According to recent reports, not only was An Se Young made to do odd jobs for her coach, senior players, and teammates while suffering verbal and physical abuse, but she was even forced to wash the underwear of male players! It’s absolutely outrageous🤬, but sadly, this is just the tip of the iceberg in Korea. Let's hope they finally take these issues seriously!

great video, but we need the follow up: do the assosiation (nation and intenational) make a statement or response? do we have statement from her persoal trainer? what are public reaction? does her got some kind of threat or something? does she has next tournament that she could participate? so we can monitor and see the association move / threatment to her? what’s next for her?

The willingness to take in foreign players is something important to consider. For WS, only China is consistently strong and they certainly wouldn't take her in. Just come to Singapore, she will be welcomed with open arms and lots of incentives. She made it despite being disadvantaged by the Korean association, she certainly wouldn't do worse in another country that supports her.

I don't think she wants to jump ship to another country per se. What she meant by 'leaving the national team' is to leave the S.Korea association training setup and compete as an independent player while STILL representing S.Korea in tournaments. But at her current status she's not allowed to, and that's why she's taking issue.

i seriously never liked AnSeYoung, for reasons even I, myself dont know or understand, I try to contemplate about it, and one reason is because of her gamestyle ( which i initially thought to be boring) but i slowly realised how brilliant her game style actually is. Now, after hearing her stories about her very own national team; i can finally say that i completely support this young legend. Her sentiments are so valid and i could not help but to feel sorry and frustrated for her situation. i hope that this will change the way they run the korean national team- this is indeed toxic to their players.

An Se Young is so brave for speaking up. Unfortunately, many country national team always had dark side. Lee Zii Jia from Malaysia also left malaysia national team (BAM) Badminton Association of Malaysia due to overpowered by national team. Is so much pressure for Lee Zii Jia as well. Although, he's independent player, yet still won for Malaysia. Is tough because he's been ban for over 2 years before participate in international team. Same with An Se Yonung, she's definitely the best single player in Korea. Hopefully, things will get better. She's so humble, disciplined and strong. Is really unfortunate Korea society are always rigid and homogenous. On top of that, toxic senior junior unfair treatment too.

I knew immediately there something wrong with this Association, and i have strong feelings that maybe she's actually telling the truth. Why Korean Badminton Association have to mention other sports athlete when they have to focus on their own sports. Why they have to compare her to Yuna Kim when she brings honour to Korean Badminton. Right now An Se Young is the queen of this sport not just for Korea but also to the world. They should be proud of her achievement. Instead do the best they can to keep their best athletes in top condition, they do despicable things to her.

If I may suggest, you should seriously consider playing for another country that recognize your talent and willing to listen and support you. That's a fairly good point to a certain extent, but what you dont understand is the fact that none of the other countries put up a similar level of restrictions that they put on so many things within their rules and regulations under the guise of freedom like South Korea, specifically the KBA. That's what you clearly trying to dismiss, like oh it's the same in every countries, the same rules and restrictions applied everywhere else, when in fact you're lack of concern speaks a lot about your lack of empathy, the tone of ignorance, and your zero support towards the issue. You're lucky enough to have never had the experience of becoming a professional badminton player from Korea like her, as you can only speak for yourself based on your own point of view without the motivation to be an Olympic champion like ASY for what she has been going through before she finally speaks up. Get a life and later on once you finally get to experience something really difficult in real life, then perhaps you will understand what ASY tried to address publicly after facing tough moments and earned your own voice to speak up based on your own hardship and experience eventhough I 100 percent doubt that it will involve you winning an Olympic gold medal in real life.

@nyipatingang99 So you can only offer empathy at your best. You can't even help her. You're not even planning to help her, That's as far as anyone can go. Offer condolences and move on with their life. You talk about Empathy and emotional supports yet you have no Solutions for any of these. Its part of the reason why I said ALL COUNTRIES Have similar problems. Not An Se Young, Not S.Korea only. But All, And everyone have no solutions for this. Right now, you just wanted to win. So I give you a win. This is my last reply. Goodbye. Stranger.
