I read My Lady Jane earlier this year and it made me laugh out loud many times. It was often ridiculous, and sometimes corny, but it was clearly intentional and very self-aware. I really enjoyed my time reading it. I'm even more excited for My Plain Jane based on the premise.

i dnfed far from the tree because i believed it was very interesting the first three chapters but after that it was boring. the characters didn’t pull me in or make me care about them. you might think different but that’s my unpopular opinion !

Honestly, I was very disappointed by Dumplin'. It's not as body positive as it sounds like it should be from the description. If you do read it, I'd say go in with low expectations, and it might work for you. I've heard the Netflix movie is better, but I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet because I disliked the book so much.
