these types of accomodations arent cheap, you would likely get the wealthier students whose parents are well off and paying for accomodation that would live here. The maintenance loan, as well as most average parents incomes, wont be able to cover the monthly costs of a place like this speaking from personal experience.
@SollersScrappingandDiving3 жыл бұрын
@@georgewithey1689 no for sure, back in the day my uni accommodation was a nice private owned developmemt but it was nothing compared to that and certainly nowhere near the equivalent of £200 a week!

@@SollersScrappingandDiving Its certainly a lot, if students are solely relying on the maintenance grant only, thats about 70-80% of it spent on rent. How do you live? best to go elsewhere for most. Dead interesting project, fascinating to hear from Andrew et al. and to see that it's really just the £ numbers that have shifted on - back in the early 90's as a consultant building service engineer mainly doing NHS work, a district general hospital cost about the same as this!

"back in the early 90's as a consultant building service engineer mainly doing NHS work, a district general hospital cost about the same as this!" Well, they ain't printing all this money for nuffink, you know? Now compare that against the increase in salaries. Future generations are fukkkkkkkkt.

@@nilau3295Yeah, economics is different in many ways from back then! BoE: Quantitative Easing Cabinet: Quantitative Sleazing If prices roughly double with each decade, a £50m hospital in 1990 would be £400m these days. Typical cost per square metre for a general hospital is about £3300 (regions vary) Taking this block back to 1990 on the same basis would expect it costing about £8m, or about 1/5th of a hospital. Prices are odd, though the only thing that seems to be true is stuff is expensive no matter what. ✌️
