She's one of the most kind, loving and talented musicians I've ever met. She was teaching my daughter slide during the pandemic, all while performing to help raise money for local Chicago musicians. Shes a great Mom, and just a very cool human being. We were lucky to have her in Chicago for as many years as we did. She's now an Island girl, happy and livin the dream.

After that she was one of the first musicians I went to see every time I was in Chi-town. Joanna & her band are a class act of kick-azz musicians who are cool as they come. Good people in my book. Sebs people make decisions based on appearance and face it she doesn't present well. But those that make determinations based on talent then she kicks the doors down and kills all of us with her playing. I would have loved seeing her whole set. Just so you know Sebs... That reaction you had when the guy stepped in front of the camera is the same reaction I make when you stop the song and comment. I really like this format where you just let the video keep playing and you "react" and comment over the music. I also get it that some songs you need to interrupt to get it out without the YT police canceling you. I really like your channel, Dude. Keep up the good work and cool content.

Please do not take this badly, but I am so curious. If you want to hear the song without pauses then why not just listen to the song sans reactor? I mean, a big part of being part of a reactor community is the discussion around the song/artist/lyrics etc. If you don't want that, why do you watch reactions? I am genuinely curious as many people say the same as you when reactors pause and discuss. I myself do not understand.
@OneLiterPeter
@OneLiterPeter 6 ай бұрын
@@TheeAmethystEmpress6589 Obviously, I can only express my own experience, everyone's mileage varies. I think for me it's really just a pet peeve of mine but so many times, I watch a reaction video and the song is stopped and the reactor tries to convey what they feel the song is about... and 90% of the time they're wrong and if they'd only listened for 15 seconds longer... Anyway... I find myself getting frustrated, I come back and try again... sometimes the format changes, like today which I really enjoyed, and sometimes... I tune out. I guess that's my only gripe really. No disrespect meant or taken.
@TheeAmethystEmpress6589
@TheeAmethystEmpress6589 6 ай бұрын
@OneLiterPeter Thank for responding in kind. I understand what you are saying as I also find myself going " Ahh! Don't pause tjere!" However, I know that I have already heard the song and they don't yet know they just paused and interjected in a less than ideal spot. Therefore, it doesn't bother me, it makes me look forward to the discussion on video and in the comments. I guess I just don't understand why one would bother watching a reactor, knowing this was gonna happen and then critique the reactor for their reaction. Anyway, thanks for answering me 😊
@OneLiterPeter
@OneLiterPeter 6 ай бұрын
@@TheeAmethystEmpress6589 You're welcome. I agree with what you say apart from critiquing their reaction... I don't think I am per se. There's the reaction, Wow, OMG, gasp, etc and there is commentary. I say react all you want, save the comments for the end. It's what I prefer and possibly what some others would also prefer. That's all.

Taj Farrant started at 7 and he just turned 15. Taj is incredibly gifted. They're doing a 40th anniversary tribute to Prince and Purple Rain in a couple of weeks in Minneapolis. Taj was picked as the feature guest artist. He will be opening for the Prince's NPG band and Morris Hayes at Paisley Park. Taj performs Purple Rain as the closing song at his shows. He has had Morris Hayes;the musical director and keyboard player of NPG; play onstage with him a few times. I sent a request during a live for you to watch him playing Parisienne Walkways at The City Winery in Nashville. Taj will have his first album come out in August. He's released 5 original songs Crossroads, Cruz, Bad Trip, House Always Wins and 2x2. He has done this in the past year. The first 4 went to #1 on the iTunes worldwide blues charts. 2x2 went to #1 in Australia and #2 in the US. Taj is a lead guitar player who sings, too.

There are and always have been so many incredibly talented musicians out there who have not achieved the highest levels of attention for a variety of reasons. With women, especially, they have to have a certain "marketable" look (which was why I loved Janis Joplin and why much later I was thrilled to watch Brittany Howard perform with Alabama Shakes, and Miss Bonnie Raitt kept plugging away at college venues for well over a decade before she got her huge break.) All that said, I love KZbin reactions like this that take a back-yard jam like this and give it a wider audience. Thank you! Support your local musicians!

Now YT is going to the extremes. Was one of the very first matchers of the original video. Last half year I've been rebuilding my house. Then found my old blues records from a time as a poor young man during late 80ies dusted off my old Hifi system, got it installed in a really wife-friendly way in the 4x10 meter living room (laid lengthwise in 3 x 120mm TV white matt neutral IKEA cushions), my old Rotel control- and power amplifiers, and so on. And then the man in the cave here was alone @ home...muuahahaha, completely ready to fire up on my old records. But then I changed my mind - I plug the analogue/digital converter into my smartTV...because I just wanted to listen to this excellent tune from Joanna Connor once again, more than a decade later. ....and then ...before I even clicked into the search field, YT suggests me this video!! I remember that I really enjoyed it then, but that the video has got 12 million views. views?? I'm a happy caveman. Knowing that the blues are still good makes my day. Also this reaction, never been on this channel before, but hereby subbed. Greets from Denmark

First I heard of her was many years ago. I did album reviews as part of my job as a journalist and one of her CDs was sent to me. I remember I was impressed. Still hav e the CD.

Check out West Australian slide guitar master Dave Hole and his Short Fuse Band. Plays the slide from over the top of the fret board.

Go to Kinston Mines in Chicago and you're bound to see her. It's her home away from home. Btw I believe this is Nick's outdoor summer band space in Chicago. Not just someone's backyard

I would like to see a close-up of just her face reminds me of that Facebook thread, where that woman plays this beautiful song and she gives all this facial emotions. This woman exemplifies everything she did, great rock ‘n’ roll and no, I didn’t expect it from her.
