He did miss a very real part of it, even tho they did the typical HWood trope of never having to reload. Those tools they were using to pop the deposit box locks are very real, except you have to reload after each pop. Now a days they are shaped like guns, the ones they were using require a hammer to smack them, it’s a nail gun for attaching wood to concrete or steel. You put a little “bullet” in but there’s no bullet, it’s just a charge, and it drives a steel post into a nail, if you don’t load a nail, that post will blow up almost any lock. It works incredibly well. Like unbelievably well. I’ve never seen a padlock survive one hit, a safety deposit box lock wouldn’t stand a chance. It takes a second to reload, so if there’s two locks on the box it doesn’t matter. They are super loud tho, but I guess an RPG is louder.

I love this duo, especially Oky's vibe, they need a show of their own. A small addendum, as a physicist, I can say that liquid nitrogen is not as dangerous as it sounds, you can casually pour it into your hand without any problems (the leidenfrost effect protects you), the problem is in the prolonged contact. As for the movie scene, you would need an absurd amount to freeze all that mass of metal, which would be unfeasible
@whitewolfsix71093 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we use it to freeze stuff at work regularly and if something falls in, it is really not that hard to just... grab it out. Gloves off, though, because if there is a hole in the glove and it gets inside and trapped there... now that is trouble! Liquid ethane scares me more.
@AlexbasicC3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the problem is more if it fell on your cloths, I think I would not be very fun. Maybe it was really use on small lock mechanism, either by breaking them, or by shrinking them by thermal dilatation (well the opposite of thermal dilatation but I don't know the English world for that)

yeah in fact a trick upperclassmen in my physics department do every year to spook freshmen is just get a tank of liquid nitrogen, a big empty box, and start pouring liquid nitrogen in and then drop random stuff into the box, let it freeze for a few moments, and then fish it out and let it shatter on the floor. Then lastly when they're done with it they just pour the liquid nitrogen out to the floor and make people scream

just to clarify: the reason for the consistent disparity in their ratings is (probably) that they are both rating it's realism _according to their experiences_ so the thief guy is rating things compared to a career of hundreds of successful robberies (and at least 1 not so successful one) and thousands of stories of how things work and how things go wrong, meanwhile the cop guy is rating more compared to the _bad_ thieves that actually left a real case to work with many of which are bad explicitly _because_ they think movies are good instructional materials, heck, he even goes on about exactly that happening a couple times in the video...kinda sounds like he's fanboying over the pink panthers really. as he put it "I think that...around...7 or 8 percent has been recovered" so a disproportionate portion of his personal sample set falls into that outlier group...especially if that number is anywhere near as inflated as it reasonably would be.
@yourmum69_4202 жыл бұрын
to some extent maybe, but just because you haven't recovered a stolen painting, doesn't mean always you don't know how it was taken.
@evernewb20732 жыл бұрын
@@yourmum69_420 yep! but they are still both going to have disproportionately skewed views the [cop] likely moreso than the [thief] especially when the cop's job in the video is to provide the audience-representative perspective while the thief's is to laugh and/or groan at the clips and provide an expert opinion that appears good enough to justify the laughing and groaning to the audience. how-to-craft-a-story wise it leaves the thief in a much better position to _actually_ act as an expert while sticking to their role in the story/presentation, they are also a lot more free to share information on how things actually work without infringing on things back in the real world.

👍I love this duo. Oky is brutal with his ratings. They need their own show. A reality show, KZbin channel, something, anything…I’d like to see more of them. 👍💝

These two are probably the most interesting guests so far. Audio was terrible though, do fix that in the future episodes.

Back in the days I was resident DJ in a club in Amsterdam where oky was every week. He was always so calm and nice. I've talked to him many times but never knew he was who he is. Only later did I find out who he is and his reputation is solid..!

You can tell they did not watch oceans 8 bc all of his complaints were already addressed in the movie. The double security lock on the necklace was already figured out
@whynothanks20473 жыл бұрын
In most videos like this, they don’t watch/react to the whole movie, just the clip. I agree that it would be nice for them to have the whole context, but I guess it’s impractical to obligate someone to watch that many movies in preparation lol

When he talks about worn pads on the combination I immediately recalled one of the splinter cell games (cant recall which one) in which you would wait for a guard to enter the combination and then would use a thermal heat detector to deduce which buttons where pressed. Yeah I know its a game but those games were really accurate when it came to source material.

"The Real Lupin is sitting next to me." That's so cool. If the detective from the Catch Me If You Can was still alive, we could have watched the similar documentary. And also, in my opinion, Catch Me If You Can guy could do all those stuff because in his days, technology like today was not developed yet.

Also something they didn't mention was if you leave a calling card then the police can pin you to every single crime you left it at. You have just made it much easier for them to prove something that would normally be difficult
