So sorry to let you know that Kelowna is EXPENSIVE, VERY VERY VERY. I've been living here since 2021 and groceries increased more than 55% in 2 years, rent is almost as expensive as Victoria or Vancouver (there are no 1bed ap for less than 1200, not even in Rutland). The city is surrounded by mountains, so it has no more growing space, what made the rents so absurd. YES, IT IS BEAUTIFULL and I don't think I'll ever move from here, but I don't reccomend it for newcomers.

@joanalmarini
@joanalmarini 11 ай бұрын
@@jeanbolduc5818 Only if you include BIKE "abdution" in this statistic. And the bike roberies are NOT VIOLENT here, they are abducted from gardens, etc, without violence. If you only include violent crimes, Kelowna is among the top 100, but the crime rate is still low (comparing to other countries, to US, to larger cities). I have lots of "cons" about Kelowna, but this is a safe city (and I'm using data from the RMCP, not from my head ;) ).

People don't believe this. All Canadian cities with a population of less than a million look like rural areas. These cities have small city centers dotted with homeless people and drug addicts. There are only a few normal cities in Canada where it is almost impossible to afford to buy a home. By buying real estate at such prices, you support speculation and increase the price of real estate in the region even more. The real price for real estate and rent should be 2-3 times less than the declared one. People with regular salaries cannot afford to live here normally.

1800+ for a 1BR rent is not affordable. There's a lot more cities that are more affordable than you've name. Lethbridge, edmonton,red deer,regina, There's a lot more.

@ThisisYulia yes but London, Kelowna, those are unaffordable realistically.2yrs ago Kelowna was affordable but right now it's expensive. Southern Ontario is just expensive. 1800 for a 1 bedroom is way expensive, at 1200 you could get a 2BR in edmonton, houses in the city are affordable too, you could buy a condo for 80K,there's lot og jobs but the major downside for edmonton is extreme weather. Lethbridge is the 2nd or 3rd sunniest city, not the sunniest

I used to live in Lethbridge from 2015 to 2017, it’s indeed cheap place for international students but I would never recommend the city for new comers honestly speaking. The city is one of the most dangerous place in Canada and there are very few opportunities for those seeking the PR. Most of students (including me at the time) moved to Calgary for better opportunities and quality of life. It’s very common to see syringes in the parks and streets and a LOT of homeless with mental health issues that can be dangerous sometimes. My apartment got broken into twice in only 3 years… I would recommend Medicine Hat instead which has about the same size and cost of living, but much more safe than Lethbridge.

thanks for your comment and for letting us now! I feel like homelessness is the problem everywhere especially after covid. I visited Toronto this spring and it’s the same thing: syringes in the park, people with mental issues, small crimes etc. 🫠

Most important, there is no freedom of expression in Canada. This means that you cannot speak your mind at the workplace or in any place that is not your home at risk of getting fired, demoted, or having your bank account frozen with no court order. If this is what you are looking for, then this is the place to be. You will also have to work just to pay taxes if you come to Canada, regardless of how much you make. In exchange you will get a broken health system, unaffordable housing, a dysfunctional justice system, a corrupt and ideologically-oriented education, a super boring social life, and a place where it's hard to make good friends. There are much beller places in the world today, where people are treated well and you can have a great social life. The govt does not treat you well here and crime is rising quickly, Do your homework before coming.

Broken health system compared to where? I always had good experiences with it and so have my family members, some of whom are getting older and have had major health issues in recent years. Unlike the US, people don't go bankrupt. As for people losing their jobs for "speaking their minds" in the workplace, I've never heard of such a thing.

Affordable in Canada is very misleading, newcomers do your research and have a very good paying job before you get here life here costs lots and lots of money. Public transportation is not good in smaller cities and larger ones too. (Google map distances to see.) you have no idea how far cities are apart, London Ontario to Charlottetown PEI 1875 km.

Perfect cities for students with families or if you don't like social interaction, because are very boring. Toronto is the most expensive, but lot of energy, sports, concerts, art, festivals, world events. If you like this, London is the best option, or hamilton, Ottawa, something close. I have very unpopular opinion that those small and medium size cities are actually less affordable than places like Toronto for example, for some reason when everyone talks about affordability then it’s only about housing, whereas in fact there are other aspects too such as amount of salary , amount of taxes you pay, prices for your grocery, prices for traveling outside of Canada, restaurants and so on, and usually toronto would give you better prices and salaries and lower taxes than most of the small cities and plus it’s fun and if you know how to think outside of the box you can make a good living in Toronto and enjoy your life

For sure! It depends on which places we’re talking about and the quality of education, though. Colleges in Canada have started charging exorbitant prices for mediocre diplomas for international students who later find themselves sitting for years in express entry pools waiting for the promise of PR. You could find higher quality education still living in a developed country if you do your research and maths well! 😉 After all, let’s be honest, the lure of most of Canadian colleges is to attract students who want to study in English and get a PR, not sell them academic excellence. There are top tanked universities here as well, but most international students don’t have neither financial nor academic means to get there. Greetings!

London, Ontario is one of the most depressed cities in Ontario lacking enough jobs for their entire population. Don't bullshit too much Beb, please. Russian women are welcome everywhere, they find bed buddies relatively quickly and women get priorities for jobs (particularly single mothers) in government and so called equal opportunity employers that don't employ white males.

You first need to give 1000 - 1500 to the governments, then you can decide what to do with it. It depends where you live, if you have a car or a loan payment, and if you live by yourself or not. My advice is that live next to your work place,don’t get a car, ideally, live in a city where there are some colleges or universities. They usually have cheap housings and cheap places to hang out.
