the tracts don't hit the trailer? A lot of the big farmers have tractors and trailers with tracks on them as they do less compacting to the land than standard tires and don't get as stuck as readerly when it gets wet and of course there favourate don't go flat but when they come off they take some putting back on but there are some trick to getting that done - check to see if they have a crease point on them as most do and need up keep - just put them on and enjoy them

Oh Al, the look in your eyes reminded me of a little kid on Christmas morning. Can't wait to see them in action on the mule!

I’m hoping you have better results with your tracks than we did. Ours are now on a pallet in the back of the barn. They made the sxs slow, noisy and hard to maneuver. And there was a really narrow band of conditions where the tracks would go well. That said, your tracks are newer and from a different manufacturer, so I’m hoping you have better results.

Al , with everything going on now , I wouldn't waste time waiting installing the new tracks, just in case you need something to install them that needs to be ordered. Also looks like you need wipers on the mule

i am a bit concerned about the height of the mule once you put the tracks in. it looked like it cleared the entrance to the shop by just a few inches as it is. i am worried it will be too tall to get it out once the tracks are on.

I plan to put the tracks on next week only because I don't have a heated garage to put the on later. Love my tracks though. I didn't have a lift kit when I purchased mine they just set the shocks on my Polaris to full extension. Love the new land. Awesome.

You scared me, man. the lawn tractor did a wiggle. Wouldn't lowering the weighted bin on the back give more stability for stuff like that? As the counter-weight would be lower and better distributed?

If you will be hauling a trailer behind the mule, you may need an extension for the receiver and remember if it is three feet long extension it then makes the tongue weight three times what it is, so be careful with weights. Without an extension you may not want to back up a trailer as the tracks will contact real soon and even going forward you can’t make a sharp turn or again the tracks will hit the tongue of the trailer. Sorry for the back news just don’t want to hear of anyone getting hurt while enjoying you homesteads. Stay blessed

A full enclosure kit and heating will make the process all that more comfortable, but a winch instantly came to mind too. Looks well made, it should make life easier.

Ugh, mud. That's a good reminder to properly rinse those tracks off with water spray every time after using in muddy terrain.
