You know its pure skill, when they make it look easy, when they make it look like its no bid deal, This right here is absolutely amazing, on so many levels. The ship coming in hot, it being a massive fucking ship, doing it on water, and not just close to a dock, but in a tight corner... Well done, and big respect and shout out to the captain and the crew! Also rewatching this at 2.0 speed, is a must

The captain is obviously experienced. One of the interesting things to note was how when the ship was aligned broadside to the wind, it just didn't stand a chance. The wind was coming at an almost 'perfect' 90° angle off his starboard midships, effectively turning the ship into one massive iron sail, I mean you could see the vessel beginning to list as he tried to manoeuvre her to sternward for docking. Sadly though, there have been some horrible shipping tragedies in Greece. In Scandinavia there was the terrible tragedy of the MS Estonia in 1994. On the morning that the Estonia set sail, winds of 40 knots were being reported and indeed the high winds resulted in the waves hammering her bow door until the locks failed. Very sad. But in Denmark you have a great history of modern shipping with Maersk's giants belonging to the Triple E class.

I know this harbor and it can be a real challenge entering in during a full-blown meltemi. If you see the force of the wind blowing away her wake waves, or the stern waves, it's quite impressive. A wise decision, i think, because her anchor would not have hold. Without a secured dock and the help of two tugs boats, despite of her having a bow truster, better go off to Syros, as the captain must have done (Mykonos could also be an alternative).
