Phillip & Britain's Smartest Dog Make Special Connection | This Morning

Have we found Britain’s smartest dog? Not only can six-year-old Border Collie Bear correctly identify up to 80 toys and get them on request, but, if you’re parched - he can also fetch you a beer from the fridge. And just to prove he is as pawfect as he sounds, we’ll be putting Bear to the test live on air as he joins us in the studio alongside his owner Sophie Goss.

The big takeaway is a lot of border collies are able to do this but most humans aren’t able to stick with the amount of training and work it takes to get to this level. Still watching…3 min in..Ok, well maybe it’s more about the dog. 3 min a toy? Uhhh, then why can’t it do 1000 like chaser? You could add 5 toys a week and be there in a few years

The border collie is too quick-witted and in constant need of being stimulated: not an ideal dog, it gets tiresome and irritating after a while

You’re both right and wrong. They need exercise and mental stimulation and are only tiresome and irritating if with the wrong owners. They’re amazing dogs - I’ve got 2, live on Dartmoor and am healthy retired. Incredibly rewarding dogs
