We took on some hens from fresh start too last week. We were taken away quite how regularly they are laying. A week on and their feathers are starting to return, they are bright and happy. Well done for supporting a great cause!

I had 3 rescue chickens, got them last February when cagged eggs were phased out. Sadly 1 passed away this past December but my other 2 are happy free rangers + 5 newbies. I also have an omlet coop and fences too, best investment ever.

I would recommend to get these bands that come in different colours and you can clip them on there ankle and it will make it a load easier to identify them❤

My birds have them. I would wait for Esme to get them when the chicken are a bit older because she can put those bands on and as they grow the band on their legs can get titer I would suggest when they are a year old is a good idea! Xxxx That's a good suggestion though.

Oyster shells gives the chickens extra calcium which will prevent them from getting egg bound and makes their eggs have stronger shells

I’m only now watching this bc I missed it, I love that you’re rescuing them, we do that as well, we rescue batry (or however u spell it )chickens, the ones that are shut up in cages and forced to lay eggs all day. And then we give them a very very free life running around in our Feilds and eating worms ect ❤ we do rescue free range ones as well since they deserve a better life as well❤❤❤

For names you could mane them after their personalities, my chickens had names like Disco Diva and Green Eyes. PS chickens love scrambled eggs, and they are a great source of protein for them when they are moulting! 🐓 ❤

What we did w ours is rescue a load, buy a cockerel and buy some different breeds of chickens or chickens eggs and hatch them and then every summer incubate a couple of eggs and then you’d get cross breads of chickens, it’s soo cute we have some normal looking white chickens but they have a beard of feathers and/or tufts bits of feathers on their ears / head / feet it’s so cuteeee u should do thattt, and the more chickens and cockerels u get they make little families, u do have to be careful that the cockerels don’t fight too much. We’ve had to separate some of ours so they don’t fight. The chickens will peck the younger and weaker ones to show em who’s boss but that’s nothing to worry about unless they’re proper fighting which is quite uncommon xx
