Well I figured out the starting issue and fuel on my merc 60hp today. I used my remote started and it started every time. It was the contacts on the key ignition switch that the contacts needed cleaning. Then the fuel issue was I had that auxiliary tank fuel demand valve hose going to the main tank that was already vented letting to much air in the line. I put my straight ball hose on the merc without a valve and starts every time now and runs good. Fuel demand valves are only for auxiliary tanks. Old guys do learn new tricks👍

The only 40 I’m looking at is a cold one ! Lol. Thought you might get a kick out of this , I just bought a 1969 25hp Johnson s.s. Complete runner for $100 ! I threw it in my test tank and it needs NOTHING ! I put fresh gear lube and new plugs for shits and giggles, I’m doing a refresh on the paint and selling it for get this $800 ! Deals like that are rare ! Good luck on your 40 ! SKOL BUD !

Yeah. He's very Happy. There was nothing out there for sale and he was desperate to get something on that Whaler. So he gambled on the 25 and hoped I could get er up and running. And like I say, as long as you have good compression the rest is a pain in the ass ! Hahaha . I had 24 hours on it total. Tough going between the Heat and Rain. But I got him in the water when he wanted. It really is a good outboard (now), the previous owner just abused the hell out of it. Thanks alot for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. Like the video's man... awesome work..have a question. I have a 1974 15hp Johnson it seem to be Getting water on both the plugs when I run it for a while and then pull the plugs out. but runs great in test bucket. I really haven't had a chance to get it out on the lake yet but do you think maybe it's the head gasket? Or where should I start?

Boy oh boy the more I look at the later designs they are no beuno, I don't want no stinking neutral safety switch or cable throttle or plastic for that matter. I love the sound of the above water exhaust too.

I'm converting my 96 Evinrude 25 to electric start with a part sending that has electric start but the flywheel magnets are all chewed up how bad can I actually be until it doesn't work properly

Hey. Wow, I'd really have to see it, but I would just try it and see what happens. You can probably get another flywheel on ebay pretty cheap if need be. I cant really imagine the magnets being so chewed up it wouldn't work. Is it running now? Thanks
