Must share something very important. I see each note as having a color and shape. And the notes seem to follow the rainbow. When I saw this keyboard I flipped out. Besides the B note, it is exactly the same as I see the colors. Not only that, but C as red explains why love songs are always written in C. You can take any Eurythmics song about love and it’s in C major. Even odd songs of theirs like “Love is a Stranger.” Still in C. Over the years I have been writing out an entire Theory of Pitch Psychology that explains the thematic and psychological implications of any given key. And this is directly related to perfect pitch. Which basically is the skill of identifying and recognizing the textural quality or “coloring” of each note. I’m very happy that LUMI is on the right track with this keyboard, and I have been writing to them about their approach to marketing the keyboard. Including its smaller size, which is matches the 7/8ths keyboard of specialty pianos made for people with small hands.

@@RioboCabotD yeah I've been quite happy with the device! There are some additional costs for sound packs from Roli, but they are of course optional. I've been composing a "RPG game battle" song with the included software and the Lumi, and it's a fun but very time consuming work/hobby.

It will definitely address both of those. It's best quality is being able to just play on your phone wherever you take it.

I am surprised that you didn’t mention the biggest con of all: The keys are smaller than piano keys. This means any skills you develop on this keyboard are not directly transferable to a piano or other keyboards.

In some ways that’s actually a pro because as a 7/8ths keyboard, people with smaller hands (especially women AND children) can play this keyboard. In fact, as of 2024, this is the ONLY 7/8ths keyboard of its kind. (The rest are actually real acoustic pianos built with the narrower keys (8 keys fitted into the length of 7). These keyboards’(including the LUMI) actually no problem switching sizes. It is a myth that finger memory is fixed to a particular distance. I’m a pianist, and I got on a friends old 80s Yamaha mini keyboards. I was shocked at how I almost instantly my fingers adapted to it. I explain this on my channel. It’s the same concept as the fact that finger-memory is relative to the respective size. This explains why we have the same handwriting whether we write on a small piece of paper or on a large one. I’m actually RECOMMENDING this to my female students and my child students . Less strain on the joints. This keyboard allows the handful of of exceptionallly gifted young children I teach to do far more than would be able to do on an acoustic piano.

Does the sound goes out of the keyboard or do I need to connect it to a PC ? Or a phone ? It would be really cool if I could just get the keyboard on my knees, connect a headphone and voilaaa I use to travel (bus/train/car) for long trips (more than 6h) and if I need to take out my PC it's complicated...

I am trying to figure out if I can use this keyboard completely remotely. Like if I have my phone and a Bluetooth speaker, can I play it with a reasonable range of functionality around a campfire? Does anyone know how that goes?

I’d say no, this is a midi keyboard so doesn’t have any sounds to my understanding.

Seaboard is basically a more complex version, 5d instead of 4d, much more expensive, but overall just an upgrade (harder to use tho). Also Lumi can be used to learn piano which is something to take into account

Yeah, I also thought it offered me some more options, but 5:4 is not that much and, as far as playability is concerned, I guess, with Seaboard there might be a learning curve that I still have to master whereas Lumi, at that price, if all else fails, would still serve me as an extendable mobile input keyboard, since I know how to play the piano, which is precisely why I sprung USD199 each on two Miselu C.24 eons ago, which never lived up to the promise of providing even the mobile input aspect because of bluetooth latency issues. I think I'll check out the Lumi next, then, it would upgrade my setup immediately and hopefully give me some new options and, when I feel experimental, I could check out the Seaboard. But at this point, I just want to get my mobile keyboarding back on track. Plus I still have this somewhat more ambitious idea of converting one or two of those little things into the base for a keytar :-D

@@jorglohken5566 Even tho 5 to 4 might seem a small upgrade, if u see it's presentation u can see that it has way more things to do, like two different slides aside from the keys for example, I'd say that if u are going for electronic and SFX, the seaboard is much better, but for just a nice and functional keyboard the Lumi is definitely a much cheaper option which suits u better
