A suggestion to shorten the privacy fence slightly would be to take every other board and cut it down by a couple inches. That would shorten the fence by about a half a foot and keep the symmetry.

So I was curious - Chicken feet do get cold when walking in the snow, but due to a special circulatory system called "counter-current heat exchange," they don't typically freeze because the cold blood returning from the feet is warmed by the warm blood flowing from the heart, minimizing heat loss; however, in extreme cold, their feet can still become cold enough to be susceptible to frostbite if they are not careful and might need to perch to keep their feet warm

That's perfect for your 100 lb cylinder propane tank, no ice will build up on the top. The one my dad had, he didn't cover it up to keep the ice from builing up on the top and the copper tubing behind our gas cookstove blew like a torch and within 15 minutes our house was burned to the ground and it happened on December 1976. So always make sure that sleet or freezing rain don't build up on your propane tank.

Love the house, guys, great job finishing the siding and thank you for sharing the progress. Greg, a $25 clipper set will solve your haircare issues; no need to visit a barber again, just cut it yourself which always fits your schedule rather than someone else's. I have been cutting my own since 1999 or so. Still waiting to go bald, but until then, will have to keep shaving my head every couple of days. Katie, might not be the preferred solution for yourself, but definitely is perfect for those who enjoy short hair.

Try cleaning the chop saw rails with kerosene, turpentine or something similar and then lubricating. The cleaning material should remove any wood or siding organic. Siding looks great by the way. Nice job!

Hello Katie and Greg. I bet you never thought when you were putting the concrete posts in the ground that the last piece of siding would be 2.25 square inches. Perhaps you will not need the extra long ladders or have the need to stand on the top of a ladder anymore. Milling your own wood has to feel really good. Merry Christmas! Have good days!

Katie the slider bars on the saw my have rust bumps on it, a scotch brite pad rub down on them should help. The bushings may have saw dist debri in them if the scotch brite rub down dont help. Nothing is worse than a tool performing so badly. Hang in there, house looks amazing. Congrats on siding being done woo whoo :)

I have had 3 "frost free" water spouts and all froze and burst in one place or another on them. I would suggest putting a shut off ball valve between it and the water line so when you do get freezing temps you can turn it off. Trust me it saves a lot of money and hassle in the long run.
