The only thing I really don't like is the homogenized loadouts. Make each character completely unique and I'm down for the game. Like, make brute characters like King Shark the only ones capable of carrying the minigun, or make Boomer only able to wield handguns, but his boomerangs make up for his lack of arsenal, etc.

the DLC won't save the game tbf, the Combat is what underwhelmed people, we need a better showcase, to see what makes the heroes different outside of the guns, Takedowns, and traversal. there were glimpses of specials and maybe some Light Melee. For example, I will play Deadshot! but what will make his combat more Deadshot aha I saw some cool Missile attacks. maybe they should do a 'Deep-Dive' best thing Avengers had going for it until they dropped war-tables altogether haha Also reverse Flash with an AK-47 is exactly why we need a better showcase, it will severely limit the DLC characters. I reckon Bloodsport should at least have a single gun that transforms depending on your Equipped weapon.

Casting a wide net for the biggest audience for your game is bound to not satisfy everyone. I think the mechanics on display is a poor use of the property. The suicide squad are just glorified skins since their traversal abilities and attacks don’t actually relate to the characters in a meaningful way. Why be excited about DLC characters if they aren’t actually representative of their comic counterparts?

@@SadotTheGamer I don’t remember Boomerang getting super speed or King Shark trained to use machine guns in any other property. They’re distinct form one another but the abilities themselves aren’t really flavorful to the characters themselves. Looter shooter mechanics demand homogeny amongst the characters so all of them can grind for the same sorta weapons. But that also means the characters can’t really exemplify their canonical abilities. Reverse Flash sounds fun, but if he’s running around with dual uzis is it really a comic book character come to life?

@@alseenei8072 Captain Boomerang's son famously has access to the speed force in the comics. As a nod to that, the game gives him access to the speed force via gauntlets he steals in the game that he combines with his boomerangs. The King Shark using a gun is obvious concession they made for the genre, but that cherry pick ignores the fact that he's a super strong brute that bites people in half just like in all of his appearances. Harley Quinn doing cartwheels and cracking somebody with a bat (again directly shown the at the state of play), is classic Harley. You can be annoyed by the shared gunplay without pretending that every character otherwise isn't completely unique from each other in ability and movement.

Distinctions aside, ultimately we want to feel like the characters we are playing. Captn boomerang getting speed force is a requirement for the mechanics, I think that’s a mandatory decision. The real question is if his entire MO, throwing boomerangs, is integral to his gameplan or just a supplement to the gunplay? The State of Play depicted a team whose individual characters can succeed equally. Their traversal mechanics are unique on a technical sense but they don’t compliment each other, just achieve the same thing equally. It’s a shame that a looter shooter pretty much requires every character to be equally good in all situations rather than require real teamwork that accentuates each character’s differences.

I agree about the always online but keep the optional battlepass. They have to make money somehow with the free DLCs and heroes releasing. You don't have to buy a skin battlepass. You can get everything you need out of the game without it.

I think this game is just a normal looter shooter type. Like fortnite. Except you'll have different DC character skins. Who maybe using some of their character skills or traits but mainly they'll use only guns and melee. They are not giving us a game where each character has a speciality.

How do you know about the speciality? They release the first snippet of gameplay and everybody thinks they know everything about it. Why not wait until closer to launch to make assumptions about characters not having specialties. I think they should have shown some special moves that make the characters unique. Instead they focused on the high speed traversal and shooting. They were catering to players from popular live service games such as GTA, Fortnite, Warframe, CoD, etc. Can't blame them considering the amount of money those franchises make. It is a business after all.

I swear a bunch of people have a right to be turned off by live service battle pass games. I also think that people are turned off more because characters like captain boomerang are using jetpacks and a shotguns. I need to see actual mechanics, best thing they can do is put out a playable demo or a play test because there will be no other way to recover the game after everyone seeing the footage. Also the suicide squad was cool cause it was underdeveloped in media and people hadn't really had access to it outside of the comics. Now every couples years there is a new suicide squad piece that is either a reboot or new versions of the characters that aren't really that different.

Boomerang is literally using his boomerangs to tap into the speed force. You don't know if he uses the boomerangs in other instances as well. Maybe they could have showed that or maybe they are saving it for future sneak peeks. A demo is definitely a good idea though. Also, I appreciate the new take on this and not just the same ole superhero experience. If you want that, go play the old Arkham games more.

Actually DLCs were an extra small feature added to the pipeline to generate additional revenue off of a single entry. Gaming isn't going to go backwards. If you don't like what you see that's fine. I love Cutscene of War. GOTY. And no, this being live service makes the people who already were interested, more interested. The people hating on the game for being live service were mostly the same people hating on the game for it not being another solo Batman game or a Justice League game.
