Cannot believe you do not have a sign on/off sheet for all vehicles. That will stop you asking who's, who, in the Zoo. Either that or put in pad in vehicles sign on off computer wise. Tells you how your vehicles are revving where,when, anytime, what gear, what speed. Very handy if drivers have accidents.

I find installing fob readers so before it’s used a fob/user id must be logged that way can monitor machine usage and see who uses what when also allowing for additional data to be collected to aid future productivity etc

As a maintenance millwright I’ve found sign sheets are useless, people just fill them out blindly, don’t fill them out or they get wrecked by the elements. A computer system would be good idea, these guys already have driver cards for the trucks.

After Brexit covid and now this war we need to think about everything we spend because we are on the doorstep of biggest recession the world has ever faced. As Martin Lewis let slip the other day there is a global crash coming. I am one of the most positive people I know you never hear me speak like this but we can all feel it coming. I am also a entrepreneur that progressed nicely through the last recession but this is different. Like Daniel said bigger is not always better in this environment we need to be slim and smart. Sounds like a breach of contract if they allowed someone to undercut you after the accepting your bid. You could theoretically claim damages like loss of earnings rather than undercutting again. Although I'm sure you weighed the pros and cons of doing that and probably want a amicable relationship with the company to get future work rather than a hostile relationship.

Pooled plant and vehicles are never looked after properly, unless a dedicated person is put in charge of it. I worked on the construction of the Victoria Line tube and the Walthamstow site had a fleet of Morris vehicles, senior employees had cars written into their contracts. Joiner site engineers had the use of a Morris Traveler estate for site work only, I was the FE Loader driver and was tasked to take care of the Traveler that was 6 months old grey in colour with cream wheels. One day an engineer took it out and returned 3 hrs. later and the car looked strange, them I clicked the wheels were light green, the tyres were odd makes one was even a remold. I called the engineers office and asked why and suggested if I could find something wrong the boss will surly find it. He drove off and came back an hour later with the right wheels, he will still have to buy his wife a new set of rubbers.

By the way, here are my criterias for a good boss: -don't expect others to do, what you wouldn't do -listen, if someone has a problem -have a sense of humor -make the people do, what they get paid for, but with respect and kindness -be able to adapt to sudden issues if shit hits the fan -and don't squeeze workers out like lemons Can't see one of them, which Daniel doesn't meet. If I ever go to the UK, I give you my CV and we will see, if I meet your criteria as well👍 Always the best for your future and business! Love your videos, man! Greets from NZ

Never understand these peoples attitude where “it’s not mine so I’m not bothered”. I drive buses for a company that turns 50+ million a year and runs 350 vehicles and people think “well they can afford it” if I go about smashing the buses up and ragging them to death then I will be driving nasty old buses for longer because they will need to be earning their repairs… luckily for us our oldest ones are on 11 plates and are being replaced. These same people will be complaining that they want newer nicer equipment and that they never get it… 🤯

Hey Daniel, i have a suggestion for you.. To stop accidents or incidences happening and you being unable to decipher who done it. Why not have a sign in/sign out form for each vehicle and day? So when a driver needs to use a vehicle they go see terry, sign on it and get the keys. Then when they’re finished with it they hand it back and sign out. This way you can keep track of who’s using which vehicle, when and at what time. Then if anything happens in between all of that.. e.g a accident unaccounted for, you know who it was driving that machine.

It’s not just about assigning blame it’s about finding out why so it can be avoided next time .. same as H&S
@eddieroberts7272 жыл бұрын
@@makg4655 I agree its not about blame. But without knowing who drove what and when, the likely hood of being told the truth is slim. As he mention’s many time’s, pointless him asking everyone cause he’s chasing his tail trying to find out. With some thing like this put in place he’ll have more of a chance of finding out the truth about what has happened.

Hi Daniel great video as always, not trying to teach you to suck eggs but you really should operate that hooklift from inside the cab and leave the brakes off and push the truck out from under the bin, and when loading pull the truck under it instead of using the bin's metal rollers, you only need to catch a stone or a bump/pothole and it could fling the bin completely off your rear guides...had it happen myself and damaged the lights, wing, lock box etc, i appreciate you were on decent clean looking concrete but ask anyone who's been using hooklifts for a long time and i'm sure they'll agree with me :)
