j-hope was a locally famous street dancer in Gwangju (his hometown). He was in the starting lineup of a dance crew called Neuron. He even won a national championship in hip hop dance (boogaloo, I think) back in 2008. Chicken Noodle Soup was the first song he learned a dance too and you can see him dancing to it in vids dating all the way back to their early years so you can tell it's always been special to him. He met Becky at an award show and found out they both had a special affection for this song so Hobi bought the rights to record this and invited Becky to collab on it. I think it's really special that it's in 3 languages and super multi-cultural and it's really just about a bunch of people coming together out of a love for dance and an homage to Hobi's personal journey. He even credited the dancers and gave them shine time because he was there, he was a backup dancer early in his career. And he and Becky both have this Sunshine Swag energy that makes for great chemistry.

Roscoe, seeing this video means so much. I've been on the couch all day with a chronic pain flare up. Watching this video, I smiled wide and my aching toes couldn't help but move every now and then. Thank you! Chicken Noodle Soup with a Soda is described by the song's originator (this is a remake) as what her family and community would get from their Moms when they were home sick from school. So it's like a celebration of family and where she came from. Hobi and Becky rapping in their own languages about where they come from is a tribute to that. The cars and the blimp are a nod to Becky's neighborhood. Hobi wears jewelry and nail art in this video that represent his background. He says this is one of the first songs he learned to dance to, and Becky has a similar bond with the song. It's a fabulous collaboration, and you served it to me on the perfect day. 🙌🏻💜 P.S. I looove that they credited all the dancers. When does that ever happen in a MV?

Chicken Noodle Soup was how I found BTS. It was trending, the name was amusing so I pressed play...& was immediately entranced by Hobi. The way he moved, his voice, his face - he radiated an indescribable joy and I wanted to know everything about him. I was SHOCKED to find he was in BTS. As a "boy band anti", had I known & in my stubbornness, I probably wouldn't have watched the video. I had seen their Boy with Luv MV because of Halsey &, I'll admit, I had wondered why she had done such a pop song with a "pretty boy band". You know how they say you find BTS when you're ready? Apparently wasn't ready then. But after CNS, I fell just as hard as you did Roscoe! It's been 2.5 yrs now and I'm still finding content I haven't seen before. I love & respect them more every day & they have opened my mind & soul. Not only with music, language, culture, food, art, but also with just being a good human. Can't wait for you to learn more about the members and how they truly love, respect & support one another. We love to see it 💜 Bianca & her uncle (famous DJ, who originally was the middle man between Bianca & Big Hit) expressed thanks for the remake and huge support of Jhope and the song, although the known amount paid is more a range than a verified solid amount, Bianca has said that she can eat for life, so she's obviously feels like it was good for her.😴😔 Anyways she's a sweetheart.

I’m sure you noticed that there were 3 languages spoken in this. Also, I think I remember reading that the “Go J-Hope” message on the blimp was a gift from the rest of BTS to j-Hope, who was in LA without them making this video. There’s a making-of video of this, Roscoe, and I’m pretty sure it was a one take video, except for the night scenes. I think J-Hope was worried that Becky G would get upset having to keep reshooting because it was a hot day, but J-Hope really wanted it to be one take without cuts. He also names and credits all the dancers who performed because dance teams don’t usually get that kind of recognition, like being in the credits. J-Hope has a big heart. They all do.

Just catching up on your other reactions since subscribing yesterday. Chicken Noodle Soup is technically a cover. Hobi grew up listening to the OG song and when the opportunity to bring some Korean and Latino flavour to it with Becky G came in 2019, he hopped on a plane to the US during the group's first ever official vacation to make it a reality. Talk about passion and dedication! Hobi is our eternal sunshine for a reason 🌞 If you want a one take video, then you HAVE to watch War of Hormone. The song & video are AMAZING! The fact that the outdoor scene (which comprises about 3/4ths of the video) was done in one take is insane! There's also a behind the scenes where you can see the guys running around when off camera to get to their next mark while everything is filming. Phenomenal! The story behind why the guys received a lot of negativity regarding the lyrics is also really interesting... especially what Namjoon did as a result of the backlash. A few facts I kept in my notes when this track was released,… The original song inspired J~Hope to become a dancer; he wanted to pay homage to it. Paid around $17k to the original artists to do this. Originally was gonna film in Harlem but whoever he was gonna do it with fell through. Met Becky G at an awards show,... talked abt working together,..😉 At the end of the mv, credit was given to each of the 50 dancers (of different nationalities) onscreen as his way of additionally supporting young dancers as he did not have this kind of support/exposure... 1. J~Hope said he missed his BTS brothers and was lonely. Jungkookie was originally supposed to accompany him but it didn’t work out. 2. One of the dancers said he never met anybody who worked as hard as J~Hope. 3. J~Hope was afraid he, Becky G, and the dancers would have a hard time communicating... Becky G said dont worry; we’ll talk by our bodies with our dance! 4. The day shots of the mv was filmed in one take😉 5. Saw someone say the Go JHope blimp was sent to him for support by BTS! I have never been so happy for a "If you don't... We're going to have words." before in life! Thanks, Chilli! So glad you did this. As others mentioned, Hobi got this song's original creator's permission and then praise for the new version/video. The reason he wanted to do this is because it was his first song he did when he took dance classes as a kid and he says is part of the reason he loves dancing. I not only get to see him dance and make references to his past dancing, like Hope on the Street, I also get to see a Hispanic artist sing and rap in spanish about being proud of where we come from. I love seeing how each rapper hits you differently because it's the same way for me. Yoongi just sends you into hysterics from his tongue technology and savagery. I love everything single thing about this song. He used his vacation time to make this video and it's a song that bonded him and Becky G because of their love for the original. They did a remake doing their personal touch in the lyrics and bringing 3 cultures together or 3 different languages in one song. He honored the dancers by putting their names in the credit. You also showed me something for the first time, in all the times I've seen this video, I never noticed he came up behind the dancers when Becky G turned her back to us to look at it. Sorry I missed your "Tell me your BTS story..." Mine is of a strange nature. I'm 65,married and was dependent on prescription drugs. I had seen BTS on Jimmy Falon one night. I started looking for them on line. I watched a choreography performance of "ON" ,A practice video on KZbin. I couldn't get enough of this video. I found them on the James Corden show Carpool Karoke'. Then their performance of "Black Swan" on his show. Needless to say,I started following these wonderful gentlemen after this. I came to believe in myself again,and that I was worth something . To be able to " Love Myself". I gained the strength to stand on my own convictions . Realize that my health was at risk with all the drugs my doctors had me on. I decided ,on my own,to do a detox at home. Whenever i got scared,felt the chills coming on,and needed strength...I put on my beats,[ or my corded ear buds if I was out ], turned on any number of BTS songs. And I did come through the other end. I am a different person now,happy,I can drive again and see my seven grandchildren! BTS will forever be a part of my life. They own a piece of my heart. Okay here's my interpretation, since hobi talks about his days as a street dancer and how he worked hard and still have fun, I guess the chicken noodle soup with the soda on the side was his gift meal to himself whenever he dances good and hard, so yeah he is singing about his days back as a street dancer with his teammates and the fun they had doing what they like and then hanging out after the show to eat chicken noodle soup with the soda on the side😊

