My mother in law used to love to create aged vessels. She used to add coffee and cinnamon to pieces and it really gave it another much older effect

I just stumbled across your video today while I was inside cooling off...let me just say WOW!! I am a crafter upcycler, thrifter, decorator...I'm follow several KZbin channels. But I'm VERY impressed with this one from you. I've watched multiple videos on how to get that aged earthenware, antique pottery look. Yours was really very good! For a couple reasons- you are easy to understand, to the point, very clear in your instructions and you show what your doing but not 25min of rambling on about it. I didn't FWD once! I'm going to check out the rest of your channel now! 👍🏻

She's not kidding about doing think layers. I learned that the hard way and ended up throwing my first try away (it was a recycled jar, so no biggie). Keep in mind you can create texture/depth with the paint after you do a layer of joint compound.

These are beautiful! You are so very talented. I attempted one pot. It was a major fail. F.A.I.L. I think I had too much baking soda and didn't blend enough. So envious of yours, they look like you bought them like that. ⚱
@thisgirlathome Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I know the mixture can be a little tricky to get used to, especially because it makes the paint dry so quickly. It helps if you have a damp paper towel handy. You can use that to smooth spots that aren’t blended well 🖤

Hi. Nice video. Can you give me a bit more info on when an how to use the baking soda mixture? I also wonder if mixing it with water before adding it to paint would be helpful.
@thisgirlathome Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert! As long as your vessel is cleaned and dry you can use the baking soda mixture. Definitely do not use any water!! It will dilute your mixture and you’ll have a wet mess on your hands that won’t stick well. Just stick to the paint and baking soda.
@vivik2783 Жыл бұрын
You did a great job! All of them look amazing but my favourite is the lamp! I loved the moody,rusty look of it. I just wanted to ask you if you used baking soda in the paint you used when blending the colours or was it just in the base coat? And did you use acrylic paint or the one we use on furniture or walls? Thank you!!!
@thisgirlathome Жыл бұрын
Thank you! ☺️ I used baking soda in all of the paint, even the accent colors. It keeps the texture consistent. I used both types of paint actually. It doesn’t make a difference which you use, I just used what I had on hand.

Thank you! I’m not certain which black it is, but I always choose the truest black I can find. It’s totally up to you if you want to seal your pieces, just use the seal in thin coats if you decide to do it!

@thisgirlathome Жыл бұрын
It depends on the piece and what I’m using it for. If it’s for dried florals and you won’t see the inside, then no. I typically do the bottom with just a basic coat since you won’t see that either.
