It's actually called a 'rug pull'. They shill a s**t coin and then sell immediately after investors (you and I) are convinced to buy it which raises the price up for them to dump/sell all of their holdings at that price, which then quickly makes the price plummet and leaves what the investors bought pretty worthless. (Pump and Dump is the name of this dishonest scheme.)

You can’t give a negative ‘expert’ opinion (if appropriate), if you’re getting something in return, can you? So, he should simply have acknowledged the conflict of interests (money vs honesty). Then people relying on his advice know it’s been tainted. Edit: disclosure shifts the burden of responsibility onto the consumer because they then *can* make a fully-informed decision based upon *full and accurate* advice, and if the product tanks the consumer/investor has nobody to blame but themselves. Unless they show actual receipts with the day and time they purchased, don't take their word for it. It's one thing if they are just making mistakes once in a while and they experience the crash with everyone else, but they are typically cashing out while convincing you it's a good time to buy. Watch any shiba inu video or doge coin by Stephan or Andrei in the past year and you'll notice the price drops right after they are trying to convince people that they actually bought the all time highs. I'm always selling the top around the same time they are telling people to buy, and I'm actually making money while they convince people to fomo in. lol
