On 30 May 2001, Queen Elizabeth II arrived at Gardermoen Military Airport in the Norwegian capital of Oslo, beginning a state visit to the country at the invitation of King Harald V. Received by her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was already in the country, the Queen's first day consisted of engagements with King Harald V and his wife, Queen Sonja, at Akershus Fortress and Oslo's Royal Palace.

The Late Queen's beloved paternal grandfather King George V and King Harald V's paternal grandmother Queen Maud of Norway and Wales, were siblings

Love the story of how Harald's grandmother Queen Maude use to ring her brother King George V from Norway & when someone would answer the phone (usually staff/footman) the first thing Queen Maude would say is "Is that you , you silly old fool" 😆

What?😂 I’ve never heard this anecdote. Did she say that because she thought it was her brother answering the phone or did she recognise the servant’s voice?😄

@@tootikisbathhouse2093 yes, she always thought it was her brother George V answering the phone which is why she would say "is that you, you silly old fool" , the footman would usually say "no your majesty, I'll go & fetch His Majesty". When George V would get on the phone, he would say to Queen Maude "Hello Harry" (Maude's nickname). Lady Glen Connor, tells alot of old royal stories.

Actually it’s also a family meeting. Their individual grandparents George V and Queen Maud were brother and sister. With King Harald father born in England.

As an American, I had so much respect and admiration for Her Majesty and Philip. She did as she said in her first speech after learning about her Father's death....I dedicate my life be it long or short 👑

His Majesty was very sick. Got ill with an infection during a private holiday with HM the Queen in Malaysia. Had to be evacuated by a medical aircraft sent by the Royal Norwegian Defence. Got a pacemaker when he landed in Norway. Luckily he was able to celebrate Easter at home with family. He is on the mend now and scheduled to resume his duties later this month. HRH the Crown Prince has stepped in as Crown Prince Regent during this period as the constitution dictates. All Norwegians hope for his quick recovery. He is very much regarded as the entire country’s grandfather❤

There is something impossible here. When the queen left the airport she was sitting on the left behind the driver but when she arrived at the palace she was sitting on the right and Philip was behind the driver.

The clips are in the wrong order. 13:48 After arriving at the airport, they first drive to the Royal Palace, where King Haral welcomed them in gala uniform, with medals and orders. 05:30 Later, in the afternoon, is when they go to Akershus Fortress to lay down the wreath, King Harald in plain uniform, without orders and medals.

El protocolo fatal. La reina no sabía por qué lado de la limusina debía estar. Al llegar la puerta del coche la dejaron abierta al punto que la reina intentó cerrar la puerta. El coche súper incómodo por lo bajo que era. En fin. Con razón los monarcas del reino Unido tienen una limusina diseñada exclusivamente en cuanto a blindaje, altura y confort

Whether one is a monarchist or not, it has to be said that that old Queen performed her role immaculately; never put a foot wrong. She had been coached by her post-Abdication mother. You just do what you are obliged to do. Rarely said or probably thought an interesting thing, but that was not the point of her. She became a symbol of Great Britain. Hardly her fault that she continued way beyond her sell-by date.
