Hey guys! 😊 Having a good way to look up words and get clear definitions is key to learning Arabic, especially with the whole root system. I think it’s something a lot of people don’t place enough importance on, and it can be tough for beginners. I’ve shared some of my top resources - hopefully you find it useful :) Let me know what you think or what tools you use!

thank you for focusing on this topic and sharing this amazing video. I have been struggling a lot in arabic even when it is my first language, probably due to weak academic focus on the language in school. I used to translate words in google translate when I was reading arabic books but it had multiple issues, I will give your suggested sources a try and hopefully it eases my pain in the arabic comprehension.

asalamulikum. i am studying arabic first time in my life and it is looks easy but with so many rules and patterns it is not. in our first year our teachers told us about the etjaal website and hans wehr. i was like: 'what is this alien book with that looks like english but isn't'. 😂 but my knowledge grew and that dictionary is my favourite now. got the physical copy of it too (old school, don't like much online typing). it is not user friendly or for beginner but if you know how to use it, it is quite comprehensive, with all patterns and forms translations mentioned. for Quranic arabic, i find it is the best. they even have an app now for it. JazakAllah Khair for making this video. the oxford dictionary sounds like dream. i also looked into the last one you mentioned. the Quran word by word meaning. that is an interesting concept as no one has done the tarkeebs of Quran verses before. so i think this is a big help. may Allah SWT give you baraka in your knowledge and reward you for your efforts. Ameen

How do you deal with the ads? The app is annoying now.
@adamshaikh2728
@adamshaikh2728 Ай бұрын
@@daisy_magnoliago to the settings of the app and disable WiFi usage and data usage then clear the CACHE not storage, it should be under 10 mb not 400 mb. This will still make ads pop up but they're blank and you can press the x button to close it immediately. You must keep WiFi and Data usage disabled otherwise the ads will come up

Great Video! I just wanted to add a 2 more that are really helping me learn the language. So the first one would be ‘Reverso’, this is especially good if you’re focusing on learning new verbs because it has a conjugation option which directly gives you the ماضي و مضارع و أمر. If you scroll to the bottom they will give you the مصدر and some more forms of the verb. The second would actually be the Oxford dictionary, but not the app or website rather if you go to the home tab on your I-Phone (must be apple) and used the search feature and just inserted the verb or word, it gives you the meaning and more and for all this you don’t need WiFi to use this option. For Reverso you do. Try giving it a try!

Appreciate it 😁 and nice additions! This iPhone trick is really good actually - seems like you gotta go to settings and turn on Oxford Arabic dictionary first to make it work, now it works for me too :) for that type of offline thing I've always just used the Google translate offline feature but this is cool too 💪

When I taught myself English that dictionary was my go-to. I used to read English books and I’d look up almost every word and write it in my book’s margin. Then they invented the electronic dictionary, I left the Mawrid and never looked back.

Hahah yeah there is definitely something about having a physical copy that is cool, but same here I look up everything online these days. There was a period before everything went online that they also had this electronic handheld dictionary with a screen lol, but think that's completely obsolete now 😂

There's a way to use the Oxford dictionary without paying. You need to have a library card for your local library and IF your library is subscribed then you get access otherwise you can submit a request form to your library to subscribe.

Thank you very much for these recommendations! I have also used Wiktionary for quite some time and I think it’s a valuable resource that has a ton of Arabic translations, however the definitions might not be that detailed as other dictionaries.

Great videos. I realize this is an Arabic channel, but I heard in the intro you studied Persian and other languages. It’d be great to hear more of your language studies in general, including Persian, which I’m also studying.

Thanks man, really appreciate it 😀 Awesome you're studying Persian! Iran was an amazing time for me on my year abroad, really friendly and nice people there too. For sure yeah I can definitely cover more of that stuff. A more personal video about my experience learning languages and which languages I studied do you mean? Or what you thinking?

As a student of arabic, I personnaly use chatgpt a lot. With the update of gpt4o, he never does any mistakes and you can actually ask him questions like you would ask a professor and he undersatnds what you mean. Let's take the exemple taken in the video of "kataba" or "koutoubou", he can understand the context and explain you.

I was looking for a dictionary with not just a translation of the word but that offers the examples, root, and pronunciation. I found oxford dictionary and aubscribed for a year, but so far I found it a bit too simple. I expected the words that I look up would show also its root and word formation and etc. Also, I wanted pronunciation of plural form of nouns. And it does not offer in this dictionary, but sometimes when I click a sound button next ti an example sentence it pronounces the pl form of the noun. So, still can’t get it how to manage to get pronunciations of plurals.
