I grew up in Zim in the 50s and 60s and tiger were and still are my favourite species to pursue . I must compliment you young man and your team for this world class , comprehensive presentation on tiger fishing . Probably the best video on this subject I have seen . Well done and all the best for the future . The bird sounds especially the Barbets and Francolin took me back to my childhood days fishing in the Matopas area of Bulawayo . Great video .

I was amazed to find that Tiger Fish are also found in West Africa. They appeared in our storage dam in Northern Ghana - first noticed jumping for swallows drinking from the dam surface.

Well done, very informative and great to learn some new ideas and reinforce the old one's we saw our Dad's, Uncle's and Grandfather's fish when we were younger Fisherman. I remember my Uncle from Tengwe using a float! It worked very well on the river in the dirty clean waters.

The nature in africa is stunning but I think it's way too dangerous to go there. I've never been there but aligators and hippos along with deadly diseases seem like a big no. What is the fishing there like? Is there a lot of tigerfish and if yeah did you catch a big one already. I hope a hippo didn't capsize your boat 😂

Thanks for boosting one of my favorite fishes ~ when I started fishing for tigerfish I was a teenager. Back in the day we used large Mepps spoons (with that lovely red scale pattern on one side) and a plastic coated wire trace, and still caught our fair share of fish. Nowadays I prefer using a fly rod and knot2kinky wire trace with attractor type flies such as a Clouser minnow in Mickey Finn colors, or a smaller fly in bream or minnow colors. Whatever the case, contrast is important in the pattern choice.. It usually outfishes bait and lure anglers. Tight lines to you and everyone who loves tigerfish and wants to preserve them and their natural habitat.

By the way, I find the use of live bait probably one of the cruelest things one can do to any animal. Fish are sentient and do in fact feel pain. Otherwise good.

Top video bud really informative 👍.... on my way to jozini tomorrow....I fish for tigers almost exactly as you have explained so rewarding catching them on artificials....however I get hit most on whopper plopper.... but hook up ratios are really terrible need to look into this coz they absolutely will not leave it alone ... once again good vid keep them coming dude!!!

At my age I'm sorted. Drifting from Chirundu to Mana is the place. Any rod will do. Barbel fillet drift bait. The trick to success is the company. So my mates from Ellis Robins from the day are good. Cooler box must be full. That's non negotiable. Mozi lager, ouzo and cream soda depending on the position of the sun. If the bait come off, it's not a train smash. The best part is just being there. Nice video. Hoping to be there in November. I'll try and take it seriously. 😂

Nice vid, as a kid who’s gone on many pre tiger tournament trips I can agree with everything he’s saying, you should also take a look at a bait runner for your live baits and I wonder if you’d get a better hook up ratio with a circle hook on an Afrijg, I’ll have to try and see if I can make one or try to something

I’ve found the Tempest Tiger Elite a bit too stiff. For slight more, the Assassin Infinity MH does great. Paired with a 4000 Stradic with 30lbs braid works well. With trolling heavier line is always better. Not so nice loosing an expensive Rapala Magnum that gets stuck on a rock or net.
@Lemonk-od1hk

If your in a boat after you cast let some more line go because the fish can feel the vibrations In the water (if there is a current) in still water cast as far as possible

@@GrumpyTinashe I think that the best and possibly cheapest places would be anywhere along the Zambezi and in kariba because the places in the lowveld are generally exclusive and expensive so hard to get a chance to fish and also kariba and the zambezi generally have larger fish anyway
