The stub of my daughter's umbilical cord was over 20 years old when I found it while decluttering... so gross! At least it was in a little plastic storage bag and it wasn't moldy or anything.

YES!! Congrats on getting rid of the hard, harsh, farmhouse bed.❤❤ We gave ourselves the gift of a "grown-up" bedroom 2 years ago and it has been the best thing ever. I chose a plush headboard, much like yours, and side table lamps and it instantly felt like a hotel. Our bedroom became our retreat. Thanks for your inspiration over the years!

When my oldest son was in his teens, he loved popsicles. When I'd pull out his bed, I'd find up to 100 popsicle sticks! The best and most heartbreaking thing I found was a poem he wrote in August 2004. This poem was set to music and sung at his funeral. Note: He was KIA in Iraq in September 2005. Now, I'd like to turn back the clock so I could still be cleaning up popsicle sticks.😊

My son is now 38 years old but I will never forget this. I would put the kids clean clothes in their beds for them to put away. He would pile his clean clothes in his floor. When I asked why he didn’t out them away, he said his drawers were too full. So one day, I went to see how they could be so full, when everything was on the floor. He used his dresser drawers for all the snack wrappers and boxes that he ate in his room. I have never seen so many cracker boxes and garbage. Today this day, I SMH!

I just went through my 12yr old daughter's room recently. She is sentimental also & has held onto her old "kiddie" toys. I finally convinced her to declutter those things & she was so happy to have her room so clean/empty/organized. She didn't, however, get rid of any stuffies! She loves them all & says they can't leave.

I love the new bed frame! It suits your style ❤❤ Umm, when my son was 17 we had a Garrett room upstairs. Like a small apartment. I went up there to do a deep clean and in his built ins I found alcohol. My husband and I both worked 10-12 hour days. I felt like the worst mom in the entire world! I dumped all of it out and neatly put back the bottles. There were three. He came home from work that evening and went upstairs. A little later he came down with an expression of confusion and shame. I asked him what was wrong. He said, oh nothing. The next morning before I left for work he said, ok mom. You caught me. What’s my punishment? A month of no driving. I made him watch videos on drinking and my dad was an ex cop, so I got him involved as well. Thank God it all worked. Today he is a cop. I know this story will make me sound like the world’s worst parent. I’m not. I promise!! To this day he will not give up who bought him the alcohol. All I can say is thank you Lord for it not becoming a huge issue

17:35 I've decluttered every decoration that was flocked or shed glitter because my life is better without the mess. I'm sure you could easily create a snowy effect on greenery with white paint and we have lights and metallic ornaments and other objects to make everything shiny and bright.

OMG I have been waiting for this video!! I LOVED the video of you and your sister decluttering your kitchen it kept me more motivated as I was doing it also prior to that video so it just fired me up and your sister has a gift of motivating you as her voice and a lot of what she said made sense and it especially made more sense when you said if my sister wasn't here I would talk to myself the reason to keep this stuff that we really don't need!! I just went through all of my Christmas decorations and donated a bunch of stuff! I feel so much better knowing that it isn’t in my house and could maybe decorate someone else’s house! Next year is our big declutter year. We are now in our 70’s and , not that we are thinking of death by any means, but clearing out makes you feel so much lighter and happier. I can’t wait!

Don’t know if you are familiar with the method of folding clothes where they stand up in drawers so you see everything. I changed my house to that method about 3 years ago & it allows you to only pull out that item & not have to move other items. Every drawer in my house is organized that way now. Easy to go through everything when purging too. I roll a lot of items. Makes for easy packing for trips as well. Love the cabinets to hold decor. I need to do that in my craft room. Looks great & freeing !!!

When my middle son was around 3 years old my measuring cups, measuring spoons and garlic press vanished from the kitchen. About a week later i was putting clean clothes in my sons drawer and there were my missing items. He is now 23 and loves to cook. 😀

I agree it always feels like your house can breathe better after a really thorough decluttering. Besides the twice a year declutter I do of the kids toys and clothes as they switch from warm to cold clothes and back again. I've now got into the habit of just when I'm doing my normal pick ups or putting away of things that if I see something that I realise I no longer use at all because I gravitate to something else I love I pull it out and put it in the declutter bin. That way I never have to spend hours or a full day decluttering any more. Now I don't have a curated collection of decor that I switch out for each season I use the same decor year round except for seasonal pillow cases and Easter and Christmas decor so obviously you have to keep track of what your gravitate more to season by season there but if it hasn't been used for 6 months and it's not seasonal or holiday decor it leaves my house. You can automatically just look at an item and know if you use it anymore.

I like the new bedframe. What's missing is a wallpaper behind the bed. Colors picked up from what you already have. Maybe branches with flowers? A brown or green color complimenting what you already have. Unless you want to change the bedding? Rug and nightstand, then the sky is the limit in wallpaper colors and designs. Or maybe just a big painting or 2 small ones will do the trick and you will not have to do anything else.

Love the upholstered bed frame! I am curious what you’re planning with the bench at the foot of the bed now. It is a lovely piece but my feeling is that it went better with the footboard of the old bed frame because of the height and contrast. They unpacked a box and the moving company had actually somehow packed a piece of poop from their puppies accident in the house….gross! The most random thing I found while declutterring my grandchild’s room was the plastic size indicator found on clothing hangers! 😂 She had a dozen of different colors from small to xxl! Found on the floors of dept stores. I asked her why? I was told that she picked them up off of the floor and tried to give them to the sales clerk, She said” that’s ok you can keep them”! 😂😂😂they are her treasure’s!
