I would have centered the frame to the tv. The self tapping screws are awesome. I use the exterior self tapping torx versions for everything possible.

So since you come up with the design in your head and y’all aren’t following plans, how does Matt know how to build what you design? 😂 @ electricians now 😝. I try and find inspo for him to see what I’m going for and then I tell if If something needs to be changed. Other times if I can’t find the inspo that I’m thinking about I tell him and he draws me a sketch and I’ll make necessary adjustments. So yea. Lol. It’s a whole process haha. See ya next week!

Designing is not easy because if your design is off the whole project is off. I worked at a major hospital they were opening a new ambulatory facility that was going to have overnight care. Each room had very tall wardrobes that had 2 inch overhang well the overhang was too much for the area it was going in. Me as a nursing assistant was thinking as they were putting it in didn’t she know that wasn’t going to fit. It’s those kinds of thing you have to take in account. So great job guys, teamwork ❤❤

I love how you built the box first. I would love one of these built for my bedroom fireplace, which looks just like your mother in law's, except my heating element is on the top. Would you be able to tell me the best way to build it to have access to the cord and make sure it doesn't heat the bottom of my TV? First, thank you so much for the positive comment ☺️ The units we’ve worked with have only required about 8” of clearance from the top but we suggest checking the manufacturer’s recommendations for each unit. Since you need to dedicate an outlet to the fireplace you may want to have an electrician add an extra one if needed but my mother in law had two extras on the same wall so we were okay. If you ever need to service or replace the unit you can always slide it right out which is the best part about electric fireplaces. You got this! Let us know how it turns out 🤗.
