The name Lumnah Acres is still a perfect name for the new property. If you are going to build a rental cabin somewhere, I would name that section Lumnah Retreat or Lumnah Refuge. Maybe Olivia could give names to some areas like the pond or a meadow or certain wooded areas or different roads you will make over time, depending on your plans for the property. So much happening in your future! Smart man.

With it being so cold there, what about putting a small heater in the outhouse? I think you could get completly warmed up in there. A small table and chair for Olivia to home school or to eat lunch. I think that would be perfectly alright for that since you will have a composting toilet. If you put up shelves you could curtain around the toilet. You could even have a dry sink. Probably need rat traps. LOL I love watching you first thing in the morning. Never a dull moment. I was thinking this morning that Gina has so much to do and still she helps with all the builds. Lumnah Acres is such a good name and you & Gina have built it into a brand, you don't want to dilute it or confuse potential followers. Perhaps name the new property Lumnah Acres North-East-South-West ( whichever direction it is from LA). Later if/when you sell LA the new buyers will change the name to make it theirs, so then the new property becomes Lumnah Acres. David Chamberlain, down thread suggested The Annex...that's really good too, and will dovetail nicely into LA later. Good morning from East Morton on the edge of Ilkeley Moor in Yorkshire Dales, England. Over here a property that size on the moors would be known as an estate. This is going to probably sound a little too obvious and on the nose but considering all the effort you've put into your Branding Al I have to say the correct choice for the new land name is "LUMNAH ACREAGE." An "acreage" is defined as "an area of land, typically when used for agricultural purposes." It can mean one acre but it almost always means a large farm. And it sounds distinct from acres even though it somewhat means the same thing though acres lacks that " traditionally for farm use" understanding since it is more predominantly used as a unit of measurement. Like when you announced you bought the land you said "we bought over 500 acres" even though saying "we bought an (X square meter of X square mile) acreage" would have been just as accurate. And lastly we would all know what you meant any time you said "we need to head up to the acreage to work on the outhouse" as you usually refer to where you currently live as "the homestead." And when you're anywhere else and say "gotta get back to Lumnah Acres" or "gotta get back to the homestead" we would still know what you meant. Personally I think with all your work to create the brand Lumnah Acres you should just call the new property "the acreage" until you build a house and move into it and sell your current homestead because at that point you would no longer need to make a distinction between the two and you could easily just refer to the new property as "the homestead" and continue building the Lumnah Acres brand the entire time with no transition. Building a brand is hard and Lumnah Acres is a good and recognizable one. And I can't imagine you changing the channel name. So I'd stick with it and just give the new property the nickname of the acreage. Cheers!

500 acres for agriculture is not that much, especially when some is not usable and large parts are kept in forest, you can be self sufficient off far less but if you want it to be actual job where you make money then you need a LOT of land, I know I grew up in agriculture on 2500 owned acres and another 2500 or so leased.

How about LumnahLand? (Your own Homesteaders version of DIsneyLand: Homesteaders fun for everyone!). You should have some names for different sections of the property as well as roads/trails so that the family/friends will know where you are - 500 acres is a LOT of space to get lost in. Your Outhouse area can be Poo Corners, or the Honey Pot Spot. You can have Tanner's Trail, No Beaver's Brook, Gina's Grove, 'Livia's Landing, Figaro's forest. References for the areas you use most, or have specific purpose for.

"Castor creek" it's catchy

You can "end" screw all those blocks if you start the screw right next to the prior block and angle the screw towards the middle of the block you are installing. Or, stager/offset the block the thickness of the wood. Yum !!! That lasagne looked "Scrumptious" !!!

If the water flowing pressure is good in dam could produce hydro power.

i understood once that bevers plug a river because they want raise the water level to have entrance of their home below the water level.. so raising the water level might help them from plugging the culvert..

In British English, a bog is both a swampy area, and a slang term for toilet, so perhaps Lumnah's Bog may suit! Or OutHouse in the OutBack! :-)

I still think moving the " Bus stop " to the property would make a lot of sense.
@StoneKathryn4 жыл бұрын
That is a really nifty idea. The goats could come and have the goat stop to hang around with even. The acreage could be called the goat stop.

Al: A blue sky thought from the old guy. To the side of the fire pit a 'U' shape shelter open to the fire. 6- 6'x6' fence panels ( 2x4 frame and boards ). 2-8' 4x4's one between the legs of the 'U' panels to support a 12' 4x4 for the ridge of a tarp roof. A 12' 2x6 beam across the top of the open end of the 'U' shelter. 2- 12' 1x2's to be screwed to the 2x6 beam and the top of the 2- 6x6 rear panels. The tarp roof could be 6 mil plastic on tight sash cord rafters 1' OC. 1x4 sub facia could support the gable end of the plastic roof secured with 1x2 strips screwed to the 1x4's. The plastic roof would have a 4/12 pitch or with 10' posts an 8/12 pitch for snow load. All components can be repurposed as animal shelters, mini greenhouse, screening, fencing etc. or broken down and the materials reused. the old guy Bert
