On the 6th of February 1952, while in Kenya then princess Elizabeth became the monarch her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, after the sad passing of her father King George VI the night before. The late monarch returned to Kenya thrice 1. On a one day visit on 26th march 1972 2. On a state visit from 10th to 14th November 1983 3. On a one day visit on 7th October 1991. Although majority of Kenyans were not fond of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II neither are they of King Charles III, because of the way the British handled the Mau Mau rebellion in the 1950s. Having visited Kenya thrice in 1971, 1978 and 1987 his majesty King Charles III just arrived in Kenya this morning for the first time as King Charles III. This visit to Kenya is his first to Africa as monarch of the United kingdom. From a Nigerian who lives in Nigeria 🇳🇬.

It's fashionable these days to view the monarchy as old fashioned but the Queen was very much involved, interested and concerned for the commonwealth years before anyone alleged they were racist. It just came natural to her.
