This car keeps getting better and better. looks good, sounds good, love the direction you're going with it Not sure if you remember but I said I've been wanting to trade my Si for a wrx for a while and it looks like I'll be making that happen. It won't be brand new, I've got a friend selling a 2015 wrx for a really good price and I couldn't turn it down. It's been about a year but it's finally happening. You've definitely helped inspire me to get one. keep up the great work, glad to see the channel growing so fast!

Wow. Crash beam removed entirely? Hope you're never in an accident dude :S
@dsmbilly36906 жыл бұрын
They don't really help. They are only rated to withstand 5-15mph impacts, which is pretty typical. Most cars don't really crash at highway speeds they slow down and crash at very low speed. The car is designed to crumple and deflect the impact away from the driver. If the crash beam did much more than it already does it would be like you hitting a brick wall and would kill you rather than protect you. The biggest issue here isn't safety but the fact that your insurance would deny your claim in a front end collision because you tampered with the safety equipment. It might not make sense why they would do that if it does virtually nothing in the first place, but their goal isn't to pay out claims it's to weasel their way out of as many payouts as possible. As you can see in this video the car isn't traveling super fast but still seems scatter parts all over the place. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXmykHyna9-Ne5o Impacts happen from distracted drivers who are doing something like texting and driving then suddenly hit the brakes to avoid an accident. That is why most crash tests are done from 35 and under. Most people driving on the interstates going 60-70mph attempt to stop and crash into cars in front of them that are stopped at 5-25mph. Modern cars stop very well compared to older cars so the odds of higher speed crashes are lower. What concerns me the most is that the piece of metal they removed mildly helps keep the frame straight during very heavy cornering. It is also designed to break away to create a weak point to allow that corner of the car to crumple. Does it really need to be there? I'm not sure. Sorry to reply to such a old reply by the way. It's just important for people to know why it is there.

Not true. I was in a 45 mile an hour crash and the crash beam saved my engine.. I still totalled the car but only a chunk of the bumper cover was removed, no dammage to the front hood or engine. Withiut a crash beam the whole engine will get collapsed theres nothing to absorb the crash without it. Bought my car without one. And it would suck getting in a 5 mph fender bender cause then you damage your ecpensive ass fmic you just put on.

I think the best way to go may be the stand-up type intercoolers in the factory position, but more upright. What I'm thinking of is doing some sort of heat shielding under the intercooler as well. A larger intercooler with more core density, better bar-plate design, etc, that should help. I live in Vegas and I bought my WRX just a couple months ago (so, early fall), and I'm concerned come our 110+ degree days that there's going to be issues. Just driving stock, I can already sense huge power drops after sitting idling in traffic. Clearly the stock IC is soaking.

Sick af, but removing crash beams? Not a good idea. That's why I got the PW verticooler. And unless you run standalone engine management where no MAF sensor is used you should always use a recirculating bov. A protune can help but ultimately vta doesn't run right with a MAF sensor. Sounds sick though.
@Deliriouskev7 жыл бұрын
Sean Fricke I second that. When I get my Sti I will not do a frontmount. Removing the crash beam and the other piece be did RIP car if he gets hit in front. Instead of the crash beam doing its job to absorb the crash it's going to demolish the front end and mess the frame up.
@13Recon19D6 жыл бұрын
Or get a speed density set up.
