Good editing! Short and sweet. If I had to choose between a Honda 25 etc over the Evinrude I would take the two stroke any day. These engines will become collectables in a few years now Evinrude is no longer. Very nice engine!

I have this same motor. Model#J25TEEE... when I put it in the water it’s hard to start.. but after running for a few minutes it starts right up no issues for the rest of the day.. what could be the reasons that it’s hard to start initially. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Eric have you ever had a motor that pissed a good stream but was hot as heck while the water coming out of the prop exhaust is cool as can be? has a new impeller and housing, has a new thermostat.

C1iffBurton warm water coming out of the tell tail is normal as the thermostat keeps the engine at a good operating temperature, running them cold can be a bad thing for the life of the engine.. but if it's unbearably hot to keep your hand there then that will become a problem but since it is flowing plenty of water I can't see why

Definitely sounds like the Thermostat is faulty as the engine will piss fine but there is no water flow through the head. Temps as high as 120 degrees from head using a temp gauge to monitor means blocked valleys in head. I've seen fishing line melted in clumps totally blocking the head cooling channels and collapsed thermostats causing total blockage. If you remove head, thermostat etc this is the first step. Once appart start engine and look for good flow from the Thermostat valley after its removed as this hole is in direct line of water pump.
