We got about 1/2 an inch of snow that did not melt right away. The city had no snowplows or salt for the roads, and people were having car accidents all over the place, because native Kentuckians did not know how to drive in snow! Luckily, my parents had moved there from Michigan when I was 2yo, so it was nothing to them. Wow... memories. How our Earth has changed. ❤🌎

So in SE Kansas, the far-out forecasts for Sunday night were initially showing a 2-6 inch snow storm. Of course they were 3+ days out and so they were very tentative. By the time Friday and Saturday came around, the Sunday night forecasts completely shifted and even almost completely lost all chances of precipitation and they had all switched to all rain at a 20-30% chance. Then by Sunday afternoon the rain chances began creeping back up to near 50% overnight. But snow was still taken out of the equation. So after watching the Superbowl and going to bed, I wasn't expecting to see any snow on the ground. Especially considering we weren't even in a winter storm WATCH, let alone a warning. Then I woke up and saw nothing but white. 3 inches of extremely heavy slush - so heavy that it probably translated to almost half an inch of rain. This practically doubled the snow amounts we've gotten this winter where I live in just one single unexpected slight forecast error. Amazing how it works. Anyway... keep that in mind when looking at forecasted snow amounts and storm tracks. I stopped checking the forecasts by Sunday afternoon so I guess it's possible the last minute forecast updates may have more accurately predicted the coming snow ... but I doubt it because I never received any notifications about any watches or warnings for my county. 1 county South (30 mi) was a watch, and 2 counties South (60 mi) was a warning. So I'm thinking the storm track either shifted 20-30 miles north at the last minute, or it just pulled in more moisture and/or colder air to extend the snow cover that much further North. Something to keep in mind for the folks in the Ohio River valley and the Northeast: this storm system has a history of expanding or traveling further North than forecasted. If you made it this far, you're a real weather fanatic. Congratulations!

You are correct again. The flakes in Middle Tennessee are the size of quarters. The local weather said we might see a few flakes.

I just stepped outside and was so confused and came straight here because I missed the fact it was supposed to happen

Well, this storm sure surprised us in West Virginia. The creek is about to burst its banks, flood warnings came out all over the place during the night, and our basement flooded. Inch and a half of rain fell; they only predicted a 10th of an inch! I watched the wildlife yesterday, though, and I knew we were in for something.

Syracuse NY has dodge the snow the past few years. We normally get 140” and only have had 19”. Looks like we will miss this system too. 😢

Once again Ryan Hall is correct! It’s been raining since yesterday and it’s still raining in South Carolina! Coming up to about 4”.❤

Emptied my 11 ft ingrown pool day before storms here in GA and now almost full too bad that we are repainting pool or would save us a ton on refilling it. Maybe we can get lucky and will fill again when ready. We have lots of flooding around here and poor cows in patures tried to survive water but doesn't look good but hopefully made it somehow .

I regularly watch from Scotland, UK as frequently we get your weather around 7-10 days later. People have accused me of being a witch as I forecast stuff long before our own Met office. Nope, I listen to the weather wizard, Ryan Hall, y’all,

I'll be out there in Rockland county NY pushing snow tonight! I hope we get a lot of snow.