I want to point out something that I did not read in the comments so far, very important to said - I personally, have never seen so much brotherhood in a group like BTS before , they genuinely support each other in their individual projects, make cameos in the MVs, go to the locations, in this case CHNS the boys supported Hobi dancing in a challenge for tiktok. They are true family. They really love and support each other in their alternative projects. without any type of envy or jealousy, at least I have never seen it in western music culture before, I grew up with the dramas of the separations of my favorite bands due to professional jealousy all the time even between brothers ( OASIS ) , this will never happen to BTS They are SPECIAL they are UNIQUE Latin american Army went crazy with this song . I've heard it said... Hobi is a Beast. Yes this was brilliant. HE is Brilliant. I actually think he has all around genius to rival any 148 kinda guy. But he is never usually a show-off. Except those times when he just has to let it emerge, and then he's the dance Hulk. He'll just be dancing along and then all of a sudden it's like people are falling over saying "WHAT WAS THAT!"

I’ve seen BTS do that clap so much, it’s almost like an automatic reflex for them by now when they start recording. Other automatic reflexes for them are saying 1,2,3 *bow* Hello, we are BTS. I’ve seen one of them do it when they were by themselves without BTS and they were like “whoops I don’t need to do that right now.” Hopefully someone else remembers who it was. Another reflex they sometimes do, is when they want to say something in an interview, they will raise their hand and say their name. That was drilled into them by Run BTS, where they have to do that to be the one called on for the answer.

Now I know ARMY has told you a lot about this video....so I'm sure u know by now this is a remake...the original was released in 2006 by DJ Webstar and Young B. (and yes her name is Bianca and I believe she is on the show Housewives of Atlanta). Now when J Hope decided to do this song, it was very personal for him. You see when he started dancing, this was the song he learned his first dance, and half way around the world Becky G. was actually doing the same thing at almost the same time, she learned her first dance to what.....Chicken Noodle Soup. Becky I believe is from L.A. and she is a Spainish/English singer. Hobi actually used some of his vacation time back in 2019 and went to L.A. to make this, by the way it was actually a two shot video, Day and night. Even when they panned up to the Blimp, it was still one shot. And the song, even though it is about Chicken Noodle Soup, it was also about his love for what this song did for him. He even added a Verse in regards to his live for dancing and Neuron (his old dance team.) It guided him to his live for dancing, which led him to where he is now. Both Webstar and Bianca have said that they loved this version and that it was actually a tri-lingual song, English, Korean, and Spainish. I know this is a lot info to take in. And I'm sorry if I was all over the place...I do hope it helped a little to understand why Hobi did this song that so many ARMY adore! GOOD LUCK!

As you have already been told, this song has a special meaning for J-Hope because it was the first choreography he learned. After wanting to do it for a long time, he offered it to Becky G. She accepted because it turned out that she grew up listening to that song. Both adapted the new version that is also in Korean, English and Spanish. It's so uplifting and joyful, I have to keep moving around even clapping hands. You'll see in "Soop" and Run BTS, that J-Hope often eats chicken Noodle soup and a soda on the side. BTW the soda would be a Sprite. There is a story behind this one. ARMY tell it correctly for me please. This piece made quite a bit of money. Afterwards J-Hope gave a large sum of money to the rappers who created "Chicken Noodle Soup" and made it famous years ago. It was one of J-Hope's early street dancing days pieces. He felt he wanted to recognize and honor them, thankful for where their music influenced helped take him. I love that part of BTS, the greatfulness, acknowledging others, and giving back.
