If it means youtube can be less reliant on ad revenue to be sustainable then i'm all for it. No matter how they set it up, there will be ways to game the system, but i'm sure they will continue to adjust the rules over time in an attempt to combat this.

Yeah, many people already have 2nd channels, clips channels, reaction channels, etc. Etc. I can see it being abused / workarounds being found

Well, we do use the platform every day, so we're likely to spot faults in the idea haha. They should consult youtubers before doing new features

Country wise hype totally makes sense. If not, you all would have to watch Indian videos for sure. Also 500k makes sense because the aim is not to make small creators successful. They simply want to increase views on what the general public likes and votes on. I still think this is a bad idea though.

Maybe both then, there could be a top 100 by country and top 100 by category/ genre. It seems the idea just hasn't been fully thought through, hopefully they make some needed changes
