Now that little tiny car has a boosted barra in it & real wheel drive, how would it go compared to the factory WRX back in AWD configuration? As much as I love this build, I hate hearing stories of blown Subies. Once you build engines to WRC spec, they are pretty much are bullet proof to 10,000rpm. I wonder if his Subie engines ever got offset rods installed? That Barra build is amazing though.

Bad engine builder and it's not the car fault it's parts failure. My car is 2014 wrx with 165879 original engine and never had any issue .Mildly moded full exhaust with sti turbo. still running healthy. It's just a bad tuner and parts failure.

The clue might be "mildly modified". The harder an engine is turned-up and the more hours it is run at full noise, the shorter its life. My engine building book has an appendix in the back with some formulas to work out how long your hot engine will live between rebuilds based on factors. See also the modest per-litre power of Le Mans 24 hour race engines.

@yowie0889 i understand that. But if you don't build your engine properly, i.e., right parts and you don't tuner it right, you will have a problem. Mgt here in FL my friend 900 hp sti still running for 9 yrs never had any problem. He drags it and race all the time. Also, he drives it daily. It's all about how you tune it and how you build the right way. You can't just put parts hope for the best.

@ you obviously haven’t been in the modified car scene or had to deal with im240 or engineers reports. Whether it’s engineered or not the police still have the authority to defect the car. They also can take the car off the road, the exhaust on the car can’t be engineered for one because of its decibel sound. The minute he gets called in for exhaust noise and emissions the cars engineers reports don’t mean shit.

Non car guy here probably wrong & hated for this, wouldn't the standard turbo wrx in AWD configuration absolutely blow the doors off that thing now??? Fair enough if you started on the highway as a roll race, but pretty sure (like I said im not a car guy) but the factory wrx would probably eat that thing alive now its all noises right? Not to mention the chassis size compared to the body, you could never fit a big enough and wide enough tire under it to actually put down power with the boosted falcon motor?

No hate mate. You're completely right, the power with the barra is definitely a lot higher but like you said, would get smoked on track bcos of grip. There are things you can do to get more grip to the ground like sway bars, tyres etc, but on the road, probably wouldn't notice much of a difference other than wheel spin. And ofc would have to drive the car differently. These cars usually fit 265/35/18 tyres which is plenty i reckon. Would come down more to the suspension mods and driver mod, working power in higher in the rev range.

A set of Hero's, PSR's, Mickey Thompsons will reduce wheelspin dramatically. It is night and day difference compared to regular tyres. But fitting them will put a LOT more strain on the diff.
